Those Swan hugs? I've owned turkeys and a peacock while spending the last decade and a half rescuing roosters, and I can say that they all do it, but turkeys and peas are big enough to actually get a decent wrap and squeeze with their necks. I've always called them "neck hugs", and I can confirm, it feels wonderful to spend time with an animal who chooses to reciprocate your affection in this way.

My best friend had a very ill wife. I did everything I could to. I cooked meals ( they really like my cooking) and I would keep their house clean. It was a lot of work that I loved. When she passed away, I refused to leave him alone. I was left alone when my loved ones died. I refused to do that to him. I would take him to the movies, takes him shopping, take him to get groceries that I would cook for him, He was the best man I’ve ever known. I would not abandon him. Eventually, we had feelings for each other. I had to let him take his time because of the trauma of losing his beloved wife. It didn’t take long. See, his wife had Huntington’s. He mind had been gone for years. He was incredibly lonely. I did everything I could to keep him company. It only took a few months before we head over heels in love with each other. We were the perfect couple. I could never ask for a better partner. He was everything I’ve ever dreamed of. Five years later I can home from work and I found him half in and half out of the shower. He was dead, and had been for a while. I never got over it and I never will. He was only 57 years old. Life sucks!
