Excellent video, Daniel! I like the technique of moving the metronome click to something other than the main beat. It's a great exercise. Thank you so much for these informative videos!

Thank you for your videos. Do you have any tips against stage fright? Maybe could you make an video for that? How do you fight against this fright?

I will add that to the list. It's something I suffered with for some time and eventually overcame.

Do you maybe have some short point as a spoiler to your video? :-)

If we’re talking about instability or shaking in the bow due to stage fright, Here is one thing that I discovered:
Imagine holding a heavy object. Even if your hands are shaking, the object won’t shake like your hands. Now, try the same thing with a light object, such as a pencil, and it will immediately reflect any small shakes from your fingers/hand.
So, when in trouble, move the bow with big muscles, such as those in the upper arm, while keeping smaller muscles, such as those in the hand, relatively passive and relaxed.

Tip no. 6 reminds me of brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand which requires a different part of the brain to be activated and in turn results in a more careful brushing 😄

Excellent video as always. Could you share a tip for practicing syncopation? I play with an orchestra as second violin and this is the rhythm I invariably have difficulty with.

You're probably late. Play earlier and step on the toes a bit. If you overdo it, at least you will define the range, and then feel the right place with more certainty. Also, in many situations, subdividing is key! Best of luck.

EMB VL i like 1st position basically :) no complicated fingerings aside from some small places, in my view.

      1. Getting used to holding the violin properly. You need a teacher to set you up, or you need to be extremely detail oriented in the way you copy good violinists on youtube. The most important part of this is being aware of the innevitable tension that will arise in the shoulder, and neck. Your natural instinct will be to grip the instrument. At all costs, you must develop a relaxed and balanced hold. The shoulder should be free, the arm should feel natural, the chin shouldn’t clamp the violin, the neck must be free.
      2. Bowing. Getting used to the feeling of bowing the strings = open string exercises. Your teacher should give you those. Letting the bow sit on the strings, holding it very lightly and moving it with great momentum along the string. You have to develop that feeling of free movement and vibration of the string.
