I've been feeling like there aren't enough reviewers doing videos about lifestyle, use case, implementation, and overall macro views of the space. It really has started to feel like a ceaseless onslaught of review after review without anyone stopping to catch a breath and talk about it.
Exactly
Yeah, it's basically a rundown of the specs and features that are faster if I read the page myself and initial listening impressions, rinse and repeat.
yes
Accurate.
This is the type of content that brought me to this channel. It's the reason the "Game Fidelity" video is one of your most viewed and it's what brought me here.
Im working on expanding my horizons. I need to just yell about shit
@@ZReviewsAnd I thought it was the Big Boob, Scantily Clad Anime Women that brought us here
@@JTB-- That's what keeps us!
Speaking of said video, when is the new one coming out?
@@play3rthr339 True! A LOT has happened in gaming audio since. Audeze, Sony, and Shiit all brought out gaming lines.
I enjoy these type of videos a lot. Don't overthink Zeos, just go, it's ok to ramble on about specific topics from time to time.
Thanks for this video. It's made me bring out my very first portable dac/amp again and charge it up after many months of no use. Fiio Q1MK2 (original version with the AKM 4490 dac chip). I attach it to the back of my Samsung S20's Otterbox case using 3M Dual Lock. I change out the Dual Lock strips on the phone every 4-6 months because they become lodged with pocket lint and debris from having the phone in my pockets most of the time. Still, the Dual Lock stuff is great and keeps not only the Fiio Q1MK2 extremely firmly attached, but also my portable battery charger. With another couple of strips of Dual Lock on the back of it, I'm able to charge and continue to use my phone at the same time, all while not having to be connected to the wall outlet. Love the 3M Dual Lock...you can hear clicks when the devices snap together. It's very satisfying and the amount of holding force is astonishing. It takes a shit load of effort to pry stuff apart once it's firmly attached.
The fact that that guy's on a train in that picture -- and not as I originally assumed and some kind of a audio event -- is what makes it so funny
One of the most entertaining videos youâve done in some time. Was great going on the journey to see so much great you still have that we havenât seen in ages
Bro if thereâs anyone whoâs capable of aspiring to the greatness of that man, itâs you. I mean I could figure out a way to battery pack my K7 but most of us just donât have it, be our experimental daddy đ
Watching this on double speed is like witnessing the kind of nervous breakdown I may be ok with having
that cord looping around the back in the stupid picture is the dongle grado gives you for their old headphones that came with a 1/4 inch end, they gave you a ~8 inch adapter from 1/4 to 3.5mm. that looks like a 3.5 to full size 5 pin XLR, lol.
I've been rocking my little Hiby R3 with a Hip-Dac 2, can happily drive even my most difficult planars. If I want some portable tube action, swap the Hip-Dac 2 for a Littlebear B4-X.
I don't think I've ever seen so many things packed into one room.
he's an audiophile hoarder. Moved to a bigger house so he could hoard more expensive audio gear.
Here on my Sundara via JDS Labs Atom stack before work. It's the first system I ever purchased, and it took me a little bit of saving. This is perfect for me, since portables are likely my next purchase decision in the hobby đ€
@@ZReviews, Chord Mojo(2) + Topping BC3 with optical connection adds BT LDAC to the mojo without spending a bomb. Chord Mojo + Hiby R2/R3 pro is a good portable streaming stack as well.
One of my best over the top hifi rigs was a Samsung Galaxy phone paired to a Monoprice THX portable with Dirac, Oppo-Ha2 Dac Amp and Alo Audio Rx Amp. Audio bliss! If you make a bug rig, an OPPO Ha-2 and or Aune B1 or B1s is a must within the chain
Have two different set ups, a Shanling M3X line out to a Cayin C5 Amp. This amp has 800mw at 32 ohms, so it has some power for being portable. Also have a Astell & Kern AK70 to an old Fiio E17K Alpen DAC/AMP. Little velcro dots keeping them together. Z had the original E17 at one time, mine has a knob to turn up and down, he had the one with the buttons for volume up and down.
Still rocking with my LG G8 without any external dac/amp with moondrops and Grados
This is why I love my Sony Wm1Z. It sounds fantastic with Audio Technica ATH-AWKT and WP900 and IEMs. And It works great as a bluetooth receiver and transmitter if I need it. And the Linux OS is super stable although it is kinda limited in functionality. But I only need it to play music, not run Android apps.
Great video. The Periodic Studio Rhodium is smaller than that dongle DAC that you took out of the box. Sounds great, too.
I must be doing something wrong because I just use an old first gen XDuoo X3 and my HD558's that I've had for 10+ years.
"Shanghai Stack" is the phrase to search for
Still have my old lil'bear tube amp and a DAP velcro'd together, it's good enough đ€·đ»ââïž
Lil Bear and an MPOW was a thing for a while.
Best rant ever. Porta-fi is 99% bullshit and auto masochism. IRL most of this stuff is unusable on the go, save the 1% of people that spend extended hours regularly in transportation of some kind. None of it is pocketable, practical, or even marginally better than just the lowest common denominator dongle DAC and your phone⊠which sounds *_just fine_*
Good IEMâs , IFI Go Blue ( or the new stuff) and your good.
Great rant ..educational as
usual đđđ
Grey tac is obviously better than the blue tac I grew up with as I remember peeling blue tac off my plasterboard walls and having the paint and paper layer tear off with it.
Right now Iâve been using the Fiio X7 USB out to the Sony PHA-3. Bulky as hell, but it sounds so so good.
Yes, I like it when you do the stuff like this. I'd love it if you did a tips roundup. Have you heard of the Pentaconn Coreir brass eartips? Gizaudio recently did an unboxing.
Watched until the end because... UHU!! That was fun~ & interesting product recommendations
Though I hope you make a short after this with the completed audio-hamburger using all the items listed in this video
Need to buy more glue
I have ball too but fell off and couldn't be arsed getting up so stayed. Thinkin of watching another one
I like things simple one DAP, either Shanling M6 Ultra or Astell and Kerns Kahn Alpha and either a cabled Ikko OH5 or a Bluetoothed (Fiio UTWS3) Mangird Tea 2. Saving up for a Mangird Zenns Up!!
Imagine all the portable products that Z has dissed the last few years becaue of not BT. Z has finally gone full circle and I approve đ
I used to go with things blue-tacked together but nowadays just the go Blu and the Nannas and couldn't be happier.
You definitely need to do more "fuck it" videos like this one...very entertaining and informative at the same time... đ
My portable setup is usually the Koss KSC75 and the Cowon Plenue D.
Mostly because the battery life is great, is sounds ok, and i'm unlikely to get mugged if people see cheap Koss headphones on me.
I've been with my trusty ES100 this whole time but not sure where to go next or how much I'm missing from a desktop setup. I'd like something that doesn't drain my phone's aging battery, has good soundstage depth and width, separation, and a natural, more musical type sound. All the better if it can power my HD560S w/3.5mm and around the $200-$250 range. It only needs to be as portable as moving it around the house from chair to bedside etc
Made it to the end of the video because I'm procrastinating and can't get my shit together to have a halfway productive day.
Last thought⊠strange desktop setup is in my officeâŠ
IMac -> THX Onyx Dingle Dangle Dongle in the Dirt DAC -> Pioneer RT707 Reel to Reel to Naim Uniti Atom HE -> Neumann KH 80s. Plus a turntable to a Puffinâs digital out to the Naim.
I also alternate between OG AKG701s and Focal Radiance plugged into either the Naim or the R2R depending on the mood.
Inefficient as F and would piss off 2/3 of the Internet forum police. But a ton of joy.
Had the UTWS1 and loved them. Until they shorted out in one ear. Bought them because of Z Reviews! One day I will get another pair and some decent IEMs.
Me too. UTWS1 with Tin T2, classic combo.

You know what, that's the exact ones I used too!!With foam tips. Was so good and comfortable.
Fan of Rube Goldberg solutions. Even on desktops. Have a Woo Audio Firefly WA7 mk3 in my bedroom. Trying to figure out how to feed it USB OTG via anything that has a Bluetooth receiver (for TV audio). So far canât find anything. Apple Iâm using a Toping d50 and the analog inputs. Boeing! I want to try the Wooâs DAC. Topping M50 would have been ideal but those are unobtanium.
Suggestions? I tried an OTG and an adapter cable connected to an old 30 pin cable and car bluetooth dongle. Should have worked. Didnât. Really looking for ideas!?
Iâve been looking for a good portable amp with 4.4 and optical out forever, you show me the Honey H1, itâs my absolute everything, then I find out they donât do it anymore. Thanks for nothing Zeos đą đ
I usually just use an Apple dongle but when I take out my DCA Aeons I use a BTR5 blu-taced to a Topping NX7. It looks a bit crazy but works really well
Interesting to see someone else who bought an NX7. Portable amps are pretty much dead in todays market. I do the same, but with a qudelix and a LCDi4. I just glued the two devices together and clip the qudelix to the outside of the pocket with the NX7 on the inside. No larger than a phone and all Bluetooth.
@@enjoshi-godrez8775 I also think they're dead because they're really unpractical compared to dongles.
But crazy guys like me who run power hungry low impedance planars on the go just need the power
@@juliangst I need it because the i4 requires 14 bands to be compliant with IEF 2023 (20 to 8000hz). There is no dap or any other portable device in existence that has over 10 PEQ filters, and the qudelix isn't good enough on its own to overcome a -10db preamp. I had no other choice but to buy a portable amp, but the bright side is you have an enormous battery, because the qudelix is outputting about 30% of its available voltage. The combo lasts far far longer then any dap or phone+dongle I could imagine.
i like having a lifestyle, use case, implementation, from time to time
Z has always been so dismissive of the lg v series in favor of dongles. The v50 and v60 came into existence around the time flagship performance started to plateau and they have incredible audio performance with no dongles. Even just as a portable dap theyre incredible. Plus theyre super inexpensive. Honestly even the v40 is probably fine. Im putting off "upgrading" to dongles as long as I can.
I'd even go as far as the lg v30 just because it has a snap dragon 830 chip because imo anything above 800 is better user experience than paying overpriced daps with an outdated snap dragon 600(the most I saw with these daps).
@@louiev.3367 Agree. Plus the 30 has a sleeker design. I had a v20 for a while and that design was the most premium of them all, it was just an ancient relic by todays standards in performance.... For anyone else reading I recommend the v50 the most because anything thats inferior to the v60 isnt a big deal and it has aspects that are actually better. The dual screen design is better and leaves a bigger opening for your headphone jack, the camera is better, the screen is better, the form factor is better, and its cheaper. Im using a v60 right now and it feels a little cheaper in the hands and is prone to charge port failure. Those are the only downsides. At $200 it was still a steal. If i had to buy another id go for the v50. My dream phone would be the v20 bulked up to v60 specs and retaining the v20 goodies like removable batteries. Back in the day there was also this phone called the htc one that had big chins on either end that fit matched forward facing speakers. Not a bad idea now. Edge to edge screen isnt really a necessary thing, id rather have real speaker grills
well im def buying the Blon collab lol. those are def the bl-05's which i love. so that color with the new tune. yep. thats a buy.
More of this please, it's an ORDER â€
that wallpaper makes this even better
I've got R3 Pro Saber connected with Mojo2 like a sandwich for few months, it was awesome. However I went back to standard android DAP solution, it's just more convenient. Anyway I like the part about experimenting with audio - we are all hyped daily by some new stuff that's always better. Who needs it anyway? Right now we have awesome devices, we don't need to upgrade each fckng month. Music is the most important anyway. Cheers
I have a VERY similar set up with a Sony Walkman stuck on a Topping NX4 connected by cables.
My setup is a Sony Walkman NW-A45 Plugged into a FiiO E11K headphone amp. I use Koss Pro-4AA headphones. The volume setting on the Walkman is 115 and the amp. is set at 6 with gain and bass on. It sounds great!!!
Coffee and Zeos lets go!
I just got my little white yesterday its been good so far
Neck-amp's are genius. I don't understand why they aren't popular with Headphones and basically only exist for IEM's
These are the videos I enjoy the most tbh
Missed a massive opportunity for a Zeos E-Girl 'UhU', there.
topping g5 is my go to portable nowadays although i have been looking at second hand wa11 topaz's
I still have lg just for the dac
'Photo's of my penis' by Hugh J'shlong has an awesome depiction of the idiosyncrasies of light and dark imagery. You'll never look at todgers in the same way again....
I feel like that is a risky searchy

I'm going to use a if gryphon as a line out to a KAEI TAP-1 DACs(a tube amp that you reviewed months ago)

@@ZReviews do you still have your unit? Do you know if the 4w is a real number? Or they lied about the power? I'm going to buy it a later this year, if I can, if Brazil president don't make taxes like 100% of the value of the product... It's a thing here...
You could have added a little bear!
The craziest portable setup: in the eighties, I lent my Sony D5 discman to my college roommate so he could play CDs on air. To borrow the unit, I asked him to play Metallica on his indie format station so I could still listen to my music.
iPhone + fiio Q11 + monarch2/mest2, or iPhone + Apple dongle + topping nx7 + z1r, they are more than enough for me đ
I have a lot of stereo equipment and I love it, but I have yet to have someone convince me that quality of DAPs/wires/stupidity is worth it over the convenience of Bluetooth with built-in DAC/amp and sometimes DSP. I'm really looking hard at the Audeze Maxwells.
because wires are better SQ over bluetooth. Alot of bluetooth heads are gonna claim bluetooth to death because they are all on the portability train, and thats okay, but to say its justifiably better than wired connects, with optical or usb, then youre out your mind.
@@DJ_BROBOT not sure you read my initial comment. It clearly says that the sound quality of wired is better.
And also, for god's sake, you are the only one that can do this! The hiby rs2 is my favorite dap, but it doesn't have Bluetooth, It only accepts USB or SD card data, I challenge you, to make it Bluetooth somehow, go!
Can we get the directors cut for the gray tac review?
Not bad idea
I have that USB-C extension cable, Very starchy, but a good cable.
I know thereâs no love for iPods here, but anyway, my portable music setup is a modded iPod 5th Gen, with a 64gb micro sd, running rockbox, paired with a Fiio A5 amp to my modded Koss KPH30i. Bluetooth setup, TRN BT30âs, Sal Notes Zero with my iPhone 12 mini.
Hi , Iâm going that route. How you pair to fĂo a5, ? (I mean connecting to it to give dac a digital signal)

Excited for this mystery item
I know samsung phones have problems with usb c audio outputs from some reason. Gota go into dev mode to enable it.
Just use a good DAP and you have one device. Mine also does bluetooth so I want to use my phone I can, but I'd rather not.
You forgot to grab a little bear and give it tubes.
Z, My "Nice" DAP I bought. Froze up and the battery over heated. So I'm done with DAP's. Going to get a cheap tablet and call it [good]; hopefully it
will OTG to my DAC. Best, D.
I still use an old phone with micro USB out, so currently I run... a microUSBâUSB-A OTG cable to an Audioquest Jitterbug FMJ, to an Audioquest Dragonfly Red, to a 4.4mmâ3.5mm short cable adapter to my 4.4mm standard-cabled 7Hz Timeless. If I don't bend the first OTG around and đ-ring the monstrosity to the back of my phone, it looks utterly ridiculous. I'm upgrading next to a phone with USB-C out and just a Questyle M15 - which is taking forever to get an ETA update on while on backorder... NOT COOL QUESTYLE!!! - But I hear the Shanling M9 has enough power to drive my dream IEMs, Audeze LCDi4 without any additional flagship portable headphone amp needed, so my endgame portable would probably be the new Shanling M9 Plus & LCDi4. That M9 is stupid-expensive here though... ugh!
P.S. Found a 5cm right-angled to straight USB C ribbon cable on Amazon, Z. đ13 bucks.
