Man I am tired just watching, but once more it is great to see the magic behind the camera and all the work that needs done before the first take on set. Love the show getting better each week. Thank you 👍
As both a tabletop nerd and a film nerd, this is the exact type of content that i crave! Good luck finding the perfect locations! Can't wait to see what's next!
Apologies for last week's comment. Thinking I could tell you how to make a movie was my excitment letting my hubris be exposed. And no one wants to see that. No matter what camera lens you use. I am super keen to see this project come to fruition. I'll sit back and enjoy the ride. Cheers.
I haven't been to Idyllwild in years. Even if you don't end up filming in the area, at the very least you've inspired me to drive out and have a hiking trip. Cheers!
Love this, I'm a Filmmaker and Sound Mixer. I've had exact days like this doing location scouts for my own projects, I love the end of the day meals at some random spot in a town you've never been to. Almost like a Tavern in DnD. If y'all ever wanna shoot in the Nashville area holla at me. cheers.
Sounds like you need to take a scouting trip to the tropical rain forests up near Seattle. They shot a lot of Stargate up in the mountains around Vancouver, the mountains throughout that area have lots of moss and vines and water and trees, everything you seem to visualize. Pretty exciting stuff, best of luck on the venture! I know I'll be checking in to see how you're doing.
The Location with the ravine reminded me of the scene from LotR when the hobbits hid from the dark rider under that tree. You could a juxtapose scene except the good guys would be looking and the bad guys could be sneaking up. but just show the bad guys weapons as if something is holding them
250 miles, 15 hour trip, scouting locations up and down southern California with beers and bratwurst in the end. I mean, I'm not gonna say that I'm jealous or anything but I really envy you 😁 And listening to you talk is getting me hipped to see what this movie will look like, or at least that teaser.
Lol social media makes everything seem “awesome and fun” (but yeah it kinda is - but if I gotta expend energy then there better be beer and brats at the end 😂). 🤙🍻
Wardrobe can roll with the front facing! No problem! But yeah, these are some cool locals. Next time you and Jordy are headed to Idyllwild, stop and grab me! I'll gladly drop everything! There's also some spots at Ramona I want to show you! Lori loves you guys and ...you'd have amenities! I'll try to go grab some shots for ya!
California is so dry, it looks like a tinder box. You may have to head north for some woodlands with a lush understorey of ferns, moss and mushrooms. Oregon or Washington maybe? Good luck !
A tinderbox is exactly what it is AND we’re heading into summer 😬 I just spoke with a buddy of mine who lives in Oregon and we will probably go scout there too!
@@tabletopalchemy Most of those trees you showed are barely hanging on and look very sick indeed. 😥 Your stream is what we'd call a ditch and your pool would be a puddle over here. 😂 Guess I'm lucky to live in a temperate rainforest. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure 😍
@fionainscotland258 yep, I’m not embarrassed at all now 😂 Idyllwild has been decimated by a bark beetle invasive species that I just read has shown up in Oregon now… really sucks. I have not 100% ruled out a desert setting for the movie, it is in the game and could be a very unique look for a fantasy flick … but I love the forest aesthetic so much because I’ve never gotten to live in one … but so much open sky to digitally turn into the Shadow Deep is also problematic. 😐
@@tabletopalchemy That's a shame but very common now that climactic conditions have changed and some tree species are no longer in their comfort range. I'm not getting the desert vibe at all for your movie, or you, really. I see you more as a Blackforest guy, especially after seeing your dinner in that video 😄 Reminded me of my day as a guest of the Furstenberg family and finishing the day off in the brewery, what a day, unforgettable. See if they'll host your movie for product placement 🍻
@fionainscotland258 I did live in Germany for two years in the Army and I loved it! Didn’t see a tenth of what I should have (you know, cause I was 19 and mostly going to bars and clubs like an idiot)😩
Not sure how much effort it takes with film making, but you mentioned needing to do effects and such, and now looking for locations. So how about having mini/bigatures of terrain to then edit into your standard shots? Same idea as for LOTR.
@@tabletopalchemy Not sure if shipping would work or not or how any of it would work, but if all this does take off I'd love to offer help in that department. Feel free to drop me a line and I can show you some previous works on terrain for clients.
IDEA: this is based on a Tabletop Game, Shouldn''t the Shots be From Over, looking down like on to a Table, and maybe add Narration like Discribing a Game Play. Lourance (Ranger1), Looks down from his Vantage point, it seems perfect for any ambush, he returns to his party to report his Findings ...
Cool idea🤙 But I would say while it is based on a tabletop game, I wanna see a war band actually in the author’s world😉 Like how I imagine the stories that happen on the tabletop. But we’ll see how it goes! 🏴☠️🍻
@@tabletopalchemy Keep em coming, I have Rangers just not a lot of Scirmish type game time, I Run one 7 player DND game and also play in a 10 man DnD game, so spare time is limited.
Not sure where you're located, but.. Altadena, San Gabriel, (very cool park, wooded, creeks, etc...) & Arcadia. Hit the foothills, pick a road and head upwards young man! There's a ton of cool sites, lots of different looks up in those hills.
I have an interest in helping in this project. I have never been involved with a movie production. I am an analyst personality type with some experience in writing creatively (not saying I'm amazing). That's all my "i" 's. If you find I can be helpful, let me know.
I only see this one, yeah that’s ridiculous! I have no idea how CZcams decides what comments to hide or delete or whatever cause I only hear folks say they had a comment deleted🙄 Feel free to hit me up via email if the platform keeps doing that 💀

Nerds unite lol! 🏴☠️🍻
Heck of a work day trip. Been to the area there is a girl scout camp in the area.
Thanks for taking us on your adventure
That is true lol we just shot some corporate videos for GSOC and they mentioned their camp.

Ooh! Tennessee has some interesting woodland, I’ve been through there. I’m putting you on my list 🤙🏴☠️🍻

That area sounds pretty perfect, yep, gotta plan some trips! 🍻

That's all they do in SoCal. Everything goes to the credit card bill that won't be paid. It's so kick back.
Sometimes feels very true 😂

I wondered if the bowl or bowl-adjacent areas would have enough trees or sky cover so would be interesting to check out. 🤙

This is definitely an idea I’m discussing with folks. I plan to have some kind of miniature work somehow some way 🤙😎🍻
