- Wall Tent Construction; This video shows the final sewing on my new 8 x 10 foot wall tent, that has 5 foot high side walls and two additional 27" x 19" screen windows on either side of the 10 long walls. This tent was made by Terry's Tent Ltd right here in Goose Bay NL. Terry talks about some key points in the stitching pattern used in this tent and about the importance of proper storage. If you are in the market for a new Wall Tent it's worth watching this video from start to finish. Hope you enjoy...

i have a client that wants a tent, great video and love the juki. really enjoyed the chance to watch how it's done too!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Quality looking tent for sure. I bet there will be good hunting and trapping trips coming up in it. He made it look very easy stitching it up. Always good to support the local builders.
+Huntnfishnuts I fully agree with you Huntnfishnuts, it was clearly not his first time running that machine. Thanks for watching
I’m requesting a sewing pit be put in my next house! Such a good idea!
Great idea!!
Neat to see a tent being made, hope it brings you years of enjoyment
+Bradley Coles thanks Bradley me too... LOL
Yes I'm glad I was able to go see the final stages of the tent being made. Terry is a fine fellow and makes a wonderful product, as this area is peppered with his tents every year. I couldn't leave here without having one of his tents.
Great seeing stuff made down home
Right !!!
Very interesting watching the tent getting made, looking forward seeing it all set up with the stove and all. Thanks for sharing!
+Rendezvous Thanks my friend, me too. LOL in the final stages of a move now so I won't be setting it up until I get to Stephenville in June. But this tent and stove will get a lot of use over the next few years that's for sure.
You will enjoy the tent Charlie, I am glad I had mine from Terry as well, happy camping!
+Dave Wilcox Jr Outdoors Thanks Dave
Nice watching this Charlie enjoyed watching the video they do quality work in everything they make hats off to terry and Steve enjoy ur outings and keep the videos coming
+Tyler Rumbolt Thanks Tyler, I got a video of me eating the Porcupine you gave me. Very tasty.... Loved it. I'll try to upload it over the next few days.
+Tyler Rumbolt Do you want some extra bottles, for bottling, we are not taking them with us in the move
+NLGhostWolf yup be greatly appreciated thanks
Nice tent Charlie and I have an idea that you will get a lot of use out of it. Enjoy my friend and happy tenting.
+NSTRAPPERHUNTER Thanks Barry. I hope you are right.
Very nice looking tent, Terry was over to my shop a few years back, tell him Phil from Phils Archery says hi, he was getting a few arrows from my.
+Bucacamp I never knew he was into archery Phil, I'll will do that. Do you know if he is into traditional archery or compound?
Just checking out your old tent video. Man, I wish I had the industrial machine making my tent now. LOL
Yes I bet, and the set-up he has with the sewing machine in the floor. He is definitely handy on the sewing machine. I did a little sewing in my time but if I tried to operate at his speed I'd have a lot of needle holes in my fingers LOL
@@NLGhostWolf I love the set up with the floor. Ingenious. I have the fabric flopping all over the place. I had to set up extra tables to support the weight.
Awesome, thanks for sharing that. As a Newfoundlander living away its great to see cottage industry flourish back home. Trying to set up my own little sewing factory to make canvas products but on a smaller scale than Terrys Tents! cheers
Glad you enjoyed the video, best of luck with your business I hope you have great success. Thanks for watching, much appreciated.
Great Video! looks like a very well built tent! Thanks for posting!
+UPNORTHOF60 Glad you liked it.
looks like good times ahead!
+wilmore newman Yes my buddy, looking forward to getting the tent in use... Any snow in your part of the island?
+NLGhostWolf Not much snow in our area Charlie.
great video, he can sure sew fast!..i bought a couple new ones this year, 14X16s and figured sense they are new that I didn't need to use a fly, wrong! lol.. they leak on the seems, guess cause the canvas is treated before the tent is made...another thing i figured out is that there is no way I will ever roll a tent up as good as the guys who make them! have fun with your new tent!
great tent you got there, well built
+Wallace Vivian seems to be, I'll do a review on it at some point. I'm looking forward to getting it out in the woods.
Good stuff Charlie! That looks like a great tent!
+Efish3 I'm looking forward to getting it out in the woods and setting it up. To much to do with the retirement and move prep to do it now and it's driving me crazy. I'd love to be sleeping in it tonight.... I'm guessing the first time this tent gets set up it will be on the Harry's river this summer... Salmon fishing.
Hope its a great trip for ya! Take care..
+Efish3 Thanks Eric
Nice tent......hope you enjoy it buddy!!!
+rodney newbury ya me too LOL Thanks
Looking good Charlie. Migwech
+Kirk McCutcheon Thanks Kirk
great channel. my father was stationed in goose bay back in the 60s.i lived in badger..thank for posting.
if I didn't already have a tent I'd buy one
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like the channel. I'm going to try and get the tent set-up in the next couple of days for the first time. I will be going for a few rabbits as well. I haven't slept in a wall tent since I was a young boy when dad, my grandfather and I would sleep in one when we fished Harry's River for salmon. It's been a good 40 years since I camped in one. Looking forward to taking this Step Back In Time.
I used a small 9 x9 wedge tent up in northern ontario. I don't use it much anymore since I built the cabin..but those times I did were the best times of my life..
Iv been listening to your vids all night at work. Driving me crazy I can't watch at work. But iv got ya subbed so I will be keeping an eye on ya..my good eye..lol
Thanks my friend much appreciated, I hope you enjoy the vids. I want to build a nice little camp, but I can't choose one single place to build. Some many wonderful spots to pick from. Nothing beats a nice camp but like you've said there are great times to be had in a nice hot tent/wall tent....
I was listening to your vid of you lookin for your grandfather's old cabin.damm near brought me to tears...loved that you saved hinges and nails.
It did bring tears to mine. Now dad has passed to. I might build a wooden floor there to put my tent on.
Got a 9x12 coming to cape Breton looks like going to be a good winter
I hope you post a video of it when you are out there camping. I plan on getting out with mind this fall and coming winter as well. I was just so busy last year I never got a chance. This winter will be different as I will make the time for some camping in a good old canvas tent... Hoping to put it to good use on a moose hunt and for some rabbit catching as well.
love the tent Charlie. my have 2 get 1 from Terry's myself.
+Robbie Moore Yes Robbie, he's been at it for some time and uses that lock stitch he talked about in the video. I plan on doing a review on my tent later this summer once I've had a few outings with it. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with the customer service and the looks of the product, and it's nice knowing that the man who's name is on the logo actually sews on the tents that bare his name... For me, that is very important... You have a major part in the design of your tent, when I first ordered the tent I had a number of questions which helped me decide on the location of the additional windows. I was strongly debating having a zipper on the back wall as well to open up the tent and allow max air flow during the hotter days when lounging around the tent waiting for dinner or just napping before heading out for an evening fish or hunt....
That was interesting watching him own that Juki.I have an industrial singer sewing machine. It owns me.He makes it looks easy to sew that fast but it is not.I decided against canvas for synthetic 10 years ago.Hind sight it was the wrong decision.Mostly because of condensation issues.Canvas is no where as drippy as you nylon/poly tents.I was afraid of having problems drying a canvas tent out as I live on the west coast in the rain forest. If I replace mine it will be a canvas wall tent.cool vid.
+River rat Thanks RR, yeah if I were to try that I'm sure I've have my fingers sewn into my tent. I've sewn a couple of small projects over the years with my wives standard sewing machine and nearly nipped my fingers a number of times. I'm going to build a quick drying rack in back of the house to make sure it is completely dry before I store it for any long periods of time. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching
Looks a top quality tent.👍 You'll have it for years, if ya treat her good😉
+Minktrappingpaddy I'm hoping so, I'll be making a frame to hang it behind the house just in case I do have to take it down in the rain, I'll be able to quickly re-hang it and let it dry out before storing it waiting for the next adventure.
Thanks for letting me know
+nick avery here is the website they have
www.terrystents.ca
That's where u got it the tent for my favourite video that is
Yes sir
my condolences
thank-you, But I do plan on getting out for some camping with that tent. Hard to believe I've been home almost a year and I still never got out camping with it yet.
lol not his first one that's for sure! made my own the other year not as neat as that one though lol really like how the windows are.
+labradormadtrapper right on, thanks my friend. I plan on trying to make a much smaller one in the future with lighter canvas for the solo trips. One that can be easily stored on a kayak for the much warmer nights in the summer. My only concern with this tent is going to be trying to keep the bears out of it during the day when I'm not around, (gone fishing, snaring, hunting, trapping, etc...) I plan on using the stove to cook with and I'm afraid after a bacon and egg breakfast I'll come back to find the tent destroyed by a bear. Looking at getting one of those portable electric fences for camping like they use in grizzly bear country or up north for the polar bears. I know of one person here who had his tent destroyed by bears, have you heard of this happening to many people?
+NLGhostWolf auctually no I haven't but must people I know usually aren't out in tent in the summer mostly winter time. Good camping when there's no flies.... Lol
+labradormadtrapper Yes you are right about that. No flies equals good camping. Maybe I just won't cook in the tent until I get an electric fence.
how about some vids of the tent being used
I been trying to get out with the tent for a bit now. I was very busy in my retirement having to drive my father back and forth to dialysis 3 times a week but he passed away last month. I was planning a few nights in Feb for a winter camping/rabbit snaring trip but life got in the way.
I ordered a 9x12 tent there in June, not happy with the quality, as far as terry,s tents addressing my issues nothing, pretty disappointed it was a big purchase , according to the date on tent and when it was ordered and when I was called and told was starting tent don't match up .
Oh, that's not good... Not good at all. I have had nothing but good dealings with Terry. I'm not sure what happened to your tent purchase. He did tell me that during times when they are not busy they will make a few extra's in the most popular sizes of 8x10 and 9x12. Sounds like you might have been given a pre-made tent. I hope Terry comes good with your issues and you get it resolved soonest... If he don't help you out let me know. I'll be doing some camping in mine in the very near future and don't mind giving a review and passing on info both good or bad on the products I use. I'll be doing a review of my own on my hunting boots I purchased last year. Wore them out in least then 9 months... Not Good
just talking with my dad.he is wondering if the airbase is still open in goose bay?
Yes, I did my last 3 years of service there at the base. I wore a number of different hats because the base has greatly down sized. I was the SAMS (Senior Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent) for 444 Sqn, I was the AFSO (Aircraft Fluid Servicing Officer) for 444 Sqn and the Deputy AFSO for the Base, I was the Arrival and Departure Guard Commander for the Base, I was the Mayor for the Community Council for the Base, as well as the Acting SAMEO (Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Officer) and SWO for 444 Sqn. A very busy 3 years to say the least.
I bought a 9x12
+nick avery Right on Nick, I think you are going to love it.
This darn move has me so busy I can't get out in the woods with my tent yet, but will this summer. Can't wait
Winter camping is intents
You're a punny guy !!! Thanks for watching
Can I use kevlar thread to sew canvas?
I don't have a clue my friend. Better off checking with a canvas tent maker or someone who has lots of experience with working with and sewing canvas.
So have you been able to use your beautiful tent yet?
no not yet but very soon, as moose hunting season is right around the corner.
How much do they cost
+nick avery Base price on this one 8 x 10 is $699.00
