I’m about to get my dreadlocks started and originally I was set on extending them since my hair is barely long enough to get them started, but now I’m thinking about just letting them be super short and just letting them grow. I think it is hard not to fall in the trap of needing long locks to feel beautiful and feminine. But I think it is a true test of patience and letting go of vanity.
When you first took them out, it was such a shock because I've only known you to have long beautiful locs and gorgeous hairstyles, but now that I've seen you with shorties it's really a different beauty. I even like the bare locs on you. It's a more "natural" look and like someone else said, it really brings attention to your beautiful face more, not away. I always liked the look of long locs, but girl once again you're changing my mind 🙈

I cut mine, almost all the extensions are out. I showered and washed them without all the extensions, and omg! I love it. So happy that I did it.
I still have my beads in them and charms. I'll see how this goes, if I want them long again I'll put the hair back in... But right now I do love them! Thank you, you are so inspiring ❤️

the hair bling would still rock --- I love the C concept Lock looks too -- you could do your beads to direct the visual hard to explain but do an angle line towards the front tips ---

@@LizaLocs I do the add on wool and I love the dread look -- but for me, I am also a weight lifter it's just to much work for me -- so I am removing mine tonight and just going to admire from a far -- but I do rock a hawk ha

You look great, Liza! My locks are fresh and short (a little shorter than yours) and I am not getting any extensions in the near future, I am really happy with the way they feel. Oh, and I love decorating them at this length!
I would have a question, since I know you wash them relatively frequently. I try to space the washes out more and more because my head get itchy the first days after washing (and I use a very natural, clean shampoo). It was a problem before getting the dreads too. Would this spaceing worsen or help the problem?
Maybe just add super loser wispy ends to the shorties ??? 🤩 I’ve wanted to cut mine but I’m too nervous!!!! I’m sure I’ll do it some

You used the term “hair pretties.” When I was little, I called any kind of hair band or clip a “hair pretty.” I thought that was the name of them until I was in high school and my best friend made fun of me for it. Did I make that up or do people actually call them that?
My daughter who’s 17 teases me so badly about saying hair pretties! 🤣🙈 I try to use other words but sometimes it just comes out because THATS WHAT THEY ARE! 🤣🙌🏻 love it!
Your dreadlocks look well formed though, if you keep them short they will probably grow pretty fast. Mine are about the same length as yours right now maybe a bit shorter and they grow so fast. It’s pretty amazing. And you look good with this length. As well🥰

How old where your dreads before you added extensions? I was told I had to wait until like were mature 1-2yrs
