    Another informative video, thanks, we just came back from 5 months in Argentina spending 2.5 months in Buenos Aires and 5 weeks in each Cordoba and Mendoza and ate out 5 to 6 nights a week. It would have been well within your budget.Our airbnbs were on the smaller side (500sqft) our average monthly rate was $1275 CAD so just under $1000 USD our average spend was around $2750 CAD including rent and transportation which was very good and affordable. The cities were be beautiful and safe. also you budget would be very reasonable in our favourite location SE Asia...Thanks for the update Cheers

      Playa Del Carmen is the chosen city of Argentinans in Mexico, they have the highest population of Argentinans in that city.

      Thanks for the information. We know that there are places that would reduce our monthly costs, besides changing locations totally, but we do have quite a bit of stuff that we travel with and in the smaller locations, it gets to feel a little claustrophobic with boxes and bins all around us. LOL, that is just us though. Thanks for the valuable input!

    Spendy Time in PLAYA... wow! I recently took my whole family to Hawaii for 2 weeks stayed in a condo with EVERYTHING! on the beach 2 master suites, large sundeck... Pool easy walk to beach... lovely!! also included a rental car, and 4 RT plane fares it was around the same price... But I will say my advantages in Mexico is Private space in the family home... everything nearly walking distance, and Public transportation steps away... It's all what you can get depending on where you go. and like you said what we are really buying is PEACE OF MIND! Lower blood pressure and all that good stuff! :) I love watching you enjoy MEXICO!! Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks Diana. Yeah, it was pricey and guess, what, it isn't the worst yet! Wait until you see the numbers for Tulum. I haven't peaked at them yet, but I am betting that they are going to be worse than Playacar. If the haircut was any indication, then, well just WOW. LOL

      @@GringosRUs OH MY! I forgot about Tulum! Yeah, Probably more expensive...
      When I planned out our family travel to Europe ( 21 days) I booked everything in advance... It was only about 4 thousand... We had purchased Euros for spending in advance but hotels and condos were booked in advance on my card... Compared to that trip I think you are still paying more... My Rental a SUV was a little over a thousand, but i was VERY lucky with places to stay... what makes Mexico so cheap for me now is having family there to help with places to stay... They know the ropes!! :)

    I live in playa car. I use to rent a house here and now we live in a 2 bedroom condo. It would be very difficult to live here as a couple for less than 3k a month all in. You can live in other parts of Playa for half that but playa car is very expensive.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 17 dny

      Yeah, Playacar is pricey. We didn't realize quite how much until we were there. But that is part of the journey, learning about the different cities. Thanks

    I completely understand the comment re PDC being touristy and not providing the local Mexican vibe. We bought a condo in Tulum a few years ago and love visiting, but it will always be a vacation rental investment property for us. After multiple trips to San Miguel de Allende, we fell in love with that beautiful city and now have a home in escrow. (We close at the end of May.) We plan to retire there by the end of this year. And while it can be on the higher end when it comes to the cost of living... we live in Hawaii -- the most expensive state in the U.S. to retire.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 3 měsíci +2

      That is so true Rick. Tulum is a place that should be seen by everyone, but for us, vacation only. The highlands obviously hold a special place for us as well. We will have to get together when you get to SMA as we will be back in Queretaro by December for 6 months.

      @ 49Lika50, I agree with you on Hawaii... I went every year for 7 years in 2018 I went twice that year... Then during the Pandemic went to Mexico and got hooked again because they were OPEN... So yeah Mexico has many places with a similar vibe to Hawaii for "pesos" on the dollar hahaha... It's so sad to me when everything becomes so Tourist oriented that they lose that authentic vibe... I had Friends on the North shore of Oahu that taught me How the Islands are supposed to be... both have passed away now... so it's changed too much for me sadly!!

    Did you come over to Cozumel? Its about as mexico as pdc. prices similar. Its 100% tourist related here with majority cruise ship people.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 3 měsíci +1

      We've been to Cozumel as a cruise ship port of call a couple of times (Mr. Sancho's) and also as a resort guest. When you can pay for everything in USD, it's pretty much a tourist economy. We lump the island into everything Riviera Maya, and while we do like Cozumel, it was not in the running for a place to explore as a permanent home.

      My bad Cindy, normally I am pretty good about checking what is in the background and I totally missed that one. Yeah, we have done the riviera Maya so many times on vacation that it was really just a chance to chill for 7 weeks and recharge the batteries.

    I forget, was there a reason you decided in Playacar? There are cheaper places in PDC
    Puerto Morelos is a great town , have you tried there ?

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 3 měsíci

      We needed immediate accommodations anywhere in the entire Yucatan peninsula for 7 weeks during the busiest part of peak season. We were stuck in a dirty, nasty, uninhabitable Airbnb in Campeche that we needed to leave immediately. Pickings were slim or completely out of our budget. We spent hours searching, reached out to our former hosts, and reached out to our facilitator and our friends. We never really wanted to stay in that area. We basically got what was available with a queen-size or bigger bed. We did come out of it befriending our hostess, who was great.

    What's more expensive than Playacar? puerto adventures? Tulum?

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Overall, I would say Tulum. There are some neighborhoods in Akumal that can be pricey, if you want to live on the PGA golf course for example, but we would have to say that Tulum is really rather expensive in comparison.

    3:55 living off 3,000USD is completely easy in Riveria Maya lmao ??

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 2 měsíci

      It could be done but not in the parts of the Riviera Maya that we were in. You would have to remove yourself from the Gringo communities and live with the nationals. We enjoy that more than the Gringo communities and as we spend more and more time here in Mexico, we are finding ourselves actually more comfortable there. It is a little harder to locate those dwellings when utilizing a platform like Airbnb due to the demand for the units.

      As we are traveling Mexico and are forced into utilizing Airbnb's as we are only in each location for a matter of months, that exacerbates the prices. This one was especially that way as we were scrambling for a place after having to abruptly cancel our place in Campeche due to it being uninhabitable. We had to take what we could find at the last minute. I agree that it could be done on a lot less with a standard lease. Thanks for watching.

    Playacar overpriced and over rated. And Playa del Carmen is a dump.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  Před 2 měsíci

      We ever anticipated even putting any part of Riviera Maya on our rotation, Mike. It only was added so Gina could attend the music festival. Spending 14 weeks in Playacar and Tulum only reinforced our belief that we weren't of the right mindset to ever call it home for us. We prefer the less tourist infected areas. Thanks for watching.
