Fun fact regarding this boss: The devs actually programmed him to attack along with the beats of the song. That middle part with the choir is when the boss raises gracefully in the air and changes phase with lots of visual effects. Really drives the feeling of it being a godly dancing beast doing what it does best.

For context: the "most replayed" part in the middle happens when the boss is phase transitioning, and is unhittable while performing a dramatic visual effect. So as a player, in the middle of an intense fight, there is suddenly a moment where you are forced to pause. For me, that was when I first realized "damn this song SLAPS". Honestly made me feel like the first time I heard "Duel of the Fates".
and a lot of people dont know the boss is based off chinese lions

@@anonisnoone6125 hard disagree personally. The camera is frustrating, but all you have to do is not lock on and attack his legs when he’s done attacking. And i actually love the visual clutter, all the bolts of electricity and red fire intensifies the fight by like 10x imo

The most replayed section is when the boss starts using 3 elements and the music change to match which elements it's using. in the order you listened to, it's lightning => Ice (with the nice choir) => wind (with the strings going wild)

What makes this OST really fun is the fight that goes with it. Basically, The Dancing Lion has 4 phases wind, lightning, ice, and earth. Its cool because the boss changes phase with the music and not its health bar in pretty cool visual display
Earth? Is that the basic one? Also it goes up to 5 if you're fighting the second dancing lion, he got that death breath and he summons those death frogs that i don't feel they are worth remembering their name, they screwed me good back in the days in base game

YESSS so glad to see this ost, when I heard the phase 2 music during the boss fight I was so intimidated but amazed lmao.
Divine Beast Dancing Lion has quickly become one of my favorite tracks Fromsoft has released. It is so relentless and intense, but also has a hint of melancholy near the end. It is fitting as you fight an extinct civilization’s last remnant of pride.
The woodwind runs beautifully represent the storm and also the whirling, twisting movements of the boss. It's such a fun boss, especially with the music actually corresponding with the phases of the boss! Also the fact that it's so relentlessly full force makes sense because the boss, most of the bosses of the DLC even, doesn't give you much time to take a breath either.
I've been waiting for you to start covering the DLC soundtrack and I absolutely cannot wait for you to listen to The Lord of Frenzied Flame! Please do that one next?

Shoi Miyazawa is an absolute GENIUS at writing music. And this game is his first time doing it, which makes it even more impressive! Two other tracks made by him in SotE that go hard are The Lord of Frenzied Flame and The Promised Consort

@@alexboninsegna8050 Fromsoft has had good music for a very, very long time. and even though Bloodborne was the first Souls game to have a truly outstanding OST, Yuka was a necessary step into a more mainstream (which I don't mean in a bad way, I'm not a hipster) direction music wise. the budget increase helped more than anything else tho

so in phase 2 of the boss fight, this particular boss has three different "modes", one each for lightning, ice and wind attack forms. the boss changes from one mode to another in time with the music. so in a way the boss is dancing with you as you fight it. so keeping in mind the name of the boss and the instrument choices, you can clearly tell it's some kind of divine figure that dances to its own festival, and the tone of the song reflects its emotions in this dance against you, the player

It almost makes me think that the divine beast is either dead or spiritual, and “taking root within the tower’s sculpted keepers” Makes me think that the beast is possessing these two hornsent inside the lion costume. The sculpted keepers are essentially inacting the will of the “divine beast”

The rising woodwinds make me think of crashing waves or powerful gusts of wind. Which, in the context of this boss, makes sense.
The insane runs that the woodwinds repeat after the strings in the last part, and just those runs all together, I think represent the dancers coordinating with each other (the lion is manned by two dancers). Or maybe it represents it's channeling of the storm and the balanced contrast represents the dancers.

If you do another track from the Elden Ring DLC then I think it should be the boss music for Midra called "The Lord of Frenzied Flame". It is my favourite piece from the DLC.

Phenomenal OST. In an arrangement as solid as this, this track is still a standout. Anecdotally from comments I see across OST reviewer channels, I think the most popular would be this, Midra, and Promised Consort. Each has a very different style from one another and I'd love to see your analysis.

Inside the game while fighting the boss, this soundtrack is absolutely incredible. I had goosebumps almost the whole time.
I think the bossfight starts in the middle of the song, where it's a little more subdued and the most epic parts are during phase transitions. It feels like the whole city is sitting around the boss arena, playing instruments, singing the choir and cheering for their champion(s) and spiritually powering him up with the music.
When I finally beat the boss I felt a great mix of joy because I finally made it, and also sadness, because camera issues aside, the atmosphere is just amazing.
First set of abilities of the Lion: Wind-based
Woodwind runs for soft breezes, low rumbling of something brass-y for strong gusts of wind
Second set of abilities: Lightning-based
Storm drums for strikes of lightning, choir is (imo) the thunder, woodwinds are still present and sound stronger
Third set of abilities: Ice-based
Overall vibe of blizzard, wind became violent icy whirlwind, strings mostly replaced the woodwinds

This boss is very eastern inspired, it's is a Lion Dancer as the name suggests. Just two guys playing the role of a mighty beast and they're just as ferocious as one! The music is very eastern as well, switching back and forth between and combining European and East Asian styles. The lower registers in the second part of the song are constantly chanting like in traditional Japanese music, tho I forgot the name of that particular style of singing. It's amazing
I always love your interpretation of the music throughout games. How you see the phrasing and are able to pick apart a song in your first listen is something that’s very impressive. I’ve been going through lots of people’s music reactions and by far you’re one of the best when it comes to it. Elden ring has some phenomenal music too if you checked out some more. I could never focus on the music. Otherwise id be dead so it’s nice to finally listen to it outside the game
Shoi Miyazawa, the composer who did this track and a few others, composed a large portion of Fromsoft’s best OST tracks ever… and Elden Ring was his first ever game composing music for. Wild stuff. He’s an incredible new Gem that understands Melody of boss music whilst also corresponding it seamlessly to the Gameplay and its narrative connection to said bosses.
He’s done many great tracks in the Basegame of Elden Ring, of which you have not heard all of yet. But he’s also involved in doing two more *standout* tracks, in particular, for this DLC specifically that I think fans would love to see your videos on: those being *The Lord of the Frenzied Flame* and *The Promised Consort*
But, of course, not all of the tracks in this DLC are composed by him. There are equally incredible tracks from other composers in the DLC too. And so such is the case that I think you’d also enjoy the new *the Twin Moon Knight* by Tai Tomisawa, *Saint of the Bud* by Tsukasa Saitoh, and *Messmer the Impaler* by Tsukasa Saitoh. Of course, these above tracks are boss titles. And hence why, if you prefer ambient story tracks, there’s an emotional one in Particular by Yuka Kitamura called *St. Trina*
Please do Promised Consort as well, one of the best Fromsoft pieces ever

The musical change breaks occur whenever the boss decides to not hold back anymore. Eldenring and its predecessors are no for multi stage bosses. Therefore the music changes whenever the boss becomes more aggressive

You should listen to The Saint of The Bud, or Bayle The Dread! These 2 are perhaps my favorites and I honestly cannot stop listening to them
You should definitely checkout some of the MHW OST, like safi'jiva, bazelgeuse, alatreon and fatalis themes!
You definitely need to check Midra's theme and Promised Consort Radahn's Theme. Another great one would be the Tree Sentinel Theme but those first 2 are top tier

This song really sticks in my head, playing all day. Actually, this was the first EVER souls boss where I had to turn off the music because it was distracting me so much. Between the music and the bosses absolutely astounding animations, it might be my favorite boss fight.

ELDEN RING - Midra Lord Of Frenzied Flame OST
For boss soundtracks, especially for games like elden ring, it could be cool to see you react to the boss fight itself with the music to get some more context for it after going over just the music alone like usual
I actually think it’s better, and quite unique, that the music specialists react to the Music and music alone. It gives the audience an unbiased / unfiltered sense of understanding of Music that the reactor can impart to us. If they have context on the screen, then their analysis can get skewed and biased based on what they see, rather than what they hear.
Regardless, often times good Music reactors like Marco and Tony have such a deep understanding of music that they can decipher the narrative of the boss based on the music alone anyways. No need for Visual clues

It could be a fun little thing for him to see what he felt during the song reaction compared to what it’s actually complementing in the game like the phase transition part
