It was soul destroying to see WWF destroy a brilliant team.
Fans were screaming at the top of their lungs for them at Wrestlemania 6, then by Survivor Series 1990, WWF ruined them.
    Good ol' WWF.

Jonathan Turbide I loved LOD, but Hawk made a hell of a lot of mistakes. Where as Demolition were loyal and obedient. I'm wondering if that was why WWF suddenly turned Natural Disasters into faces.
As WWF would shortly be lacking a strong fan favourite team.

I think the unfortunate reason Demolition got pushed to the side was McMahon finally got his hands on the Road Warriors.
I give a ton of credit to Ax and Smash for being as successful as they were. Initially stuck with the label that Demolition were just Road Warrior clones, the two of them worked hard to earn the fans cheers.

    • @stufaman
      @stufaman Před 8 lety +10

reidkhnl They were a team that had a good run for just over 3 years. Yet fans remember them fondly to this day.
A modern wrestler could stick at it for over 10 or even 20 years, few fans care.

They definitely do, but I fear due to their concussion litigation against the WWE it’ll never happen. The McMahon’s are bloodthirsty scumbags who treat their talent like the Amish treat their animals....work them to death and throw them away when they have no use for them. The McMahon’s are piles of shit and Vince hold grudges for decades. In fact, I’ve read the only reason they put the warrior into their hall of fame is that he told Vince he was dying and worked a deal with Vince to sell merchandise after his death and cut a large percentage to the warriors wife and kids.

Demolition were a great tag team, one of the best in the WWE for several years. The decision-makers at WWE were so foolish to replace Ax with Crush, then to split the team up. If the WWE hadn't changed anything about them, Demolition would have continued to be one of their top tag teams for years. I knew WWE was making a huge mistake when they brought in Crush, and an even bigger mistake when they got rid of Demolition altogether. But I'm glad that fans still remember Ax and Smash fondly, because they had a reputation for being hard workers and real good guys.

  • @dallascowboysnumberonefan4863

When demolition added crush on paper it made them look like a badder version, but crush was green ax wasn't wrestling but an occasional 6 man match other wise he played the role of manager, they always had to cheat, the fans didn't care about them anymore, turning demolition heel in 1990 after being so popular as babyfaces was not a good idea, then they added mr fuji in late 1990 but it wasn't the same like it was in 87 88,then ax left the wwf,so after ax left demolition should have been disbanded, the dream feud between demolition and lod was terrible because ax wasn't no longer with demolition, when people think of demolition they don't think of smash and crush or even.ax,smash, and crush they think ax and smash, adding crush and turning demolition back heel so soon after turning face 1 year prior hurt the team.

Demolition was the best thing to ever have happened to Bill (career-wise). He deserves it. He was often overlooked and under rated and even unrated as the Masked Superstar but Demolition really opened a lot of doors for him after he left WWE. I don't know why the people in WWE are so pissed off at him just because he decided to take the Demolition character and everything that came with it as his own. I thought Vince said " We wish you the best in your future endeavours! " Now that the best did happen to Bill The WWE turns their back on him and Smash. Smash didn't do anything "wrong" but WWE disses him as well. Now I know why Ax lead the team. You go boy!!!

I guess this was the only time where Vince destroyed his creation to put over some tag team from the competition... it was so sad to see how Demolition disappeared.. and that WM 7 match pleaaaaaaaaase!!! that night LOD took on PAG (an underrated tag team in my eyes)and they squash them ... WWF had a great tag team division but they didnt got the push that they deserve like Power and Glory, The Killer Bees, The Beverly Brothers, The Rockers, Orient Express and many others

Demolition was my favorite tag team of all time. I liked them way more than LOD. I don't think they were a rip off of LOD either despite the weenies out there saying so.

I didn't like how they broke up Demolition. And why aren't Demolition in the Hall of Fame! I don't support how wwe let the new day break Demolition title length!!!! For all you young bloods Demolition at the time is the only tag team that three repeat in the wwf at the time!!! I'm 51 and I remember when both of these guys came into the wrestling industry Ax and Smash are my favorite team besides the Road Warriors!!!

Smash was amazing and always the more well put together and more exciting member of Demolition. His make up, hair, physique...was super strong for his size too...I remember him body slamming Akeem and boss man who were both bigger. Think he attempted to slam Andre too!
Should have gone singles as Smash...Fucking brilliant character and alway exciting to watch in the ring. Repo man sucked!

they fucked up putting crush into the as a doubles tag-team, as a triples and as a 4 man tag team increasing the demolition stable may be I think the idea initially was was likely to create a six man and 8 man tag division however the concept failed and was likely causes bad ratings, I think in some ways I think vince likely saw the writing on the walls that at that stage the tag division was stale ..
when they pyush someinto singles careers kinda killed the brand..
Lookiing at where WWE is today i can't see reliving the 80's again then again looking at the narrative there is no build up these dsys

Oh man, the WWE nowadays has nothing going on. Absolutely nothing. Forgettable characters, total unknowns, no image to speak of, when you consider we had Macho Man, Demolition, Undertaker , Hart Foundation etc etc. And half the show is macho posturing and yapping crap into a microphone..... Wtf dudes ? Wrestle, goddammit !!! 2 shows in, i gave up. The golden days of wrestling are gone forever
