Vaders suit was slow, heavy and cumbersome while also causing him a great deal of pain and many sleepless nights. In legends Vader had the chance to upgrade his suit. This shit would have allowed him to come close to his full potential, giving him the speed of Anakin Skywalker but with the strength of a droid. However, the procedure was risky and would have possibly led to the Sith Lords death. Secondly, the suit itself was a reminder to Vader of all the evil things he had done as well as keeping him in near constant agony, deepening is connection to the dark side. By upgrading his suit, Vader would have likely become a far more powerful duelest but he would have lost a large part of what made Vader Vader. Less physical pain would have given him a clearer mind, thus resulting in the resurgence of Anakin Skywalker and the regrettable memories that brought him.

I have to disagree with VadersFortress on this one. You have to look at from the "long game" point of view.
Vader wanted revenge on Palpatine. And if he upgraded his suit to allow him to be a better warrior, this would have warn Palpatine that he was possibly looking to over throw him. By staying in his cumbersome suit, Vadar was able to stay off Palpatine's immediate radar.
Of course Palpatine trusted nobody, but at the same time he didn't look for trouble. As long as Vader maintained the status quo, Palpatine gave Vader some leeway to operate.
@@ncob12 is that why you're so weak?

Or, in the 80’s they thought that his suit was super high tech and didn’t need upgrading
Idk if this can explain anything, but in Splinter of the Mind's Eye (1978),Vader can't use force lightning either. He can only do so because of the Kaiburr crystal that increases a force sensitive's power.
Bingo!
you dropped your crown, king 🤣🔥
, i thought the same thing,
Homie there has been a lot of additions to the story. Do you just deny them? Also, this is from legends, which Lucas himself greenlit the story
I love how Vader is the body but Anakin is the mind. And Ani doesn’t want to forget the terrible choices he made and the consequences.
Vader is the denial. Vader is Anakins excuse for the terrible things he did , which originally he did for Padme but when she died (and remember Anakin saying he couldn’t live without Padme) he needed an excuse to continue living, and his excuse was Vader, a being separate to Anakin had done those terrible things, or so he told himself. Anakins mind basically broke and he created a whole new identity for himself in order to continue living, an identity that is pure anger, cruelty, and evil.
Vader is Anakins coping mechanism, for the pain of loss and regret he would feel if he returned to the identity of Anakin, and stopped thinking of himself as Vader.
It’s the other way around. Vader took over a skins mind and the body is mostly robotic but also anakin.
@@waffles5088 I’ve been looking for a video that gets into that idea but I haven’t found any yet, thanks for your explanation.
Vader is one of those villains you cant hate. He as good, but turn on the wrong path. Vader is supposed to be evil ,and he is, but he decided to keep his pain from the past. Keeping his memories and reminder of how he failed and how he failed to be a hero. Rip dude
And palpatine wouldn’t allow him to be more powerful than him as he was afraid that he would one day overthrow palps
Eh that wasnt a major reason, its the way of the sith and palp often taunted vader about how he could never kill him, palp was wanted his successor to be more powerful than him and when vader failed in doing so he kina saw that as no one else was worthy enough to fulfill the role so he might as well stay at that position.
@Punch Line at first he wanted to but after I would say esb palp lost hope in vader overthrowing him so thats why he turned to luke because it was basically a second chance at his original plan. But palp for a good time wanted vader to overthrow him but the thing is he lost alot of his potential so that kinda fucced up his plans.
Palp never considered vader a true apprentice since mustafar.
@@spiderboy-fm3cv what? Yes he did he just didn't take him all that seriously since he knew vader would never surpass him but he was still very much the apprentice, thats why he would always find other darkside users potential stronger to challenge for vaders spot.
Vader has actually modified his suit countless times.
He forced himself to constantly be in pain so he could have that anger and adrenaline pumping. And so he wouldn’t doubt himself to stray from the darkness

@@TechDove That's not exactly "whenever".
It was sad when Luke took his father's mask off and he finally let go of the feeling that he needed the dark side to feel fulfilled and actually remembered who he was when his son was there
He might’ve also felt he didn’t need it, and the fact he rarely loses a fight even with being slow is what I live about Vader, that he knows how powerful he is and hardly has to try
What make Vader so deadly is his connection to the dark side of the force, that's how he managed to hunt down every jedi that survived order 66.
Well the main point of Vader is he’s much weaker after Mustafar, he had like over half of his potential in the force put off when he lost his limbs and burned
@@DefecTec well he's not as mobile, but the pain his suit caused him and the anger over losing Padme made his connection to the darkside stronger- i agree he's not as agile but i don't think the body affects his force power
@@TheSuperSpud it was explained by George himself bro. Essentially since midichlorians are in your blood cells when Anakin most his limbs he lost around half or over half of his potential, because when his limbs were cut off he didn’t have all those midichlorians anymore. That’s also why Sidious was pissed when Dooku cut off Anakin’s arm in Episode II, he didn’t want Anakin to become damaged and less powerful. But even in the end even after being burned Vader was still more powerful than most Jedi
@@DefecTec ah okay
Vader why did you not upgrade your suit?
Vader: PAIN AND SUFFERING, PAIN AND SUFFERING
“Technological terror is no match for the power of the force” - Darth Vader
If I remember correctly General Grievous was actually Palpatine’s reference for creating Vader’s suit.
He gave Vader’s suit certain Weaknesses so that he couldn’t go full Grievous and become nearly unstoppable.
Yeah. Palps was still worried about Vader overthrowing him and wanted the suit to be a reminder of his loss as well as a deterrent.
It always pains me whenever I see Vader or think of him. His Story is very brutal and emotional. I love him
But it’s a good story
Facts
I’m always sad because Anakin is my favorite character, so never being able to see Anakin in his prime hurts me, in my eyes he would’ve been far superior than any other jedi that has ever lived
@@TribekaGaming couldn’t have said it better myself. They need a what if movie or show
I’ve rewatched the movies, the clone wars and now kenobi and honestly before I saw him as this merciless killing machine but now I see him as a broken man in that suit with wires instead of organs and someone who is so emotionally destroyed and mentally broken with no friends, the blood of his wife and kid on his hands no way to calm his mind cause he’s afraid anakin will come back and he blames him for everything, so he goes on crazy missions hoping it will be his last but his will is too strong to let himself be defeated and for some reason I relate to that so much
Imagine if Vader upgraded his suit?
He probably could've survived Palps lightning at the end of ROTJ. Then him and Luke couldve maybe been able to spend time as father and son. Not to mention, after sometime Luke could have grown stronger and more knowledgeable in the force to probably heal Vader's lungs.
@Juggled Lotus I dunno, cuz that was him as a young man, after all those years of being a pawn to Sideous I imagine he’s been through a bit of a silent arc of his own where being held under an iron fist just drains your soul and he’d behave more rational and kind, since he risked everything for his son.
@@Uppercut92 I mean he risk everything and died for it sadly tho it would’ve been awesome for Vader to be alive and just obliterate Kylo ren or at least change him or something
@@brotherhoodstarpaladin2789 lmao didn’t ben solo became kylo ren because he wanted to be darth vader
I find it quite hilarious
Ok so I get what you're saying but Vaders suit was short circuited by Palpatine so could keep him in line with the Force Lightning. His original suit made him more powerful because of the pain it caused him. He was more powerful than Palpatine and was going to kill him but he didn't want too. And as far as it goes for Luke saving Vader the rebellion probably would have had him executed and Luke would have been branded a traitor and be executed as well. Also Vader didn't have any more hate in his system to stay alive. Why would he stay alive after all that happened to him
@@brotherhoodstarpaladin2789 Vader had reasons to fall to the Dark Side, and he also didn't want to live anymore
Honestly, I’d probably want to upgrade it so that my pain is still there but also increase my speed and agility. With this I can reach my full potential and keeping my connection to the dark side though I feel like this is a “You can’t have your cake and watch everyone eat it in front of you two.”
OR it could be "I *hate* myself and what I did to my wife, -and all the people who raised me or even remotely cared about me- I've lost our child -children- with her, *THIS* is me punishing myself for being the literal worst person in the galaxy. -Besides Palpatine.- "
I think it’s to disconnect with himself from Anakin as much as possible. Slow movement is the opposite of speedy jedi Anakin, so it’s basically that everything about his suit is opposite of his Jedi self imo
*too 🧐 YW
I can only imagine the smell of burnt leather and a suit that was about 50 years old when Vader died.

@@shahaffiq5860 Correct
It would be like changing the Coca Cola recipe. There would be outrage if he changed suit
@@shahaffiq5860false, he would’ve been better than Grievous, Grievous LACKED light saber skills and technique so he had extra appendages(arms) installed on his body to make up for the lack of Skill and power.
He also lacked connection with The Force which is ALSO a reason why he needed all those enhancements.
Vader would’ve had just gotten better cybernetics for his arms and legs BUT still retain all his light saber skills and techniques AS Vader but also REGAIN his old Form 5 techniques he had as Anakin AND skills. And Vaders natural affinity with The Force would’ve helped him duel better and made him a better combatant overall, he would’ve kept his connection with the force considering he was BORN from the Force and was The Chosen one.
Palpatine kept close eyes on him though and probably wouldn’t allow Vader to get stronger.
Vader: “I want to remain a powerful Sith Lord!”
Also Vader: “I don’t want to be *that* powerful of a Sith Lord.”
The suit gave him constant pain which fueled his connection to the dark side.
Pain and suffering
@@leadnsteel1428 if he really wanted pain he can just add that setting
@WheatyBoy ayo 😳
Vader's situation reminds me of alot of people in life....simple tweaks could change their situation immensely but they hold on to their pain and an artificial state of being as a consequence
And the biggest point:
Palpatine was preventing him from doing it so he wouldn’t be a potential risk.
Up until the end, Anakin was a Jedi at heart. Little things prove this: his connection to Ahsoka, his continued love for Padme, yet it was now changed. The suit became a reliquary for his Jedi self; as could be seen, Sith Lord Darth Vader could physically be removed from the suit, his body suspended in Bacta to heal. The arms and legs were separate from the suit.
In Revenge of the Sith, as Vader was released from the table, the discovery of Padme's death only fueled part of the rage. He reached within, to that spot in the Force where he could always feel her love, AND it was blocked. He could not enter.
His suit was never a soldier's armor for the battlefield, more a reminder to everyone the fate of the Republic.
I believe he wore it as a reminder of betrayal, a reminder of sacrifice, then, one day, during a battle, he felt love again, felt Padme in an X-wing. Or on a planet, or in a ship.
Remove the suit, remove the basic limbs, augmenting him physically, increasing pain receptors, and he would have become another Grevious. Fast, agile, but with access to the Force. The Rebellion would have failed.
Eh rebellion wouldn’t have failed imo. The destruction of the 1st Death Star sealed it’s fate, Palpatine was losing the support of the keys to power and even a faster Vader wouldn’t be able to go around the entire galaxy killing every single rebel. Now if Palps bought a shut ton of star destroyers with the Death Star money the rebellion would’ve been fucked.
The Death Star rly fucked the empire over tbh, Windu must of reflected lightning onto Palps dick making him over compensate extremely hard afterwards. “How do we beat a far-flung force of guerrilla insurgents scattered on outlying loosely populated worlds? I know! Lets spend our whole military budget building a giant super slow laser that destroys one planet at a time! Genius!” Basically the F-35 of the Star Wars universe
@@JoeTheBroken except that wasn’t the real intentions of palpatine he was using that as a side gig I think he was preparing for something much much worse some from a different galaxy and he needed to rule the entire to be able to fight the coming threat which was some people called the Yuhzong gong or something weird like that

Those suits look awesome
These guys have a budget big enough to build a small planet, but vader gets an entry level base model suit.
I disagree with this assumption, when Vader was at the height of agony, his suit and life support failing, he DID become Annakin again. I think the pain was a reminder of what his choice had cost him, and kept him at least somewhat connected to the "betrayal" of his master.
Basically, Anakin’s life whole was a living hell

The Dark side also pulls power from pain, you can see this in the newest trilogy. In the newest trilogy, Ben Solo is seen hitting a wound, most likely to keep himself in pain. Vader probably would have stayed in the suit to keep a memory of his evil, but Palpatine kept him in it to keep him strong
Oh, is that why Ben does that? Interesting, that makes sense. I thought he was simply willing himself to push past the pain like as if he was just a regular person lol I forgot that pain could give power to dark side users!
One word. .. Nostalgia
I think the fact he was slower allowed him to make more devastating strikes on his enemy. While he would still be scary if he was fast, the fact that he walks slowly into any fight is just menacing. Actually in the Vader comics which are canon, Sidious gives Vader permission to customize his armor to his liking. But you're also right. Although he makes alterations, he keeps it cumbersome to harvest the dark sides power. He has something like 7 different suits of armor. Some making him taller. Some with slight alterations of his helmet for different atmospheres. There's always slight differences in his helmets from movie to movie.
Yeah. Kinda like having snow tires even though you dont always need them its still tge same old beater truck that gives ya hell.
It would be so cool to see all these different outcomes in a series/movie but unfortunately it just wouldnt make sense. Unless they class it as a spin off or something like that. So not cannon
