    Lighting
    1. I like the Space visuals with the galaxy bands/nebulas looking great.
    2. I would have loved to see a Gas Planet with rings.
    a. Line in Avatar
    b. Talk about taking you to a new World when you see your planet dwarfed by a gas giant it orbits.
    3. Moons are looking great.
    a. Add Bloodmoon and eclipse effect for celestial events.
    4. Please put aurora borealis up at the North and South poles that spawn from time to time to mix up the SKY VFX so it is not Static all the time.
    5. Nighttime lighting looks a lot better than before but still needs work to find that sweet spot.
    6. I would like to see the shadow of trees and other assets be a bit darker.
    7. I would also like to see a split screen or slides that the community can vote on showing different lighting darknesses.
    8. The VFX looks great at night.
    Spells:
    1. Ball lighting looks a lot better.
    a. Almost have it just right.
    b. The roundness of the orb needs to be dimmer at night and/or fad in and out a bit longer.
    c. When it gets into a full ball shape it hides and washes out whatever is behind it when it goes into full bloom mode.
    d. Adjusted for the daylight so you can see it too.
    2. The beam-changing elements are perfect.
    a. I would like to see a spec that makes the beam a cone or a bigger jet of fire that shoots out like a much smaller version of the cone of cold.
    b. I would also like the piercing spell ability as a weapon spec choice.
    C. And/Or AOE vs Single target options with accompanying VFX.
    3. Basic Wand effects look great. You guys nailed it with the wand taking on the element effect.
    4. Fireballs looks good, but I would like to be able to add a better burn VFX effect to Mod it.
    a. If a Mob drops dead from the fireball, it stays burning for a bit and smolders.
    b. If you crit with it, it burns the mob up into ashes like when you die in the game.
    i. Gives you the I'm a bad Ass vibe when you Nuke a MOB.
    ii. Mortal combat fatality with Fire, Ice, and lighting
    iii. We want fatal VFX hits on mobs that make you feel powerful when you erase one with a big Crit or Nuke spell.
    5. The lava pool on the ground looks OK but needs better VFX work.
    a. It would be nice if it had a lingering fire Dot it puts on mobs that walk through it.
    b. It should also slow down the targets that walk through it more than it did.
    6. The default DPS and Crit numbers are looking much better.
    Skill Tree: Weapon Progression:
    • I like where you are going with the Weapon trees.
    . The Weapon tree is looking far better. The background picture of the wand needs background art like in BG3 or POE tree backgrounds.
    • One thing I would like to see is a POE type of payoff if you go fully down a tree branch. A 4th option to a split branch that gives you something special to pick from.
    . would Like an option that adds a poison/fire DOT to missile combos that wraps the VFX of the missiles with a green outline showing you proced your poison missile combo.
    o or add a mana leach or de-buff to the target.
    • I would like to see the tree branches have more pathing to get from one side to another.
    • That way you can mix and match a bit more.
    • Make it look more like POE with circles etc.
    • The Box looks too ridged and does not look like it flows.
    Class Effects:
    • I hope depending on your selections it will change the VFX of how certain Abilities Play out.
    o A fireball when reaching a target will branch out to two other targets or add AOE splash damage.
    • Might have it where you cast Ball Light and the big orb splits into 3 smaller ones that fan out traveling faster than the big one.
    • A Big lightning orb spec option that gives you the ability to detonate the lighting orb when clicking the spell icon again.
    o Hitting with an AOE which grants a knockback, stagger, or short stun. Maybe the ability to choose the option you want It to have.
    . A fun one would be where the Orb rolls out quickly like a carpet into an electrified ground AOE DOT that you would not want to run through.
    • Or one that leaves an electrified ground or water trail behind it so that if a player runs through it, they are slowed or even get de-buffed and take more lighting damage.
    • More Choices that have different VFX effects like POE does when you augment or enhance your builds.
    • Being able to build a lighting wizard or fire wizard where you can spec into crazy VFX and ability mods so you can lean into it is wonderful.
    o Immerse yourself in the fire or lighting cosplay VFX aspects of the game. GW2 Fashion Wars.
    • Having the freedom to explore and mix and match is the best.
    • Options that take you out of the everyone that plays that class is a carbon copy of everyone else.
    • Add some spice and VFX eye candy into the paths you choose to mix and match.
    You guys are doing a great job keep up the good work. As a community, we are seeing more and more progress every month.

    Lineage 2 was my very first MMO and the fact we have someone taking inspiration from it and other mmo aspects has me so excited to eventually play this in 2050

    Started to follow the development recently and really looking forward to getting my hands on this game. I haven't felt an itch for an MMO since WoW's WotLK and Ashes of Creation has given me hope that the genre could be revitalized. Fantastic work! Keep it up!

    When I look back when all of this developlment started, everyone was suspicious if you could back up your words and intentions.
    And now, slowly, we see step by step how you improve the world and the game itself. Amazing.

    What types of upkeep/maintenance should we expect in game over the course of a month? Aside from Home taxes, will there be things like armor repair, mount caretaking, personal NPC pay (ex. shop keeper), ship repairs, or ship docking fees to name a few? Finding the balance between general do-what-you-want gameplay and grinding for that bread($) to keep paying your boat loan can be a tricky tightrope to cross.

    This looks great I'd love to see a sort of moon cycle wear the brithness of night changes depending on how much of the moon is visible. I think that would be a cool little detail.

    I love the wand/weapon skill tree and visuals
    Ball lightning seems cluncy to me, visuals are much better, but I don't see how I could use it effectively. (wasted skill points)
    Perhaps if we could spec into passives that could alter the way it behaves (like sticking in place or circling you)

    We currently suffer in current games from hackers and the absurd amount of bots, it's getting worse and worse each game released becomes their target and they end up destroying all the immersion and productivity of the game, I would like to know if you already have a defense team against bots? the TEAM I speak of is a specific TEAM designed for this role and only, and if you intend to be as transparent as possible with the community, thank you in advance

      ​@@AshesofCreation i doubt there is point to fight bots or cheaters on a "numerical" way, by means of coding. IMO best solution is same to counter strike's "overwatch" - let the community decide if it is a bot or not. Ofc make sure that there are GMs on top of that judging pyramid (on both sides), that check, if all good. Knowing people's phycology, how much some of them want justice - just let them cook, by preparing proper platform for judging.
      upd. maybe implement some system that rewards experienced bot-catchers that caught a lot of bots. f.e. like gift rare mount for 1000 bots, or cool pet for 50 bots. or maybe some soulbound healing pots (that cant be sold or traded, so it doesnt really affect economy that much) per 5 bots, or maybe some cosmetic things, etc.

    Would be cool to see spells affect environment when it comes to lighting, especially at night. Like all those lightning bolts or fire spell should be producing light that brightens the environment

    Was waiting to pre-order until a package caught my eye, checked back every so often -missed some that had some nice looking skins. Unfortunately checked back a few days ago and turns out the pre-orders were stopped a while ago, so I missed a chance for alpha 2 key :( Will keep an eye on twitter for hopefully some chances in the future

    Everything really looks amazing, night lighting, the sky looks crazy cool, and the details I like the most are the campsite fires and how it looks in dark night setting. What I would like to see is the mount and possibly caravans have like a lantern that gives the same light effect ant night. Visibility at night is dark but you can still see where you are going so the lantern light or maybe some fairies flying all over like mosquitoes can give that small area affect like the camp fires in the showcase. Excellent job so far ladies and gents, looks amazing and can't wait for 2042 game launch

Unfortunately I believe by the time it (if ever) gets released we will all be playing Holographic Deck style games, but you will have fond ( monthly digital Items in-game) memories and hopefully a cool but outdated Mug to drown your sorrows and think about all the real life Ca$h you could have put to slightly better use.

    Really interested about how your going to handle company interactions in game, I think it would be really awesome if GMs were in roleplay, and we see something like, an Intrepid employee descending to Verra as the spirit of vengeance, gathering all the bounty hunter players together to cleanse the den of a PK guild

    Can some of the architects be interchangeable with other types of architects to give players a feel of uniqueness to their home or business. Like you can change the flooring, tiles, roofing, trimming, walls, front porches, archways, counter tops, light fixture and decorations. You could even add this type of customizations to all crafting types.

    Mug handle is way too big, that's why it's difficult to hold. Make it more squareish and smaller, with a flat surface to hammer grip. That's how beer 🍺 jugs are made. It works. Don't change it. Size and shape of the cup is Perfect tho.

    Color scheme is on point! Would be nice to make it darker in the distance and make it lighter as you get closer to a specific area, that's the only thing about the dark night I think needs to be adjusted for more immersion. Something i noticed was the lack of shadown from the lightsources other than the night sky, some wacky big shadows from the fires as you get closer and so on would add to the immesion aswell.

    I think it would be a good idea to have large disclaimers or a copyright on the Alpha 2 so people who are playing and people who are watching understand that it's a work in progress and not a finished game. The lighting and spell effects are making great progress and look amazing already. I will say the light reflection on water seems too blinding. Also, I saw some comments on the stream about adding reflections from spells onto the environment, but I'm worried that doing so will result in too much clutter when there are multiple players. I'm sure you guys will make it the best it can be!

      I think the lighting with regards to the spells in this video that I found most jarring was that the spells has ZERO effect on the shadows on the ground. MASSIVE ball of lightning and there was still the dark shadow from the main moon under the affected character.

      It's never going to be finished. It would make no financial sense. They've made more than 80 million just "developing" it. Why actually launch and have all of the stress and work of class balance, dealing with bugs, ect? Videos like this ARE the product.

    I love the concept of Ashes and It is the first game where I look forward to actually test the game and provide feedback, even if I had to pay to get into the testing period. I think there will be a whole lot of people who buy in just to "play" and get a head start on learning the game. I think there is a serious vacuum left behind where people really want a genuenly good MMO

    Do you plan to have the spell lighting effect the environment? ie when you shoot a bright lightning spell, I would think that would light up the ground, create shadows etc etc.....or a glowing shield spell should produce light and shadows etc etc etc

    I really hope you guys add a scalar for dmg numbers. To me, they look a bit small and I understand that other people might have different preferences. That is why I think a scaler to customize the size would be awesome.

    My advice would be to have more than one set/tear/class (or weight category). I hate it when games force me into only one set of armor without the possibility to mix them and pick the stats I like most. (I'd say 3 sets of items/class would be best, but if u can equip any race gear on your character that would also help). Or maybe a well implemented transmog can fix the problem too, but it might take a bit out from the visual progression. Anyway, good job and keep up the good work!

    The skills should light up the environment as well, like the lightning and the purple skill thingy. It should affect the sand a bit.
    Also, the galaxies on the turtle should have lumen effect on the armor.

    the character's spells do not illuminate the environment (for example lightning, fire balls) which makes it a little strange, something is missing
    (for performance reasons, activate it only on our character's spells, or at a certain fairly short distance)

    Beautiful, really fresh VFX, you are starting to format a good unique design, visually, for your game. Can't wait to try alpha. Not to namedrop other games but if you can make it close to WoW combat feel wise, people will stay for a long time!

    Also for Q&A
    Q: Do you plan on showing off the variants of Cross Classing in the future?
    For instance, a Rogue - Mage that augments the Rogues abilities with Mage effects?
    Or a Warrior - Cleric where you can Imbue your attacks with holy magic - Soft heals?
    I would love to see some Cross Class content, as always keep up the great work Steven + Team, best transparency in the gaming Market.

    Ball of lightning looks way better now. It's still very onstructive like all the spell effects, and while in 1v1 and small group pvp Its not gonna be an issue, I am worried how it's gonna look in a larger fight like a raid vs raid in an open world. 2 groups of ~50 each fighting over who gets the boss, 10 wizards cast ball while warriors do their stuff and hunters leap and airstrike. Might be a light show for most of it and it's definitely not something desirable.

    The spells will look so good with global illumination on aswell, they look cool now but when your surrondings light up it will look and feel siiick

    1. Night time looks decent maybe 2-5% lighter but i do enjoy darker nights maybe on my own pc it will be just fine
    2. Weapon system looks amazing, not too complex but more indepth than just basic weapons in most games.
    3. I like mage spells however the lighting that comes from the wand and then comes back down from they sky i think needs work. I think it would look much better if it was a quick and small amount of electricity that shoots up from the wand and into the sky and comes back down big like it does already.

    as we start to see more talenttrees and abilitys i start wondering how AoC will handle unique playstyles and (maybe) "different" builds. for example will we see (unique) items and/or enchants wich supports a "health instead of mana as resource" build ?
    and with class skilltrees, augments and weapon talenttrees wonßt there be too many playstyles to balance ?

    When it comes to loot, it's important to strike a balance between making fighting enemies being rewarding with loot, and providing so many items it becomes an inventory management sim. It really helps for items to have a sort of drop rate that ramps up the more time you spend trying to get the item, not static RNG, but also, don't make it so we kill 3 enemies and get 3 of the same item, it gets out of hand fast. Wow had too much loot in terms of quantity, and not enough value to the loot, but when they made something rare, they'd make it a near miracle to ever get it. You'd have to empty your inventory 10,000 times when hunting for a damn Parrot... but I got that parrot, and then I caught another. Wouldn't have been such torture if the loot rate increased incrementally based on how many times you didn't loot it. If it has a 1/100,000 chance, if I don't get it for 99,999 rolls... it should be guaranteed on the 100,000th roll, and when the item is looted, it's table resets. It's fun to get lucky sometimes, it's never fun to get unlucky every time, there's always some percentage of players in this group when you use pure RNG.

    There's a wee bit too much distortion on the ball lightning and the fireball explosion looks cheap, but the other changes, colours, lighting, look amazing.

    Will there be any systems in place to support single/casual players in finding parties for group content (e.g. dungeon finder, recruitment chats)? Will these playstyles be viable in the open world, or will you be dependent on constantly finding players to group with? As someone with limited time to play I'm worried of being unable to progress through a vast majority of content without spending a lot of that time looking for a party

    When developing for PvP 6 month cycles of leaderboards and what not, does this mean that Intrepid may look at competitive PvP modes like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Team Deathmatch, Protect the King, etc. for instanced PvP/Battlegrounds/Arenas and potentially look at eSports with these types of game-modes? Is this something the team has thought about already?

    So for the elemental status effects being a "build it up then knock it down" system, are there any plans on making this more interestingly interactive to players? Some MMOs have similar systems that range from lame to great - EG, ESO's system of pressing X to interact with another player's ability, to GW2's system of player's combo-finishing actions getting special effects based off of other player's combo-starting AOE's? While this is a system I generally love, even in GW2 it becomes a spammy, un-coordinated thing at some point. Wondering if AoC has any plans to make it a more impactful system.

    there should be ambient lights from the spells. atleast in the video the lights from spells are really toned down. perhaps a slider for light effects and how of a big area they "light" . also i would suggest to have a dungeon that is dark and hard and mobs that have ambient light , like glowing eyes. and you only see those in the darkness until you use a spell of light or a torch. like even seeing the walls should be hard to see if no light source.

    Can there please be social clothing, not cosmetic.. but social wear for in town.
    My DANK armor and GAINS are too much of a burden to wear all of the time when I am crafting and talking mad shit about my GAINS.
    I would like to see some comfy clothing to wear while in town.

    I'm not initially worried about this potential issue in the game's early stages, but I've heard that if there's a level gap of 8-10 levels between players, the lower-level player won't receive experience points. This could be problematic when introducing friends to the game and wanting to play together. Are there any solutions, such as down-leveling characters to match the content's level, similar to other MMOs, or are players just out of luck? Additionally, I'm curious if the game offers any other mechanisms to address this issue, such as mentorship systems where higher-level players can temporarily adjust their level downward to match their friends'. Or perhaps there are alternative approaches.
