Fact: In real life Selena ran in the bathroom and hid and left chris to face her father 😂😭she was afraid . I find that very cute and funny
Kyla Butler If I’m Chris Perez I’d face Abraham anyway. Like he said he cared enough about her to give her everything she wanted so I would’ve at least tried to give it to her.
@@chrishinton9209 He faced Abraham on the bus when he first declared his love for her; I don't see him turning coward after Selena took him home to face the music.
How does this person know what really happened that day she broke the news to father?
Janine Simao, I think it’s in Chris’ book
How do you know
I love how Abraham was able to cool off and admit he was wrong to Selena as well as realize he was too harsh on Chris. Edward James Olmos killed it in this movie.
Yeah, as long as Selena was alive. Then he continued to treat Chris like trash. To this day he's not accepted in the Quintanilla family.
That seemed like more an act now that his true colors are showing he dislikes Chris and never accepted him into the family.
He sure did, he was fantastic
@futuremovieactor
In real life, that didn’t age well. He still continued to treat Chris like crap. He only accepted Chris out of fear that Selena would quit the band, which would mean no more making money off her lol.
@@amylee8969 Yeah. It's a shame to hear that Abraham never actually accepted Chris in real life. Just another thing to add to a very sad situation.
I bet when abraham welcomed chris into his family it meant alot for selena
Too bad the two are still at odds with each other in real life.
@@killer92173 moreso on Abraham’s end
@@luisa.barrueta1822 they act like he don’t exist. Abraham even took him to court when he wanted to turn the book into a miniseries.
Unfortunately it didn’t last . The moment she passed he went back to his old ways and hated him . He even sued him and anyone that had anything to do with Selena is ridiculous he’s money hungry and that greed that’s he’s doing is going to come back and haunt him
@@killer92173 why do you say that?
Her dad was freaking out cuz she was becoming extremely famous and starting to make lots of money...she went and got married without a prenup. Dad just looking out for her cuz she was so young. Chris Perez seems like a loving husband who truly loved her. Such a sad story
Whats a prenup?
@@rachelhernandez4700 A document protects your finances in the event of divorce.
@@SheniceSays214 Ohhh Ill never get a prenup
I think she got married to show her dad that she is not willing to give up on her love for Chris no matter what. If he would have just accepted them, I bet she wouldn't have felt the urgency to do it like that.
Man he was the best father to Selena and her siblings. Just the best father overall. I really like how Robert James Olmos played him in the movie. So captivating.
1:59 what a bittersweet line, you know..considering how things ended.
😢
This part breaks my heart.
After years and years I still love this movie and Selena Quintanilla
hug. taetae damn right
Me too I watched this film last year in my Spanish class in high school
i wish she was still here. the youth of today need more role models like Selena
Same

Rest In Peace Selena Quintanilla Perez. March 31, 1995
Chris Mc Evoy yep, she’s now in a better place
Yolanda killed her 16 days before her birthday
I think Yolanda was jealous of her friend cuz why else would she have killed Selena?
I love this movie so much ! But I still get mad when I see Yolanda !!!
We miss you 😘
I swear Jennifer Lopez did a wonderful job portraying Selena. She's a wonderful actress and singer and beautiful woman.
She did a wonderful job to do this movie.
I think Selena Perez is an angel.
She is an angel
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez
Definitely.
Selena quintanilla was best think is angel ♥️❤♥️❤♥️❤♥️❤
Yeah a lot of people think it’s Selena Quintanilla and that’s what her whole family goes by Abraham Quintanilla Suzette Quintanilla A.B. Quintanilla But it’s actually Selena Perez And Abraham Perez and Suzette Perez and a B Perez Selena’s middle name is Quintanilla
Selena was afraid that her father was gonna go ballistic on her, only to find out that he was worried about her. He admitted that he didn't know how to let her go. He accepted Chris as family.
Until she died
he never truly accepted chris. he literally just sued chris
Yeah so she wouldn't hate him.
Fame or no fame, I think dads are so afraid to let their daughters go because they don't want them to be hurt or heartbroken.
And yet he still treats him like trash to this day.
The way Chris/Jon says “Yes I do” makes me giggle for some reason.
teenie36214 ikr me to
teenie36214 I read this as he said it
And you made me giggle 😄
His accent when he said it is so cute
He said it funny 😄☺
Probably because the way he says it is cute!
So sweet I cried when I saw this because it's beautiful that Abraham and the family welcomed Chris in the family beautiful
They never did in real life such a lie
They welcomed chris. I heard he even lived with them for awhile after selena's death
This is the most beautiful scene in the whole movie!
The guy who played Chris was cute
Rachael Ross The guy is an Italian mobster and a prisoner. He got burned alive in the hole.
Intellectual Solitude Productions Are you serious?
itsjemmabond Yes! Watch Oz. You'll see what I'm talking about
Intellectual Solitude Productions I thought he was just a nice normal guy that got famous off of this movie and that's it
Rachael Chambers his name's Jon Seda. He's a stone cold fox!!! 😍😍😍
she was AMAZING in this .. she gave it her all .. she is so talented such a great actress ..
Say what you want about Jennifer. But this movie, and this scene in particular, breaks all of us. JLo and Edward James Olmos simply DID THAT.
I certainly cry at this scene.
Selena's story had very powerful monents and her story will always be known through her music and this movie. Selena was a real person with real problems. She was just famous and remained humble to the very end. Selena Legacy is forever remembered. Such an Icon and an inspiration.
Chris has stayed close to Selena’s family since the tragedy. Looks like Suzette meant business when she said “You’re stuck with us”
But I’m glad he did, there are no words for their loss.
The family has long cut him off, they never accepted him into the family.
@@DMalltheway Yeah...at the time I wrote this comment, I wasn't aware of the legal battle Chris and Abraham had with each other over Selena's name or something (I don't know the details). Seems all wasn't quite well after all.
@@vinaymulukutla358 It’s been like that for many years and it just seemed like it was all an act just to keep Selena happy, then when she passed he showed his true colors again. The lawsuit was from a few years ago
@@DMalltheway Thanks for clarifying everything man. Appreciate it. This is another tragic aspect of her life in addition to her senseless murder at the hands of Yolanda Saldivar.
@@vinaymulukutla358 Absolutely, Chris released a book and got into way more detail than the movie showed and expressed how much more brutal Abraham really was.
“You’re a good man”
❤️😭
Selena reminds me of a Disney princess 👑
Such a powerful scene. May she Rest In Peace. I wish she was here with us.
Me too, so we can still see her sing.
She was going to be huge.
Once-in-a-generation talent, taken too soon and for absolutely no reason.
IRL Abraham was stark raving mad when Selena and Chris arrived back at home. A huge wrestling match broke out and Selena was Tombstone by Abe; Chris was able to act hurt, and when Abe came over to pin him, he was able to maneuver and DDT Abe. Once down Chris was able to get in the car port and perform the People’s Elbow. Once Chris pinned Abe it was over; and Selena came to and they put Abe in a body bag. Once Abe came around and gather his wits, he gave Chris the belt; and welcomed him to the family.
Legend has it that Chris is still the champ!
No, I'm not crying I swear 😭❤️❤️
I feel sorry for Chris. Not being accepted into a family has to be one of the worst feelings. I’m glad that the marriage worked out.
I wish Abraham wasn't strict with Chris, he should of always respected Chris and Selena.
When he started to cry when he said that he didnt know how to let her go that hit my heart cuz i dont know how to let my daughter go, i dont have a daughter yet but ya know!!
That's how I'll feel but at the same time we know it's what she wants
This scene is beautiful.
RIP Selena. 🙏🙏🙏
this is why J Lo became the star she is because Mija blessed her when she was looking down at that superb acting
that was for you La Reyna!!!!
This movie almost made me cry. Selena was beautiful and talented.
Charmardee Smith this movie did make me cry I was crying all through it lmao
OMG! How could the real Chris and her real father have EVER watched this movie?! This made me so emotional and I cried so hard. Can you imagine the real people they portrayed having to see this?!
The real Abraham probably rolls his eyes to the back of his head while watching this scene. He still hasn’t completely accepted Chris, especially now that Selena is no longer around to defend him.
I can tell by people’s comments here on CZcams that they have hatred toward Abraham and comparing him to Joe Jackson, the father of the Jackson family, who was very strict, demanding and abusive towards his kids. And I understand that people are entitled to their own opinions. But Abraham has said in an interview a few years after Selena’s death that he did regret of getting his kids involved in the music business. Because he knew that there will be serious consequences such as sensationalism and the tabloids (both English and Spanish). But I can tell that Abraham Quintanilla did the best he could to be a great father to his kids and protecting them and being a loving husband to Marcela. He sets a great example of what it takes for a man to be a great father and provide love and guidance to his children. The world needs more people like Abraham
Quintanilla. On the other hand, too many fathers are missing, too many fathers are M.I.A., too many fathers are A.W.O.L.
Frijolero Man79 Joe Jackson beat his kids
At least Selena's father allowed his children to call him Dad
Abraham was in no way perfect and i’m still super annoyed abt how he and the family are currently treating Chris, but he is in no way close to Joe Jackson.
Abraham and Richard (Will Smiths character) are a direct parallel and I’m sure Smith watched Selena and Edward James Olmos performance to show that toughness of take no BS.
Jennifer Lopez was perfect in this movie 😍
Her phenomenal work
darnit.. i always tear up with selena and ab's discussion.. such emotion.. i wont tear up and i do.. haha
They should have included the bit just before this, the part where their wedding announcement is broadcast over the radio and Selena tells Chris to turn the car around, having changed her mind about going home to face her dad-- that was funny!
2:20 We dont need the getaway car lmfao
I.Mendoza Trucking bm
I.Mendoza Trucking on
I think he meant "We don't need to get away anymore"
I love he said getaway car it's more funny
Admit it, you all broke at 1:59😭😭😢
That line was 😭 not only with him having to let her go after her getting married and then when you consider her fate... They ALL had to let her go... Very sad...
i did and always do when i saw the ending and thought of that line it made it much worse
Well she’s gone now which is even more sad
Ross, oh, it is true.
😂😂😂😂 guilty
R.I.P Selena Quintanilla-Pérez (1971 - 1995)! 🥺😢😭
Neat.. 😊 Superbly beautiful, as well as highly bittersweet, too. Plus, I think in this scene, Abraham reminded me of how Ariel’s father King Triton in the 1989 film *The Little Mermaid* must’ve felt when he realized Ariel did love Prince Eric and also noticed how right Sebastian was when he said that “children got to be free to lead their own lives” as well. With that, Abraham and Triton eventually accept their daughter’s significant others: Chris (Selena) and Eric (Ariel).
Basically, Abraham and King Triton had something in common: they had to learn the hard way about letting their daughters go. (Plus, I could see Ariel and Selena singing the following lines from the song “Part of Your World (Reprise)” together:
*“I don’t know when,*
*I don’t know how,*
*but I know something’s starting right now*
*Watch and you’ll see*
*Someday I’ll be*
*Part of your... world...!”*
And that would have been so neat, too.)
Selena was a fan of that movie.
Wow.....Selena came from a really good family, close knit, talented, love and hard work.......It bothers me that it got destroyed for a moment when she was murdered.....but this family still keeps her memory alive......Selena truly left a legacy.......and she is an inspiration.....
The family treats Chris like trash and leaves him out of everything, they never accepted him into the family, all because of greed.
My mom actually bought Chris's book about Selena, bro you can't go one page without him saying how much he loved her, also I noticed that Chris was far to kind to Abraham, on the bus he hardly defended himself even after Abraham called him cancer, when he spoke he spoke calmly and use little words to get the point across.
I never knew how much Selena wanted to get away from her father, in terms of moving, two times in the book Selena came home crying because of him. But she did love them. A lot.
It's a good book I recommend it.
The actor playing the father is great. 💯
His name is Edward James Olmos.
THE FEELS 😍😭
Isabelle Rose i
I haven't seen this movie but will watch in a few days. Looks great, is professionally told, Lopez looks like she's amazing (a rarity, considering her acting isn't usually solid) and of course Olmos is fantastic...very underrated actor. I can tell by this scene alone that he put his heart and soul into this role
This episode made me cry.😥😥🥺
Im just Glad in her short life she got to experience real love.
Gosh I watched this part so many times for 21 years and I'm still crying 🥰🥰🥰R.I.L Selena and I will never loved this movie if anyone act Selena except JLo she did a great job ❤❤🥰🥰
1:59 is going to be me when I put my ps4 away when I get a ps5
Three years after the PS5 launch date, I'm still playing on my PS4 because the PS5 hasn't wowed me yet.
It’s sad that Abraham was only this nice to him when Selena was alive . If only Selena was still here, and saw how he was treated now man .
It’s more that he tolerated Chris while Selena was alive, there was massive resentment under the skin.
This was a touching Beautiful moment ❤ Continue to RIP Selena ❤
I like like Selena dad he was being a typical normal father that's was protecting your little girl or child 😭😀
Omg this is so beautiful
Selena will be remembered
In a way, I feel bad for Selena's sister Suzette. She was always living in the shadow of younger, prettier, sexier, famous little sister. She even got married before her. It was clear from this scene that Selena was the favorite, and while I don't think her parents meant to intentionally make Suzette feel bad, I can't imagine how alone she must have felt.
"You forgot the food" 😂 bruh.
this scene makes me cry every time
SHE IS AN AMAZING LATINO SINGER
I LOVE SELENA QUINTANA 💗💗
I miss Selena when I was a Child I seen her song
😣🥺😭😭💔💔
This scene will always be both sad and funny. I cry every time Abraham hugs Chris.
It was nice for him to accept Chris as his son in law.
Abraham is an excellent Dad, he loved his family, he took his vision of the band, opening the restaurant and helping Selena become a Superstar. This movie just isn’t about a beautiful incredible little girl but also a loving devoted Dad and Mom and siblings who loved her so much and would do anything to share her talents with the world. I adore this movie, Selena and her family. I cry every time I watch this movie.
Just a terrible father in law.
No, he wasn't excellent, he was strict and mean, but at least he accepted Chris.
She did really good
The new podcast about Selena is fantastic!!!
I started tearing up when her dad cried
Chris you got your 🎸💯💯💯😍😍
At least she didnt get a container of sugar thrown at her as soon as as she walked into that room...she was beautiful n talented.❤
Selena and jlo are the only ones in my opinion who make bangs work like they look soooooooooo good in them
Welcome to our family..🥰
❤
He called him son best compliment anyone can get from there father in law
Holy smokes! This scene broke my heart. Selena hurt her dad so deeply, but she didn't mean it. Finding a future with Chis was a normal thing to happen. Too often there is just not enough time.
Selena didnt realise the power she really had. When her dad threatened to disband the group, she could've turned it around and fired him as manager. He knew this.
The first time i saw this movie was in my spanish class. I love the movie but i hated how it ended because she died. R.I.P selena quiantanilla . Selena was a rare talent and was taken way to soon out of anger and jealousy and money yolanda deserves to stay in jail for the rest of her life for what she did no chance of getting out . Someone who does something like that doesnt deserve to be out of prison they need to stay there. Poor selena and her family R.I.P selena you are and were a great singer. Your legacy is always going to be remembered and told through your music and the movie when people see it.
God this hurts and at the same time happy for them ☹️
Jennifer and the cast and crew should've gotten lots of awards for this film!!
This scene softened me up about Abraham.
Abe jr. "you take care of my sister." Chris could not have saved her from the inevedible.
If she had just told her family about meeting Yolanda at the motel 😥........
Or had a cell phone...
A literal and figurative lifeline
This is one of the best and yet jerking scenes in movie history. Anyone who has a daughter and loves her knows how true the words he is telling her are. Very good scene
EJ is such a great actor! We need to show him love while we still have him!
Every Dad is protective with their Daughter . It’s just human nature.
I love Selena
Not gonna cry... Not gonna cry.. gosh darn it.😢😢😢😦😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Everyone in that movie did a terrific job.
This scene makes me miss my dad. ❤😢❤
Awah he will always think of Selena has his little girl. I just love their relationship. Sometimes I wish I was close to my dad. Just love the Selena the movie. ❤❤❤❤
This movie does not prepare you for the amount of tissues you’re gonna need 😭😭😭
THAT'S WHAT I CALL HAPPY BE LOVE AND HARMONY AND POSITIVE BEING CHEERFUL AND JOY, AND PEACEFUL BEING TOGETHER GOT EACH OTHER'S BACKS AND NEVER BE ALONE AND SAVING EACH OTHER'S LIVES, THERE'S ALWAYS BEING POSITIVE WAY.
Besides no such thing as too late or disappointment and failures or negative really not that helping, And never ever be afraid ever no need to be upset or being so negative no anger no regrets getting way too harsh cuz I will be way too far on them.
Im crying 😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭
1:20 we don't need the getaway car
2:22*

Nice video! Keep it up!
Edward James Olmos! So brilliant!

The sad part about not letting her go is in the end he really did have to let her go 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 so heart Breaking 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Orale homes! Carnalito. Love Olmos movies he's a great actor and so is JLO.
At this day, Chris Perez has not moved on. He still loves Selena to this very day.
GREAT FILM STILL IN 2019 !!!
Nailed it.
This scene is so sweet
I love my dad so much I know he wants the best for me and After what happened to me with my ex husband He doesn't really trust anybody He doesn't want me hurt anymore He's just protecting me But he will accept the people I love the most no matter what 💙💯
She was such a good person. :(
He wasn't abusive towards Selena and the rest of the family. And Selena and her siblings wasn't treated the way Michael Jackson and his siblings were.
I think this how ima be with my daughter. I don’t think ima know how to let her go 😞
