The Unsellables - From Season 1 Episode 11 "Michael and Kelly": Kelly and Michael’s home has been on the market for over a month… And while the price is competitive and the market is red-hot, no one is biting. The couple is stumped… But Sofie says the unfinished renovation projects and student-squat master bedroom are real sale killers.
Potential buyers are focusing on the negatives, she says… And cannot see the home’s fantastic kitchen and many heritage features. As Anthony and the team finish odd jobs, refresh the wall colors, and add sophistication throughout, the couple gets a crash course in real estate 101 from Sofie in order to sell their home in time.
The Unsellables - After tracking down the most unsightly and ‘unsellable’ listings on the market, The Unsellables team attempts to transform real estate lemons into lemonade. Can the fearless crew get these desperate homeowners to get smart, let go of the past, and prepare for a sale?

@@umgazel4785 And left the footprint??? One more unfinished thing in the house. Looks like the boyfriend never finished anything, and she was all about the baby. Some people make small mistakes, but if you don't plan on staying in a house, why take out one of the more authentic features because it doesn't work with your tacky furniture? At least restoration companies have lots of fireplace mantels to choose from if someone else comes along with an Arts and Crafts flair.

Our fireplace was taken out before we bought the house, so it wasn't a choice. I wouldn't have taken it out myself but I don't mind that it is not there. We took out a wall and the fireplace would have made the layout awkward.

FIRST thing i'd do is update the FRONT of the house. Paint it a contemporary color such as a gray or soft beige and get rid of that dated dark brown wood color and cheap stick on house numbers. Ugh. Trade thoe for the nice metal numbers. I'd like to see more greenery and warmth inside the house. Other than that, the color choices/furniture arrangement, etc on the inside looks fabulous!!! Great job!

I've watched this series since it aired back in the early 2000's. It never ceases to amaze me how clueless these people are as to why their homes aren't selling. Between the filth (do British people never clean their homes?), unfinished DIY projects, unfinished repairs, questionable paint colors and their hoarding habits-honestly, they often look like a car boot sale threw up in their living rooms, they can't get potential buyers past the entry way. Nobody wants to move into a home with a list of projects to complete, they want move in ready. This is not rocket science.

I can speak for our family only, but having a baby can scramble your brains for a while. My husband and I were in a complete daze! Survival mode and distortion of perspective go hand-in-hand! There's also a lot of learning about how to communicate with your spouse as well. Complacency is sometimes the result, going numb while your partner grows up. I was really selfish and entitled, and my husband was childlike and needy, himself. Throw that all into the mix, and the dust and mediocre state of the house just become background noise, even if you're selling, I bet.
