  • Burke County, Georgia, Sheriff Alfonzo Williams says that based on his experience in law enforcement and what he's seen so far on the videos, the officers involved in the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks acted properly and their actions are "completely justified." Sheriff Williams also said this case was very different than the Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd cases.

The officer kicked Brooks when he was down (or dead?). If you survive a home invasion and grab a gun as the perp is leaving, you'll face charges of your own for shooting the perp in the back. You could be half-dead, but have charges against YOU. Because if the perp left you half-alive, then your "whole" life was not in danger when you shot him and he fell dead in your yard. You would've been shooting out of anger, after the fact. YOU, as a civilian, could claim "this and that" about your trauma experienced and likely get off. Not hurting anyone and no proof that he was actually driving drunk or under the influence( ie there was no driving going on when they arrived, the man was asleep and not moving). They could have been there for him and offered to take him home like I see police in other countries doing, but instead go with the forceful option of arresting a man who was doing nothing to harm anyone. Rayshard took a taser and fired it while trying to get away. Instead of firing his own taser, the officer SWITCHES to his deadly firearm and puts multiple bullets into rashawn's back. It absolutely shows some of the same problems such as officers being too quick to go to force and excessive force at that. This is why we need training in de-escelation and other police reform. From 5:10 - 5:36 of the video, right? Ridiculous. I recently saw the footage. The other cop pulled the tazer out only AFTER Brooks attempted resisting arrest.
Also, Brooks was on probation at the time. He was sentenced to 7 yrs in jail for committing multiple crimes, one which was child abuse. If i recall, he was stated to have been let out due to COVID-19 (if anyone knows the specifics to why that's the case, please let me know. Thanks).
Brooks knew, even in his at-the-time drunk head, that what he had done (drunk driving) would send his ass right back to prison. His resisting arrest and stealing an officers weapon would just have added more fuel to fire (if he had LIVED, he would have likely been punished with a longer sentence).
Well, we know what happened instead, don't we?
Yeah, this news bitch tried to play the race card on the sheriff. Fuck her. I'm certain that if ANYONE, race/ethnicity aside, tried to resist arrest, grabbed an officers weapon and tried to flee with it, AND tried to use it on the officer seconds later... If this police office believes that the execution of Brooks was justified, there is something REALLY WRONG on how the police force is being trained. The standards for hiring and training cops in the United States is abysmal. The vast majority of developed countries require college degrees and a long training of about 2 - 3 years. No other developed nations has any where near the amount of deaths caused by police as the US does. American cops need to be all fired. We need to start again from scratch.

Such an individual will continue to be a threat to the lives of everyone they ever come in contact with. This man, assaulted two cops and used one's weapon against the other, to escape accountability for a crime. It is reasonable to assume, he would've used a gun, if thats what he had in his hand. Its also reasonable that had he escaped with the taser, he would've used that, on anyone, for any reason that suited his whim. For everyone saying 'just a taser', imagine the last thing you or your mom hearing is a pop from that very taser,, before being dragged around the corner/into the bushes/shoved into a vehicle, etc... and whom you would blame for that.

I agree, for the record, the young man should have been tased and or shot. While he was on the ground wrestling with these officerd and grabbing stuff. At THAT point, they were in imminent danger. When he took off running, that is where the trouble comes as people ask the very valid question of whether it was indeed necessary to kill a person running away. At that distance, even the taser he was "shooting" with posed no threat.
The journalist asked if the officers would have used their taser that quickly on a white suspect. The police chief, in the context of his job representing law enforcement, the color of his skin is trumped. He will answer as a law man, not a black man. So those bringing up his race as proof of anything actually prove nothing. Accept that black officers get the same training as white, yellow, and brown officers. That's why he would not commit to the real reason why ALL of those sources of disinformaton lead to a higher use of accessive force against black people versus white (systemic entrenched racism).
The truly sad part of this interview is the journalist trying to get this cheif to straight up interpret the racial intent of THESE officers trying to restain Rayshad. That was disingeniuous. And she showed her hand when she cut him off after he also RIGHTFULLY threw the media in the blame bucket for perpetuating the perceptions of black people as a threat. As a media representative, she didn't want to take some of her own medicine and acknowledge they too have a LARGE role to play in the demonization of and therefore damaging and endangering black people.

That man should not of been shot. There's 2 cops on him. Yes he did overpower both cops and managed to get a taser and begin to run away but the cops should of been smarter. The cops knew before hand that he had a taser NOT A GUN. Therefore since they knew he only had a taser and there's 2 of them, that cop should not of shot him with that gun. Also the cop had cover if he was unsure, he was right next to the red car with cover. The gun should of only been used if the guy happened to pull one the guns off of one of the cops. Then there LIVES ARE IN DANGER along with all the people watching. What happened to cops making smart decisions. I do agree that they were doing there job right up until he thought it was ok to kill him as he tried to flee. It's not like the guy was coming at the cops. erna enolam You notice how they totally skipped over the fact that it shouldn't have got to that point from the start. Police officers are (supposed) to be trained to DE-ESCALATE a situation like this. Brooks was drunk and sleeping but he was NOT violent or combatant when the police officers first encountered him. This Sheriff completely shifted the blame!!

Rayshard Brooks was driving with a suspended driver’s license; and was driving with alcohol in his bloodstream.
I can’t understand why the two policemen couldn’t apprehend him using martial arts pressure points on some part of his anatomy.

I don’t think the video proves that to be the case you can’t see much as the camera gets knocked off when they’re on the ground.

@@richeaton7436 Well, not that they weren't in their rights to arrest him but leniency could have saved all of them.
Rayshard offered to sleep it off in his car, he offered to walk home as well.
And the officers waited 3 min before rendering aid and allegedly tampered with the crime scene.
So idk if I trust them. But I can just imagine if he had just walked home...
