The fact that Dr. Jubbal spends his time assisting us, aspiring doctors, by consistently informing us on how to become better, makes him an amazing mentor. Heâs an awesome leader and I hope he knows that.
P.S. Please make a video regarding Healthcare Administrators. It would really benefit those who are interested :)

i am going to get all a's and possibly b's , but i am mostly striving for a gpa somewhere in between a 3.8 & a 4.0 !! i will also join clubs / do sports for diversity when applying to a college !!
I had a friend study the USMLE a year before. He studied for 3 months, tested himself, and then didnât touch it for 3 months then tested himself again. With 4 months remaining he studied once every week for 3 months. Then really spent his last month studying hardcore. He ended up having top marks in our graduating class overall.
iâm in my senior year of high school. i got pregnant unexpectedly, and now i have a babygirl who just turned 2 months old. iâve always knew i wanted to work in the medical field ever since i was a little girl. sometimes when i have difficult obstacles in my life, i start wondering if becoming a doctor is really worth it. i start thinking ânursing will be easierâ (i wanted to be a nurse at one point), but i knew if i became a nurse i wouldnât be completely happy. i want to build a relationship through my patients, and be their long-term care provider. i love helping people, and iâm very intrigued by obstetrics and gynecology. these videos always pick me back up when i start to think negatively about my future career. iâm starting my biology courses this fall, and i cannot be more excited!
I respect you you ain't give up drop out and quit school you kept going pushing yourself. And you gone look back one day and even though it's hard now, it's gone be worth it in the end. We got this please just don't give up. :)

Hi Madison, reading your story shows how strong you are! I am a first generation about to be pre student . I have fears in many ways. There are times I think I better become a nurse since I won a full ride scholarship to the university of Missouri St. Louis . But I know I wonât be as happy being a nurse as much as I would be as a doctor. I pray all the time taht my path becomes a path of ease and inspiration to others. Donât give up !!! Remember you can do this !
You will succeed, you can do it! Becoming a doctor comes with many trials and I have faith in you achieving, you never gave up on your education, Iâm sure any patient would be lucky to have a doctor who does not give up. Good luck đ
Go chased that dream!! Your bby girl will be proud of you for doing what you love someday!!!
I'm coming to the end of my first year in med school. Hearing you say "you'll remember the middle and end of your first year as some of the best times at medical school... the stress is comparatively low... you'll have free time" has literally ruined my day.
It's so much easier here in Europe where you go straight from high school to med school
WAIT WHATTTT??!!!
Aimee Tambwe yeah itâs true but damn itâs difficult.
Tina S how difficult is it
Tina S can u tell more about i am also in europe but i have no idea how things work here
Ikky 0090 I canât specifically say one place because each country in Europe have its own requirements and exams. If youâre curious about it just look up the name of the country and write âundergraduate medicineâ beside it.
This is the earliest Iâve ever been! You should make a video about PA school vs Med school for those stuck between the two!
đŻ
The channel is called med school insiders
I work as a pre-health mentor and because I spend time in the office. I heard the advisor say that your GPA matters more as a pre-PA than a pre-med because thereâs no MCAT or extra-circulars to evaluate you on. So I know I heard her tell a student if youâre getting close to a B+, try your best to turn it into an A. Also upon further googling the competition is greater. Thereâs a 31% acceptance rate whereas with MD programs itâs 40% or maybe higher because some do end up choosing the DO route because of their own choice not as a back up. Also, a pre-PA friend told me they need more clinical hours and scribing may not count. It could very specific about needing that patient contact. Just keep in touch with the PA school you would like to attend to know them well. So essentially, itâs a little more competitive but there are perks such as flexibility with many specialties.
MEEE TOOOO
PA ALL THE WAY OVER MED SCHOOL

Great idea!!
I really like that.
I need it
Just email everyone (especially science professor youâve taken courses with) and introduce yourself!
Dude definitely has a 150 plus IQ
I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with my Biology major. When I started I swear they were so many people that we look like the entire university was made of biology people. But finishing this semester more than half of my classmates were gone and others didn't pass the classes. I dont know how common this is, but in my university it is said that this is the standar. I feel like Im in crazy town right now. I never expected such competitiveness in my first semester.
Xavier Altori tell me about it I had this orientation class that just consisted of pre-med biology students and by the end of the semester 3/4âs of the class had changed their majors and were not pursuing a career in medicine anymore.
Its like that everywhere. Half the students drop off after the first year from scientific fields.

Are you currently in bio undergrad now?

In Europe, you can apply to medical school right after high-school. It's basically treated as a 6 year, BA plus MA programe, although that varies from country to country. Its 6 years long, where 3 are preclinical, and 3 clinical. After that you're a doctor of primary care, in most countries you're required to do a year of internship. After that you can apply for a specialisation, or residency.
They're not as organised as in the US, at least here where I study. The local government basically dictates how many there will be.
You can become a doctor at 24 years old here, tho that's rare since most people repeat a year or two.
In Nigeria also
@@akintolamichael2807 Yeah, I'm guessing most countries have some variation on that system. Not many have the undergrad MS system
In the US they try to make the process hell so that you go 300-400k in debt before you make a dime. The average student spends 35k alone on just the Bachelors degree. Itâs all about bleeding money out of the system here.
@@ChristianSedaPlays Well said.
Same as in Indonesiađ. Anyway, good luck for all med studentsđ

iâm a sophomore in high school and iâm super passionate about medicine. i wanted to go into ob/gyn for a while, but as of right now, iâm really fascinated by neonatal surgery. iâm honestly just ready to get done with high school so i can start what is going to be an extremely long journey. this video helps to outline the individual steps of the journey, so thank you!
Respect to people who make it through this gauntlet. I settled along the way because I didnât enjoy the school grind and didnât want to waste my youth and go heavy in debt. It takes a very specific type of person to actually enjoy this process.
Thank you so much! I'm an aspiring doctor in my first year of college. I'm thinking of gunning for a bachelor's in nursing as my premed and I hope all will go well.
Very informative!! Thanks, Doc. đ
So I'm not watching this because I desire a career in medicine. I'm watching this because I'm writing a story in which one of the characters is going through medical school and later on become a doctor, so I needed to know what the process was and how to weave it into the plot. And holy shit, there's a LOT I need to keep track of. I'm so glad I did, because if this story ever becomes publicly viewed and the character goes from her last year of med school one year to being a full on doctor the next, I would get REEMED for inaccuracies.
So informational. I can not wait to become a medical doctor. Life long dream.
Thank you sooo much! You always explain things so clearly and with the best tips. You're helping so many people like me actually pursue our passion.
Thanks for watching!
I love the fact that you mentioned passion for medicine, because so many people aren't happy as doctors and won't be good ones because they go into the career wanting money, and not understanding how you should love anatomy and helping/interacting with people on a daily basis to be a physician!
I don't have any passion for medicine or whatsoever however my dad insisted me to become a doctor so i gotta learn to love it, don't discourage anyone to become a doctor just because they don't have a passion for medicine.
@@specialforce1090 I'm sorry to say it, but I think if that isn't your passion, you will have a hard time "learning to love it"

My biggest dream is to become an air med to pay for med school, so that eventually i could become a pediatrician. My friends think i'm weird, because here i am (a 6th grader) already having a plan for my future jobs, and such. Hello, Dr Jabbal, I have been watching your videos regarding medical school and medicine since senior year of my high school. I am a first generation about to be pre- med student this fall 2020. I am nervous since I am the first female to go to college. I have fears I may not succeed. As none in my household has been to college. I look around for someone to tell me that yes ! In the UK we go straight from high school (end of A-levels) to medical school and the course is around 5-6 years, and then we spend 2 years in foundation training before selecting a specialist (residency) programme to become a consultant which takes 3-8 years depending on the speciality. The american system seems so long and expensive considering you guys have to pay a lot more in tuition fees...good luck
Wow. I've seen a lot of comments like this and it makes me wanna study abroad. Idk why they make it longer and a bit harder.
Can you please do a video talking more about those BS/MD programs. pleaseee
Coming from a family of doctors and physicians, I feel like I would have a significant advantage to obtaining clinical experience and expert advice on med school đ€
one day i will become a doctor
Im here because of the fact I raised my parent's standards, by being a gifted child and telling them I wanted to be a surgeon since I was 7 ahaha. Im still more than excited to get into the Medical Field but I sometimes get scared and think I won't make it... but I'm only 15 and a sophomore so I have time, about a year to get everything right! I signed for PLTW Biomed and got accepted!! Im taking Bio and Chem and I took Algebra-Based Physics my Freshman year and hopefully I'll take AP bio and AP chem my junior year and continue and branch into an internship there or at a cancer center. I've also dissected brains and removed a tumor from a sheep's brain in 8th grade but the sheep was dead so I don't think its quite the same because there was 0 risk of hurting the patient so im debating on whether I want to be a brain surgeon or a general surgeon. Physics is important but Im not too good at it and I don't want to get a B or C and not have that solid grade. In the math department im kinda slacking because I took a year-long Alg 1 class last year which was a big mistake but if I double up the junior year and take pre-calc and trig I should be able to take Calc my senior year and be prepared for Med School. Im taking AP Gov to branch into sociology or maybe European History. And Im taking Orchestra as my art class, and I play field hockey, run track in summer and winter so sports year-round. I've completed the required community service hours im at 70 but of course, I need more which will be a little harder because of the national pandemic right now. I think Im on a decent path right now but I don't know. I have so many classes I want and need to take but Im limited to only 8 haha!
Omg we are deadass the same. I also raised my parents expectations on me about being a surgeon and I am scared to fail at it. I am also 15, so I have a long way to go. I am in a medical program this year where we will be learn about anatomy and doing hands on experience in hospitals. I am currently taking Chem and thatâs literally the only science class expect for APES but ya. I hope we both do good and get the path we want! good luck đ

Our 4th yr w did GI Neuro Cards...all others were sub I's.. this is the Harvard Curricula unless ur 5th pathway
Thatâs interesting so are you a doctor now what did you choose
Emergency medicine please? I wanna know about it more, I wanted to be a surgeon but i just dont know are they the same or not, probably not but I would really like to know
I shadowed in the ER and all I can say is that they handle a lot of medical cases for most of their shifts(diabetes, drunk people, cardiac issues, cardiac arrests and events) and when a trauma comes in(stab wounds, fractures, etc.) the surgeons are the ones that come to assess and stabilize while the ER physicians handle the medical management of them (blood, intubations, ordering solutions and medications to be given) putting in lines, etc.) there was one time where a person came in with esophageal varices and was bleeding, the GI doc came in to cauterize the bleed but the patient was to unstable to move into the OR so they had to put in a blakemore tube. basically this was the doc trying to stuff a catheter in the patients mouth and down the esophagus to block the bleed. the ER physicians told me this was about as procedurally heavy as it gets for them, medically this was a very complex case to manage and there were a lot of things to take into consideration but procedurally, what i saw was objectively very simple and i found myself spacing out.
But when i saw an orthopedic surgeon drill into someones leg and provide traction for a gunshot victim, that was far more interesting to me but medically the only thing done was he was given pain meds. maybe an ER physician could be trained in doing a procedure like that but they wouldn't do it in practice because orthopedics would be there to do it.
I believe this is what its like as for the differences between the 2 in the emergency setting.
shiva swami Thaankks!!! That was really helpful + i found now being a surgeon is way more interesting beside its hard and exhausting but way more interesting, Iâm Thankful đđ
I used to be so confused how the american system works I mean in Europe you can go directly into medical school after high school for 6 years and follow in residency if you want to
Summer before sophomore year seems really early to me! Do you think the fact that other students might not have done as well at that time (since they likely didnât have all the MCAT courses either) helped your percentile, or do you think that was negligible?
Summer after sophomore year
I just wanted to confirm something. For the MCAT if we wanted to take a gap year, wouldnât we take it during April or June senior year? Since it takes about a year for the whole process. But if we take it spring of junior year, and apply for med school summer between Junior year and senior, we would go fall of next year
