You’re probably correct in saying that her value system is much different than mine and I respect that. In my opinion, dating should lead to marriage, so if you still are finding yourself going from person to person not able to settle down with any of them at 34 years old, I believe it does say something about you and your character. However, I can also acknowledge that Taylor may not want to get married and have kids yet, and that’s her prerogative, but I do believe that she’s not setting a good example for her younger listeners by being so promiscuous in her dating life. Ask yourself, what is the point of dating if it doesn’t lead to marriage? Why be in a relationship with someone for 6 years if you don’t plan on committing to them long-term?

Nothing against Ben... but lets take a look in the mirror here... the irony and lack of self-reflection for the guy who makes a living whining on the internet to whine "Why are you so whiny?" about a girl who is writing self-reflective songs about her life... without even listening to it. His take is pretty ridiculous because he doesn't even understand it. I can actually critique it because because I listened to it and I get it. There are things I would change, lyrics I would change (mostly swears and religious terms) but it's valid music about her life.
There is a lot of brutal honesty in this album. Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me? is about how the industry turned her life into a freakshow. Or Clara Bow about how being famous costs so much but means so little. Or how in "So Long London" she laments the loss of her youth after wasting six years with a guy who wouldn't marry her. Or How Did It End about every9ne always gossiping about her heartbreak (even though this is her own fault for writing about it). In The Albatross she talks about being a danger to know. In The Prophecy she talks about her life as sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy and laments that she doesn't want money, just someone who wants her company. Several times she confesses to sounding like a petulant teenager or an infant crying. She's very aware that she's The Taylor Swift, and also aware that she's not always happy and she has problems.
People can dislike her music and her personal life, but stop pretending a rich person can't be sad or in pain and that she who dwells in the center of Hollywood's toxic industry and broken culture, and who has the eyes of millions on her every move, can not deal with anxiety and betrayal and a sense of lonliness. She still always thanks fans with gratitude for their support... but yes, a lot of her songs are about how her reputation is bigger than she knows how to handle at times and how people want to use her or are scared to get close to her, etc. And she's aware that she chose this.
Cut her a little slack. This album could have been way worse... because she honestly does have some songs that give me the ick (like You Need To Calm Down, Bejeweled, Me!, and The Man).
She also uses a lot of literary devices, colorful storytelling, and references her own catalog as well as making parallels and references to a lot of literature in her works from Shakespeare to Hawthorne to Wordsworth to Fitzgerald to Bronte and J M. Barrie, and probably more... so I think her writing is actually a lot better than people give her credit for.
I think this comment needs to be shouted from every comment section of videos hating her.

Well said! I definitely agree that just because she isn’t starving in a third world country doesn’t mean she doesn’t struggle. I can’t imagine how hard it is to be under so much scrutiny and be watched everywhere you go, and in such a toxic industry as you mentioned. And she really is a great writer, this album showcases it well. I totally understand people not liking her or her music but at least LISTEN TO IT before you say it’s garbage 😭

I'm definitely not a Swifty, but no one has any idea what someone else has gone through in their life. She may have been through traumas we know nothing about. I've been going through severe toxic trauma for 16 years and my dr is just now finally prescribing trauma counseling. Sometimes everyone is so busy with their own stuff that others slip through the cracks and get overlooked.

Pressuring women that aren’t ready or don’t want to be moms into becoming mothers is what is wrong in our society. Not everyone is fulfilled or fit for motherhood. The most damaged people in our society are those that did not have good parents. I’ve met so many female inmates (I work there) that keep having kids because since they were little kids, they were told motherhood would make their life have meaning and fulfillment. These women keep having babies that they don’t take care of because they believe the lies they were told, and are selfish! These children grow up broken.
If he had actually listened to the album, he would know that the title "The Tortured Poets Department" is complete satire. She's literally making fun of someone who does extremely unnecessary things to appear tortured and poetic. Bro thought he ate 💀
