Haha I have to say this camp was one of the harder ones to take them along. They haven't asked me to take them back to the snow for camping yet

That was great mate. I really enjoy your storytelling. Good effort for your first snow camp. It's tough enough doing solo, so I have no idea how you do it with 2 kids haha.
Cheers scotty. Yeah it can be hard and at times i become the stereotypical grumpy dad grumbling bout the kids 😆 but seeing them learning so much from the natural world makes it all worth it. That and I always have a little time to myself at night round the fire with a hearty stout.

Thank you, I really appreciated this video, I want to be a better dad and do exactly this stuff. I'm glad you have the courage to do this activity.
Mate that sounds fantastic! Nothing better then getting the little kids out camping. Though I'd recommend starting off somewhere else besides snow haha. I bet you have so many great areas over in Cali .. The natural scenery over in the U.S looks amazing.

An awesome video to watch; good on you for giving this a go. I've lived on the coast most of my life and this year was to be my first snow camp, but it didn't eventuate. I expect mine would have gone very similar to yours (freezing cold and no sleep). Thanks for sharing this!
Cheers for watching Jamie. Snow camping really is a whole nother ball game. But once you just get out there and do it you feel confident to give it another try. Next snow season I hope to actually do some back country stuff.

Well done, Luke. I did something similar with my two boys in Kosciuszko and had a similar experience. You did an awesome job, mate. My only advice when it comes to winter camping and kids is not making do with non-winter temp rated worn clothes or sleep systems. Their experience will be shaped by their lack of confort, and they won't have the amazing experience you had hoped they would. Good thermals, and layering, is essential, as is keeping them (and you) dry. Glad you intend to head back. Hopefully we'll get another good snow year. Good on ya, Luke 👍

All good advice and I will be certainly following that for this years winter. Good winter gear is not cheap, and we did this one on a bit of a budget, but I'll slowly be accumulating some 'snow gear' and not just 'winter gear' for more snow camping.
I stumbled across your Chanel and I’m pleased I did. Really enjoying your videos. You don’t need a lot of $ to have a good experience, end of the day it’s about getting out there. From watching this i want to take my kids snow camping now 🙂

I will say when it comes to snow camping that it does pay to have a good sleeping bag and insulated mat 😂

They remind me of my kids who are also mixed heritage; their mum is from Mozambique 🇲🇿, I’m from the UK 🇬🇧.
The first time their mum saw snow, she ran outside excited and she tried to catch the snowflakes on her tongue 👅! That was back in the winter of 2000.
The trouble is that it rarely ever snows here now, unless you get to about 3,000 feet (914 metres.) and there aren’t many places like that here, unless you’re in Scotland.
Hey, I noticed their mum wasn’t there. Was it too cold for her? 😂😂😂
I hope that the kids weren’t put off by the cold and go back to the high country in this coming winter. They’ll get used to it eventually.
Finally, teach. Your kids some history. Show them the RUFWC Final from 2003 … let them know how Johnny Wilkinson hit that winning drop goal in injury time … 😂😂😂

My wife is from Uganda, but you couldn't pay her 1 million dollars to go camping in the snow hahaha she hates the winters here and prefers the summer

@@TheDadventures Congrats on the new addition! I think the youngest age one of my kids went camping was 1 and a half years but that was far too late in life so 4 months sounds perfect 😆

It’s enough of a chore for us to take our children to the snow for a couple of hours, you must have the patience of a saint to take them camping in the snow😂

Awesome job! Hat off to you for getting your young ones out there with you. Even taking my seven year old camping in the rooftop tent on a good day seems to add an unexpected level of anxiety, so two in the snow is a mammoth effort. Memorable trip for the three of you!

Honestly at this point my goal is to just try and reach over the 1 thousand subscriber mark before I try anything like that. I'm very much a small channel and growth on youtube is very difficult so I feel I need to gain a bit of a following before I start doing things like that!
