    One thing is I ALWAYS cut my Brussel sprouts in half, even the small ones. They may end up a bit crispier than the others, but I’m wanting to avoid the insides steaming themselves. Steamed whole Brussel sprouts is typically the flavor people hate and simply cutting them in half and roasting / air frying makes them one of the best veggies

    being able to reheat pizza in a air fryer is a game changer, some of my favorites are melt sandwiches, potatoes for breakfast. i wish i had an air fryer in highschool being able to come home and make some pizza rolls or chicken nuggets after school wouldve been so nice

    • @AmerZAC
      @AmerZAC Před rokem +3

      My flat came with an air fryer. I had no idea what to use it for, so I mostly just ignored it. My flatmate always reheats his pizza in the oven, and it works well enough (though he overcooks it IMO), but it takes *a lot* of time. So one weekend, hungry, hungover, and with only half a pizza to my name until my paycheck arrived on Monday, I tried the air fryer.
      Imagine my surprise when the 2 slices of pizza I put in came out *perfectly done* after, like, 3 minutes. I even added some extra cheese on top (because there is no such thing as "enough cheese"), and it melted *perfectly*. Took little to no time, no preheating, NOTHING. Put in, set the timer to 3, take out, eat amazing pizza.
      I fell in love instantly.

  • @ph11p3540
    @ph11p3540 Před rokem +703

    For best results with any air fryer you should always preheat it. The other important thing is to never spray cold oil into a hot air fryer. The cold oil tends to weld itself into the no stick surface. To avoid enameling oil onto your no stick surface spray the oil onto your food instead just before you toss it into the hot basket. enameled oil makes your air fryer smoke and more likely to burn or leave an unwanted taste on your food. Air fryers work best when surfaces are immaculately clean and preheated.

      great idea, I was thinking of a way to pull it out in once piece with those super high side walls. There has to be a way to pull the tray out, but parchment sounds easy. I was given a fryer - large one. Besides the obvious frozen foods ( French fries, fish, egg rolls ) I use mine primarily for chicken ( breast, legs, thighs - wings are ok, I'm in Buff so I'm fussy ).) and I've done whole small chickens and Cornish hens. Also Hot dogs --- we have a skin on restaurant brand here and they come out perfect. I avoid beef and pork -- do not do sausage as to having to much grease. Oh and fresh whole potatoes, jalapenos and onions come out great. Toss a whole onion in and spray lil oil, salt n pepper and cook away - the onion when done just slides out of the skin.
      Cozens - solid parchment rounds - fryer basket - perforated parchment round - stainless cooling rack the raises the item either 1/4 or 1/2 inch extra ( great for meats - fish, rolls ).
      I do cook chicken slow - 50 to 70 % heat for 30 min then I flip and repeat, if it requires a crisper finish do max heat for couple min.
      Thx sorry just hungry and fantasizing as I type.

I will use the Emmeril machine sometimes to keep her happy. But I later saw your videos and you simplified it! I bought the Cosori. And with your videos you took the mystic out of it. I saw some techniques for making egg toast and do a simple version with a piece of bread + a mayo wall around the outside, put dots of sriracha on top, then crack and egg in the middle + salt & pepper. Pressing an indent in the bread with a spoon first helps to keep the yolk in the middle. 375ish (never buy one with a dial...) for 9 minutes. An instant pot with air fryer attachment is even better, but you'd better have a place to put that really hot fryer lid you have to do something with to remove the food once it's cooked. You can cook just about anything in an instant pot and the smallest, 3 quart size makes enough for 4 people and uses very little energy at all. Once it comes up to pressure, is uses no more electricity at all. I have a Kill-a-Watt and measure all my appliances to see which ones are watt hogs. You can even use the smallest instant pot in an RV with solar panels if you have a large enough solar/battery system.

    Everything I've cooked in this unit has come out great czcams.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB ! Everything tastes so good. Some of the recipes I've changed a little to improve the taste. For instance, for french fries which call for no oil, I spray them with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. They come out great! It makes the best toast I have ever eaten. The recipe I use calls for lightly buttering both sides of the bread. It calls for cooking at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on one side and then 2 minutes on the other side. This time has a lot to do with the kind of bread you are using...so keep an eye on it. Also, the fans in this Ninja are a lot stronger than other air fryers. So lay a metal spoon or something on the bread to keep it from flying around. It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!

      I recently got one as well, after resisting getting "another appliance" for years. If you get a dry result, it means the time & temperature were not ideal for that product and the amount of it. Similar to sous vide, it's all about playing with the parameters until you find the sweet spot. Note it down and now you basically can't miss. The only other parameter is the thickness of the product, which you can control by cutting, pounding, or otherwise preparing prior.

      Don’t worry. This is the first lesson Everyone must learn when cooking with an Air Fryer. I have an Philips XXL and it’s great, but like every cooking device You have to observe the 3 T’s of cooking, Temp, Thickness, and Time. I believe that putting the product on BLAST with 360-400F is ridiculous since the oil and the moisture in the Product has to become liquid in order to have a crunch and cook. I personally preheat and cook at 165/330-180/360 range. I usually start with 10-14 wings and give both sides a light coating of oil. Because of the low but efficient temp the fats come out of the wings and mixes with the olive oil causing them to get darker and crispier. I have a special procedure in that I mix 1 bowl with just salt and pepper, use a strainer and a bowl filled with cold water that the strainer fits in and I dip the wings in this cold water submerging them until the flour is wet. Then slowly lift them out and put them in the other bowl with the seasoning ingredients of, Corn starch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion power, brown sugar, either Italian salat spices or just rosemary. Coat the pieces spray a little olive oil and set the temp at 165C/329F for 15 minutes. Shake the basket and if flour is still visible spray a little oil. I seldom turn them over. After another 15mins or sooner I check to see that they’re golden brown. The key is the right temp. Everyone seems to think that cooking faster is better so they buy one, but I bought mine because it’s faster than the oven, less to clean up, and I can make a portion big enough to feed My family in a relatively short time. Experiment a bit to find what works better for You. I have found that NOT all meats and things taste better in it too. Hamburgers, wings, ribs, and a small cake are fantastic. But fish or chops taste better from the skillet. Good luck and don’t give up.

    I LOVE french fries but I have grown to really hate deep fried stuff, and air-fryer fries are honestly one of my top 5 favorite foods! I have a fry cutter now so putting together a hot plate of fries happens in 15 minutes, it's amazing. You can't get in your car and go through a fast food window faster than that! Every now and then I'll also make a quick cheese sauce while they cook and man, oh, man, it's heaven. My taste buds, stomach and waistline thank me for it!
    Also, I almost exclusively buy bacon ends-and-pieces now, one because it's sometimes half the price of strips and every bit as good, and two, it's almost a joke how easy it is to make in the air fryer. Just break up the pieces, throw a handful into the basket, and in 5-8 minutes you have perfect bacon pieces and the clean up is a cinch. I love oven baked bacon, too, but for the price in this economy, the ends-and-pieces are the way to go. For sure, you won't catch me frying bacon in a pan on the stovetop ever again!

    I often buy frozen hamburger patties for convenience. I always used my sandwich press to cook them, because you can cook them relatively quickly because you're cooking both sides at the same time. HOWEVER, there is a bit of mess because you're still getting a mist of grease splattering out of all four sides and onto the counter top. So, a few months ago I decided to toss a couple of frozen burger patties in the air dryer and see how that works out, and I can honestly say I'll never pan fry another burger again. The air fryer is absolutely the way to go. Talk about fast cooking, and totally set it and forget it. Frozen patty, a bit of salt, 400 degrees for 7 minutes, and you're good to go. Of course I still butter and toast the buns, so I haven't quite gotten that part worked out as a set it and forget it sort of thing, but yeah, definitely burgers in the air fryer.

Literally it is edible and safe to eat so if someone eats a whole apple label and all they wont even notice it. so if you shredded it into the food processor you are totally safe. even the adhesive on the label is food safe and I am pretty sure is just a pectin based adhesive.

I did, and adding a tablespoon of hot honey, give or take (depending on how much other stuff you're using) is a game changer. It causes the sauce to be stickier, so when you just toss them in the sauce pan you get the perfect amount of sauce on the wing and excess sort of piling on.

    I agree with everything you said in this video. These are all the same things I do in my air fryer. I find I like my fries cut a bit smaller than yours they cook faster and when topped remind me of poutine I had as a kid. An alternative for the wings is to just put Kosher salt and squeeze fresh lemon over them a few times while they cook. It gives them a crispy shiny coating and tastes amazing. My favorite new air fryer discovery is egg rolls using the wraps in the produce section of the grocery store. Fill them with your favorites and rub on a bit of veg oil and you won't be able to tell them from deep fried.

    I found this wonderful stuff at Costco that is the seasoning mix for brussels sprouts. And it has the balsamic in it and the garlic and the whole thing. And it is a shake and cook thing on your brussels sprouts in the air fryer and it is fantastic. So I just I'd let you know.

  • @judysbakeryandtestkitchen1654

    Great video. One tip I got is that if you want something crispy spray it with oil before and during the cooking. We have frozen, french fries, and a vegetarian so I think what I’ll do is I’ll spray it that way.

      TIP: almost forgot --- i got the round kind, bought the wire racks ( plus all the other crap ) - they elevate the food a bit more. my larger one flips over to adjust height from 1/4 to 1/2 inch so I can adjust.
      Seriously use parchment rounds --- to suck up some grease, make clean up easier and protect the surface from scratches.

    • @CaptainAlbatross
      @CaptainAlbatross Před rokem +1

      @@WNYXeb777 Using parchment rounds prevents the hot air from reaching the bottom of the food and flowing through the basket, which is the basic principle of the air fryer. Just take the basket out after using, let it cool for a bit, give it a good rinse, dry and you're good to go. Takes a minute.

      @@CaptainAlbatross Misunderstand - I have a large n small fryer. The large has a basket/handle that inserts into the "bottom bucket" piece - the small had some other round disk like piece that laid on the bottom of the "fryer" but a "leg" on it semi broke ---- so I got the various do-dad sets of gizmos. I use a solid piece of paper on bottom of both - ( my large one originally started getting ruined the way the ol George Forman grills did ( coating peeled ) - then in the small I have the equivalent of a cooling rack, In the large basket/insert I use a piece that is perforated/holes cut to size and put a " reversible" rack on that,
      The air flow is not hindered, the paper soaks a lot of the grease ( I cook a lot of fresh chicken ) and helps the non-stick crap from scratching/peeling.
      Plus it's kinda cheap. Toss the paper - use paper towels to mop up excess grease and then I wash.
      Hope it helps --- I realize a lot of people don't bother - a lot of people pour grease down the sink/dishwasher too.
      Plus I hate ruining nonstick finishes - had bone/metal/racks/cleaning all the mentioned peel the coating.
      What I miss are all my parents toys made out of stainless steel. 1950/1960 versions of George Foreman's/ waffle makers, Rotisseries, and all that stuff that was made to disassemble and clean. Engineered much better then. And it wasn't made to be disposable.

    For me, the number one choice is steak and potato wedges!
    Cooking at 450 makes the steak very similar to a grilled steak and by putting the wedges on their backs you don't need to "shake" or move them around, serve them with Ranch dressing.
    Super simple and delicious!

    I’m a disabled senior. Hard to stand for long periods. I love mini meat loaf with potatoes, cooked all at once. Or filet with potato slices. Or fries. Grilled sandwiches. Hamburger. Pierogies. I set them up then sit until shake time. I have the very first one made. I just ordered the dual blaze Cosori to upgrade. Can hardly wait.
