    Owl really was clueless wasn’t he? From the day he found Wolf on that battlefield, he never saw the Shura in him and yet it was there: Notice how Wolf never flinches by the blood drawn from Owl’s blade. Also, remember the years he spent training this boy…
    Isshin has a couple of drinks with him and sees it immediately.

      My headcanon is that Shura to most people is a mythical figure, and thus not really something to be genuinely concerned about. Isshin, on the other hand, had looked a Shura in the eyes before and knew the flames of hatred behind the gaze.

      Sekiro has no shura in him when Owl first rescues him. Tis because the path of shura is completely player-chosen, and Sekiro can choose a path that isnt Shura. meaning that in this ending he transforms into shura from not being a shura

      @@dante2057 It is not influenced by your actions in game, but by the decisions you make in certain sequences. When the Owl comes to the top of Ashina castle in search of the power of the Divine Child and the Dragon's heritage he asks you to "Obey the Iron code" 1. The father's rule is absolute. 2. The master's is a close 2nd. He asks you to forsake Kuro, if you do this you will get this ending, which many have labeled, "The Bad Ending" you'll have to defeat Lady Emma, and Isshin Ashina. For the other endings you choose to stay loyal to Kuro and break the Iron Code. You'll defeat the Owl on all the other 3 endings, and then I'd reccomend watching a video on how to do the other 3 cause some are quite conveluted. There is one where you die, one where Kuro dies, and the true ending where Kuro's life essence gets taken in by the child of the rejuvenating waters and Kuro doesn't technically die in a way, then you'll go on a journey across Japan with the child of the rejuvenating waters.

    Aren't some of you asking themselves on how Owl obtained the Black Mortal Blade? He's not carrying it when he asks you to betray Kuro.
    Just take a closer look at Owl's left hand in the cutscene.
    Owl arrives with the Black Mortal Blade and places a head that has just "long dark hair" next to the corpse of Isshin...
    He actually went finding the blade and killing Genichiro, while we were busy with Emma and Isshin.

    I might be reading into this too much, but I like the thought behind this and hope it was intentional. The first time Sekiro comes to the top of Ashina Castle, he tells Kuro before he fights Genichiro "This will only take a moment." He's fighting for his master's sake and doesn't want the fight to take longer than it has to. But here, Sekiro speaks to nobody, and the first thing Owl says when he returns is "That took a while..." This implies to me that Sekiro, at that point, stopped fighting for a noble goal, and instead had drawn out his battle with Emma and Isshin, savoring their deaths rather than finishing them quickly for the sake of duty. After that fight, he no longer answers to anyone and becomes a truly different person.

    • @pstraub404
      @pstraub404 Před 5 lety +5

      @LeadFaun I doubt that it is because of him losing his arm. In this "Shura" ending, when Kuro exclaims "You can't be Shura", I don't think he means that Wolf literally cannot be; I think he is pleading with Wolf not to become Shura. And, of course, Wolf also has a lost arm.
      I think the ending implies that Wolf is able to become Shura unlike the Sculptor, because while the Sculptor was dismayed and revolted by his buried hatred, this ending has Wolf fully accepting hatred and violence. I also think the dual-wielding of swords isn't the main point. Rather, the significant point is that he has just taken the sword of a man who was stating the grandness of his ambition. To take his sword is to symbolically inherit his ambition of conquest, while he also holds the sword that killed his father in cold blood, as an example of his total ruthlessness.

  • @theknightikins9397

    Sekiro really has some incredible themes and storytelling. It basically all boils down to the corruption of man by power. Everyone we meet, genichiro, owl, lady butterfly, all noble people with good intentions lost their way to search for immortality. Something that is shown time and time again to be a curse (dragon rot, the centipede infestation, etc.) is still so tempting that even the most noble of intentions are tarnished by it. When you get that choice with owl, you are deciding to hold yourself above the rest or to fall to the corruption just like the rest. The only difference between you and them, is that you are already immortal. While someone like owl would transform into some horrific abomination like the immortal monks or the headless apes, you are so far past that you survive the process and take the next step. The path of true corruption, Shura.

    • @qgvinh8614
      @qgvinh8614 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Incredible themes, yes, story telling, that, I can only half agree, yes, every other characters has some form of expression and dialogues that clearly shows their own motives and intentions, but that was not enough, and the most important figure, Sekiro, or Wolf, barely has one.
      This marks the first time Fromsoft was trying to tell a straight forward story, but they proves that they have very little experience in that throughout the years of making souls game, cause Sekiro has the same symptoms of a silent soul protag, but he should not, we clearly know Sekiro is his own character, not just a vessel for our choices, yet his dialogues, very rudimentary, his emotions, very little, his motivation, his motives, we barely see, both the true end and the Shura end failed to show why Sekiro did what he do, why he suddenly ignore the Shinobi code to disobey his father, with just so little to gasp on clearly, his faint sadness while finishing Lady Butterfly, his slow drop on Emma, all very little in contributing to his character, you might say that we need to come up with our own speculation on why he does it, but we should not, this kind of cutscene heavy story telling should be clear, should be straightforward, not like the souls games, and that, they have failed miserably, Sekiro is as empty as a protagonist as William from Nioh, I can even argue William has better characterization than Sekiro, and that is bad, cause William is bland.
      In the end, what we have right here, is such a in between results of the subtly in souls storytelling, and the straightforward traditional way of storytelling, and yes, I have watched extensively on Sekiro lore videos, and spent years thinking about Sekiro, and Sekiro, falls very short on storytelling, it's always about the corruption of immortality in all of souls games, but it is the shallowest in Sekiro, and I am ultimately, disapointment on how they decided to make the story. Sekiro, is one of those games, that desperately needed a sequel, to build on themes before it, to learn on the previous shortcomings of it, and make a fully realized version of the game.
      Thank you for reading all this, this is in the end, my subjective opinion, and you don't have to agree with me, but I hope you understand where I have been coming from, I love Sekiro, and nothing in the world would change that, but I can still see its shortcomings, and I hope many others, can see it too.

      @@qgvinh8614I think shinobies are meant to be silent. Samurais are loud, but sekiro is a ninja afterall. They wanted to attract souls fans basically, that's why they don't show everything through cutscenes. I do agree that sekiro left some unanswered questions, but what I know souls fans prefer that, as they mostly hate western style of storytelling in games. The only thing that bothers to me is sekiro don't make his own decisions except killing owl in Shura ending.

      @@thelastpersononearth9765 the typical ninja in fantasy, yes, but real historical Shinobis are spies, and espionage is their specialty, and shinobi is a job, Samurai is a social status, so a samurai can be a shinobi, and quite common, and so is a farmer, a keisa, anyone really, for crucial intel collection, the problem with Sekiro story telling is that it is half souls half typical cutscenes type of storytelling, so as result bad at both, Sekiro both has a name and a character and backstory, so you can't self insert like souls game, but doesn't have the necessary depths and character of a normal cutscenes heavy game, which results in a bland character that seems to go wherever the story needs him to go, Emma, Kuro, Owl, Isshin, Genichiro, all have better and well defined character traits than Sekiro, which is bad cause Sekiro is supposed to the main character, each of the endings, minus the Shura one, has unfulfilling closure, sequel baiting even, left a bitter taste in someone expecting more, its theme of immortality and corruption has been done better in the souls game, and the actual story is weak, this is why despite liking the game, I don't think it is worthy of the GOTY title that year, but that is a meaningless title anyway.

      I think it’s because Genichiro unsheathed it first so when Owl killed him he took it without the death part

    I have one trophy left till platinum have to grind out 9 more experience points on my 4th playthrough. I feel like these two bosses gave me trouble because I didn’t fight them before and I did it on my 3rd playthrough with the blood demon on. I thought blood demon was a challenge, omg giving back kuros charm feels like very hard mode where bell demon just feels like hard mode. I just started my 4th run and the samurai are pulling out new moves I’ve never seen and the game is punishing me for not deflecting like omg this is gonna be crazy
