Mario Kart DS Credits - Single Screen Edit

- I got nostalgic for the credits of several DS games I've played recently, and Mario Kart DS was one of them. I noted how it was similar to Evangelion's ending credits (Or, at least the edits with miscellaneous figures doing things on the right-hand side of the screen), and wondered if I could edit the game's credits to be in the same style. After some tweaking, I think it looks pretty good.
I used a widescreen code to make the game render in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and rendered the scene in 4K. I separated the two screens, and put them in different video layers in Premiere. I then chroma-keyed out the black on the bottom screen, and positioned the credits to the left side of the screen, while also zooming in and repositioning the top screen so Mario wouldn't be as obscured by the credits.
It was effectively dumb luck that the game's credits sequence played out perfectly for me to edit it like this. I know this won't reach nearly as far as my other videos, but this was something I really wanted to try out. I hope you enjoyed it.

I like DS's credits more than the others because instead it legitimately feels like the end of the game: The races are done and the day's over. Time to head home.

This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest credits Nintendo has ever made. The music matches the atmosphere perfectly. The scene fades in as the main melody starts, your character slowly drives down the sunset lit road alone reminiscing about all the great times that were had in this game, and then the music speeds up and changes tone completely as the other seven racers drive past one after the other, the 5th place finisher comedically going earlier than they should before slowing down and letting the 4th placer to go before them, and then to end it all, your character speeds back up to the front just as the screen fades to black, and then the song ends. I miss the days when Nintendo really put this kind of effort into their credits instead of just showing a slideshow of pictures or whatever. Granted, Paper Mario The Origami King has very similar credits to this in appearance, which is certainly great, but that’s just one modern game as opposed to nearly every first party game back in the day.
This is pure nostalgic bliss.
It's my favorite credit scene of all time up there with hero from bomber man r.
It reminds me of my yourself and how I'd play with my brothers for hours upon hours on these games.
Mario kart d's is my favorite kart racer of all time and I've had so many great memories with it.
All I want to say is people never let go of what you love.
I sold all my ds games and I regret it deeply.

I always used to think everyone was driving to peaches castle to eat cake or something like that.
Or everyone is driving home since the races are done then locking their karts in their garages since the game is over almost like a metaphor for leaving your childhood and growing up.

I remember getting my 2ds in June 2011. I was only 2 years old at the time but it was like that game was meant for me. Coming back 11 years later, Im very happy I played this game
got one around 2012 and same here. i was 4 and played the shit out of that game and now im 16 and can finally relive that sorta feeling :P
I remember scraping up all the cash I had (I was still in elementary) to buy MKDS and getting the complete ending to be greeted with the true title screen. I don't know ehy but I suddenly had the urge to see this again after about 10 years

I don't care what you all say: THIS will always remain the best Mario Kart game of all time, with Wii & Double Dash tied for second and Super Circuit just barely reaching third (7 honestly is 4th place for me).
Once I saw this version of the credits once my brother and I beat Mirror Mode, I broke down crying in joy and hugged him. My favorite version of any Mario Kart game's credits, and I will die on the hill that this will stay the best Mario Kart game. Personal bias? Sure - it came out the year I was born, after all. But don't any of you DARE to disrespect this masterpiece of a game.
