    Will Sultan Suleiman find out about the affair?
    The Sultana finds out about the affair between İbrahim and Nigar and has to make a critical decision. What will the Sultana do after what she's learned? Mahidevran and Prince Mustafa want to take revenge on Hurrem. Will Sultana Hurrem be able to save her princes? The Magnificent Century is on Star on Wednesday.
    The Sultana learns about the affair between Ibrahim and Nigar. She decides to share it with Sultan Suleiman right away. The Sultana can't hide her rage for Nigar.
    Hurrem gets on the way to be able to save her princes lives. She gets terrified after what she sees and starts to have fight with Prince Mustafa. However, there is an unexpected guest in the Hunting Lodge.
    Sultan Suleiman returns to the palace with the Sultana's call. The Sultana goes to her son but she can't have a heart to tell what happened. The Sultana ends up in a battle for her life.
    At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
    The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
    As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

    It's interesting how, in her imaginings, Hafsa pictures Hatice as powerful, near ruthless, even when emotional, whereas Ibrahim, throughout, is dressed down and appears far more submissive than in real life. This entire moment, though, is why, outside of worrying how it'd affect her daughter, I don't think Hafsa would actually mourn Ibrahim himself.

    • @plams4488
      @plams4488 Před rokem +12

      I think what could be influencing Hafsa's imaginings here is that "dynasty vs. subjects" mindset she has and enforces. Because in spite of her fear of how'll Hatice take such news, in spite of how broken will she be and how hard will it be to process, there's still a part of her that would project and exert the power of her dynastic position during an event such as this. Because it's not just Hatice's own feelings being hurt, her mental health worsening and her picture of a peaceful life being destroyed, it's also Hatice's dynastic pride getting wounded, along with all the other more massive damage the infidelity could cause to the dynastic family and order. Perhaps, in Hafsa's mind, this crime is *so* big that the side of Hatice that cherishes the dynasty first and foremost and is more up for executing the punishment of someone who dared betray her in such a way (also the emphasis on "And for whom?", along with the "You're nothing now" line a bit afterwards underlines that prevalent air of superiority in a dynasty member who stands her ground) would prevail in spite of it all. Maybe for Hafsa this is such a life-altering event that it's not something *anyone*, not even Hatice, can hand-wave away or forgive (this ended up not being true, of course, but I get why Hafsa would think so in such a state of fear of the likely devastating consequences). Ibrahim, on the other hand, is probably viewed as the cornered guilty party. The one who has been discovered by everyone and has nowhere to run, because what he's done is catching up to him. And no matter how much SS and Hatice love him and how much he's risen in the hierarchy, that's not something he could get away with so easily. And if SS and/or Hatice order divorce and execution, everything would be taken away from him, he would remain precisely this powerless and helpless as Hafsa still views him as a subject who gets his power precisely from SS and Hatice and when it's going to be taken away, well... Because, he's still a slave and they're still above him, he can't oppose the dynasty's law (at least not to a direct extent). And surely, in Hafsa's eyes, he would look this submissive while interrogated for a crime he has actually committed. He would look like a traitor who has so shamelessly dared to hurt her daughter like that. This may sound a little narrow, but it is what's circling in my mind rn. 😅

      Hafsa didn’t realize that by coddling and shielding Hatice from everything she made her daughter weak. This is why she was completely unprepared to face any hardships in life, she was spoiled rotten and hidden away from the harsh realities of the world. The moment there was no one to shield Hatice and she had to be slapped by the world’s cruelty she crumbled down and committed suicide. Hafsa indirectly destroyed her own child.

      It's not "just drama", in real history, some nations' Emperor's (such as Ottoman and Ancient China) must sleep with countless woman in order to have multiple heirs to secure the bloodline/throne, which is why a harem exists. So it's normal for the mother of the Emperor for sending woman into her son's bed. While for the daughters are usually married off to one man and that man must not have a harem. Unless the daughter is married to another nation's King or Prince where a harem is necessary for royal lineage.

      @@anonymous-ph9pm yeah, that is one thing that I find unnecessary too, I know they’re doing it to avoid a “brother trying to steal his brother’s throne and start civil war/rebellion” type of problem. But still, why wouldn’t they just let the other princes rule provinces as Governors when one has taken the throne, that would be good too and would highly avoid “rebellion from brothers” too. I know in some ancient China stories, some Emperors allows his own brothers or even uncles to rule provinces on his behalf as Governors.

All these concubines want to give birth to sons - and I understand why since daughters can’t ascend to the throne - but how could you give birth to a son knowing full well that he could possibly be executed at some point. Not for an actual crime but just for not becoming the Sultan? Hurrem had 4 sons with Suleiman. If all of them had survived their father, then 3 of the brothers would’ve immediately been executed! And that’s not even going with the “what if” on Mustafa not getting executed and possibly becoming sultan and killing his 4 brothers. No wonder the women in the harem were really fighting for their sons’ status! They not only wanted power but they also wanted their boy to live!

    let’ me tell the audience that watch this turkish show but aren’t Turkish. If known that’s good but let me jus say that this is a great show and every other ones down the line of history as well, the bloodline of turkic sultan ruler of ottoman lands, aside of the sultan male rulers that have came and gone leaving history and aside from their battles and great friendships, I find it so crazy fascinating the female sultans have the award winning for the gossip that lead to bloodshed not outside the palace but inside. The crazy drama and highly jealousy of concubines, the manipulation and how a slave girl can end up becoming the great rulers wife(s). From low to high and gripping of nails to really some women in the palace are either strong mental warfare or high level assassins 😂😂😂 but seriously a huge difference when someone is born in a rich family compared to someone becoming strong through life crisis and hunger for power then being richer and higher in status wealth than that of someone born and spoiled by golden spoon their lives. Life is hard but when a concubine uses it as motivation, then that girl gives birth to an even greater nation. Crazy awesome
