I once used the original JB Weld which is a two-part epoxy to seal a cracked weld on a vacuum chamber in which we ran a plasma process. The plant manager would not let me shut the machine down overnight until the welder could come so I told him I would try it and if it didn’t work I didn’t want to be responsible it held for the night shift and the next day the welder came in to repair it I was quite shocked.
Many years ago, in the early days of PC tech, I worked for a software company. We had a high-speed band printer for making thousands of mailing labels. One of the pins died and wasn't firing properly. They wanted $1000 to fix it. The part was $10. I asked how I could get the part? Well only authorized techs could order the part. Did I ask how to become authorized? They told me to just fill out a form. It always pays to keep asking questions. Let's hope that fix holds
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I was also thinking if the part didn’t stick properly or if the clamping was problematic that you could hold the frame horizontally in your stand. The drop out would then be flat and potentially it would be easier to work with / on. I’m interested to see how this turns out
Could you confirm which Muc Off degreaser is it exactly? I use their drivetrain cleaner and it's amazing (it looks green too, like the one you had here - maybe it's the same thing?)
Hello yes I use the Muc -Off drivetrain cleaner the green colored one. It is amazing and saves me a lot of time in the shop cleaning very dirty drivetrains.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad oh, good to know, I might give it a squirt next time I need to degrease something other than the drivetrain - instead of using Silca wipes, which work amazing for degreasing to be honest!
Is it me or is this a pretty clunky design choice from Bianchi? If they really wear out to the point that they include that shield, they just should have epoxied an aluminum layer on it and call it a day. Less warranty work for them, and 2 grams added to the frame. Win win
I am disappointed in this design! The original aluminum piece got bent and was about to fall off so I took it off. Bianchi sent me this replacement part. It seems it should be better and more permanently attached.

You are an ingenious fellow Mr Mark 🙂

Love this story! Red tape … you just need a good pair of scissors ✂️ 😂
I couldn’t have done better but it seems messy and I’d worry the clamp would get glued to the bike!
Indeed the glue spout is much larger than the aluminum part I need to glue. UPDATE: the C- Clamp did not get stuck to the bike :-)
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad thanks for letting me know! I really was worried thinking how it was going to stick to the clamp since it stuck to your gloves!
It is an Ultraviolet light So the adhesive is cured in part by UV light.
Thank You Mark

@@markfalkingham590 I did think about just laying the bike on the ground the next time I have to do this repair. Thank You for your input.

@@channul4887 the Silca wipes are good for degreasing but it leaves a film. I always have to go back and wipe off the film with another cleaner 😢
