I mean I am a therapist here in MD. All of our state hospitals are mainly psychiatric forensic (criminal) patients. There is no stipulation, “If they are too hard. If they’re too violent. Can we help them?” I mean literally they can be in the hospital for years-on-years until there is some progress, or if not they will stay there. State hospitals were meant for people like this man. They aren’t meant for most individuals with chronic mental health issues. Because, most individuals with chronic mental health issues are not homicidal or violent. But, this is like a perfect reason why there are state hospitals. For the most severe cases like this individual.

I was going to comment the same for here in GA. We have state hospitals as well, and when I had the opportunity to do my rotations there, I learned that it was mainly for criminal patients (some minor offenses and some MAJOR offenses). There were patients that that been there for years attending sessions so that they could be competent, and the psychiatrists were the ones determining if they were ready for court of not.
They also had a whole separate part of the campus just for those patients that needed to be isolated in their own cells/rooms. There’s always a place to put someone. They lock people up for the most minor things, but they let me go because they say he can’t be helped? No one is beyond help.. and there are ways to help someone while also protecting those doing that job.

I have a question for you. My family and I are the victims of a former border (roommate) criminal case who became physically violent with us. Lo and behold it was revealed she was out on bond for "allegedly " killing her father. She apparently has been found incompetent to stand trial. The DA has told me she signed something and is being admitted to the state psychiatric hospital/prison "PERMANENTLY"
Considering it is a permanent admission will they still re-evaluate and discharge/release her if she gets better mentally?
I can't get a straight answer from the DA. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If you are 'competent' enough to walk up to a strangers house, bash their baby girl with a shovel and rape her, you are most CERTAINLY competent to pay for your crimes. Our “justice” system is a joke. Mental health can certainly be an explanation for why someone commits a crime, but it should never be an excuse, and it should never prevent punishment. If a criminal is deemed that severely mentally ill, they should still get the same sentence length as everyone else, but serve it in a high-security mental institution.

This hits home for me... One of my best friends was murdered earlier this year. Stabbed in the throat and bled out in broad daylight in the center of town. The guy that did it has been arrested twice in just the past year for violent occurrences and got away with both of them because he was "incompetent."
Christina, this was pre-meditated. He carved "murder time" into his mother's dining room wall before he left to do this and posted on Facebook that he was going to kill her. His neighbor called the cops on him after he threatened the lives of her and her children, broke their garage door and slit all the screens in her windows (unrelated, just shows how dangerous he really is)
This man is in his mid-thirties and at this point I fully believe he feels he is invincible because he keeps getting away with this behavior. It's being said that he may be let out AGAIN because of his "mental deficit." How can they do this? He's a danger to EVERYONE and he better hope his butt stays right where he is because street justice WILL be MUCH worse than life in prison...
Her name was Emily Hamann. Absolutely beautiful girl with a beautiful soul. 26 years old, with her whole life ahead of her and had become a mother not long beforehand. Just gone...

When mental illness comes up in your videos, you reiterate multiple times that you don't want to offend anyone. I completely get your anxiety around this topic, but I think those of us that struggle with our mental health really appreciate how you go about talking about it in such a non judgmental manner. I don't want to speak for anyone else but I think people watching know that what you're discussing and our struggles are two separate things. Most people that are diagnosed with a mental illness aren't violent ... at all. One of the reasons I continue to watch is because of how much you DON'T speak poorly of anyone struggling with a mental illness, criminal or not. I have worked as an RN in a Georgia State Psychitric facility with forensic psych patients that are considered incompetent to stand trial. These patients stayed in our facility until they were considered competent. If that meant until the day they die, then that's what it meant. I have taken care of patients that had been there for decades with no plan of discharge. We had the worst of the worst and attained court orders to medicate when a patient refused. It was a violent place to work.

This is horrific. If the justice system won’t help and protect then survival of the fittest needs to happen and if that means sound minded individuals need to “deal” with him so be it. The person has done and is capable of horrific crimes then society will need to rise up and protect themselves since the law won’t. Very sad horrible situation.

Judge deserves to be fired. He told the judge what he was going to do. Said the first girl he sees he will attack them. She still released him. He attacked his neighbor's 8yr old daughter with a shovel, beat her till she was unrecognizable, and proceeded to have his way with her. Judge should be put on trial as well. He's currently locked up. He's not walking free.

A personal note...I thought they were coming down on being too hard on him! It only took me two minutes to do what they had tried for a long time!
