The 2024 World Juniors just wrapped up and they were complete chaos. There were upsets, fights, game misconducts, great goals, great saves, and as always, entertaining hockey.
Surprised to hear Czech Republic described as an "emergizing new hockey country". Including Czechoslovakia, the "predecessor" to the Czech Republic, Czechia has the 4th most olympic medals. Only one less than your Americans ;)
Czech is a new hockey country? In what world is this guy living in? Czech and Czechoslovakia have been medaling in international ice hockey since the first Olympics and are only behind Canada and Russia in total medals won....Not bad for a country of 10MM people.
Doesn’t matter. The IIHR has a 0 tolerance policy for hits to the head in the WJC. Hits like those have been 5 minutes in previous tournaments as well.
Just feel like I should point out that the brawl at the end of the gold medal game was initiated by an American crosschecking a Swede hard. So all the swedes did was stand up for their teammate
As an American who is a WHL fan, it’s kinda hard not too root for Canada. The American team is always putting NCAA players in (most of whom I don’t know) while the Canada team (among others) puts CHL players in. I find myself rooting more for our WHL junior hockey kids.
That Tournament was the most unpredictable, and craziest I've seen... Good to see no American kneeling for the Anthem... The only thing missing, was Team Russia...
Don't know about embarrassing with the fights. A crosscheck from USA instigated the fight, swedish player standing up for eachother. What's embarrassing is that you can't fight without gloves. USA went through the tournament undefeated so they deserved the win.

Due to the conflicts with Ukraine they haven’t been able to participate the past few years
