As soon as I saw it I thought that his time in the game would be over. Michkov is still unproven on NA ice vs men and the rest of the supporting cast is weak in comparison to Colorado, New York, New Jersey (their young players are ridiculous), Vancouver, Edmonton, Florida, Detroit, and hell even the Coyotes.

@@darthollpheist1156 I’m not a flyer hater. They’re irrelevant and have been for years. I’m a Leaf hater. My point was that you’re highlighting this supposedly great pipeline of prospects as if other teams don’t have an equal, and a lot of cases better, pipeline of prospects. If not, then a young core that will continue to dominate during the window of the Flyers’ prospects.
Vancouver for instance. Hughes, Pettersson, Boeser, Hronek, Willander, Lekkermaki (just won MVP - look at the past list of MVPs of those tournaments. 97% go on to become a stars), Hoglander, Demko, Brzutewicz (leading the OHL in his D+1 as a RHD D) etc.
Colorado still has a young core with an extended window.
Arizona. Cooley, Keller, Soderstrom, Geekie, Simashev, But, Guenther, Lamoreaux, Durzi, etc.
New Jersey has J. Hughes, Hischier, Holtz, L.Hughes, Nemec, Casey, Gritsyuk, Bahl
Chicago with Bedard, Moore, Nazar, Gajan, Green and likely one of Celebrini or Eiserman after this year.
Then Detroit with ASP, Edvinsson, Kasper, Danielson, Seider, Cossa, etc.
I could go on and on. Buffalo, Anaheim, LA, Minnesota, Winnipeg, San Jose, Nashville, Hurricanes, Blues, etc.
All with superior young talent. Flyers aren’t even in the top 20. They are not scary lol.

    • @darthollpheist1156
      @darthollpheist1156 Před 4 měsíci +1

@@maseratimitch531 Flyers aren't even close to irrelevant. They were 3rd in the East until they just dropped 3 games straight..... or was it 4? Doesn't matter. They are 3rd in the Met. The toughest division in hockey.
They've been doing VERY well. They have some really, really good goal tending right now (Though Hart's leave of absence will hurt that). They have the 2nd best PK in the NHL and are tied for the most shorties... I would say they are far from irrelevant. So would literally anyone that knows anything about hockey.
And, they are in the middle of a rebuild. They just signed Tippett. He's breaking out now. So the fact that they are in BY FAR, the hardest division to play in, and are in a playoff spot, with basically an AHL team and a few stars with only one superstar (that doesn't score much), I think they are doing just fine.
They are a playoff team this season. How far they make it, who knows? But, they are anything but irrelevant.
As for their pipeline, they do have a much deeper pool than most. It just so happens that a lot of their prospects are currently playing. But they still have tons of talent in waiting. So much so that they are having issues with the roster because there are players that should be in the NHL, but aren't because the guys that they didn't think would be steady NHL players, are forcing them to keep them there.........
And Michkov alone is enough to push most other teams back a peg. There were scouts that had him as the better player when it came to Bedard and him. However, one, he asked to be drafted by The Flyers and asked other teams not to draft him. And he told those other teams that he was going to finish his KHL contract (he's not) just so he would get drafted by The Flyers.
"Michkov is perhaps the best draft-eligible prospect I've ever seen in the offensive zone. (crossed the opposing blue line) He might be the best prospect I've seen in this area, or otherwise, he's not far from it," Pronman wrote. "His skills and offensive instincts are truly incredible."
      Just something I found quick.
Michkov (that's a better pick than any other team's top prospect, Tippet, Cates, Konecny, Foerster, Farabee, Frost, Bonk, Brink, Zamula, Lyksell, Drysdale, York.............. The list goes on. All young players that are just getting started, or haven't started yet.
But yeah.... you're a 100% a Flyer hater. If you don't think a team that was just 3rd in the East, with no superstars besides a defensive forward (Couturier), that has the pipeline they have, you should be very scared of them. If you're not, you don't know much about hockey.

Compared to the strength of previous years and our very new roster, we all kind of knew the US, Sweden, a d the czechs were probably going to knock us out. I don't really understand what Swedish fans are complaining about here. Their players were unable to handle frustration which led to fighting. The Swedes completely lost it at the end so they started fighting 'two on one' and even than they lost the fight! :-) It was really entertaining to see a big Swede being taken down by much shorter US player. He apparently forgot, that it's not about the size of the fighter, but about the size of the fighter in that particular player. Anyhow, the officiating didn't affect the final outcome at all. The USA were clearly a better team - they were much faster, more skilled and they also had a better goaltender. The Swedes were never really in it. But that certainly doesn't change the fact, that they had a really good team this year. A lot of talent! Sandin-Pellikka was probably the most impressive. The kids just couldn't handle all that pressure coming from high expectations. But with the amount of talented players Swedish system is able to produce every year it's just matter of time before they get the gold. Thanks for a great tournament, guys. Your people did a hell of a job!
