I've been to some legit movie studios who would be jealous of this setup.. Our sound guy will love this video!! 😂🔥🔥
I love when you can tell someone is so passionate and knowledgeable about something!!
it seem he is :)
Great video Parker. Long time subscriber. Much of my channel revolves around Dolby Atmos and Home Theater Tours with Dolby Atmos systems. It’s great to see some of the behind the scenes of what it takes to get the Dolby Atmos mix into a Home Theater. Keep up the great work.
This was extremely cool. It's really neat to see what goes on behind the scenes.
Amazing video, Parker! It's very useful
Man, I just LOVE your energy! ✌️
You seem so passionate about your work, wich is SO cool! 🤙
So you definitely got a new subscriber! 😜
When it comes to Atmos, I think the best setup is to have the downward firing ceiling speakers instead of just the front two height speakers.
I personally think four height speakers pointing towards ones skull is the way to go. When one hears sound coming from above the sound is usually off in the distance first! Therefore wouldn't it be better to go with hight channels.
If nothing else for the bigger scale of sound!
@@totalplonker824 It really comes to placement and obviously quality of speakers...I've heard them both ways now in different setups and both sounded very good.
Always love a video with Brendon!
Brenden always coming thru with the entertainment 🤘
Great course! I learned a lot from audio guy
Brendan!! Super cool to see him leading a video on this channel! Great info guys
My favorite thing is that a studio like this is so accessible. I mean it’s not much, but for a mere 100k It gets the job done right? So if you’re on a budget, just follow these instructions and you’re good to go.

hahahah dude right
Love his energy and his jokes.
This was awesome!
Working in this atmosphere must surely keep you fresh.. #eargasms. Goddamn! Dolby Atmos.
I live for the height channel ,Dolby true,Atmos, good dialog and great sound mix throughout 👌
Love this video 👌🏽💪🏽💕
“It ain’t much, but it gets the job done.”
Amazing.. I Like the setup
I like your personality and very outspoken body language. Please let us see more of you in the next videos.
This is freakin' awesome! 😍
So cool! 🔥
this is sickk!! we wanna do a 5.1.4 setup for our living room... but we don't have that kind of budget lol
Great advises! More on audio, please!
Beautiful setup
You energy is good and interesting way to tell
This so cool Content!
great video !!!!
Great to see an actual walkthrough of sound mixer's room. It tells a lot about why surround sound varies significantly between movies. I would like to offer my two cents though. The reason the Fathom J12 felt "tighter" than the 13 inch is due to the bass frequencies that the bigger sub is capable off. ULF reproduction and perception varies considerably as you go down the frequency. For example, 15Hz will sound "slower" while 30Hz will sound "tighter" and "faster." It has nothing to do with subs. I wish sound mixers used more LFE in the movies rather than terminate it at just 25-30Hz. I apologize for my unsolicited opinions.
Nice setup 👌
He is crazy.. last 3 secs of the Video just awesome 😂
Amazing 🌩⚡⚡⚡⚡
The gear is nice, but that shirt is on another level!
i am loving Apple Dolby Atmos !
This is cool and unusual 😎
More of this stuff please
These bytheway boys are pretty off the charts...too good.
Brawo, good job👍
👍 perfect
Precisione sound...😉😍
Goddamn that's a beautiful setup.
Loved it, and I want one. Lol.
The audio on my Iphone 6s is pretty sick!!!!
Brilliant Atmos system with Barefoot. Great video, ending made me laugh
As a film student, I think I might need this
Just another 15 years and u might b able to afford it!!!🤣

Awesome BareFoot studio monitors!!
Gonna hv to sit in that counch 🌟😍 .. 7.1.4
Very high quality set up. You could get the same quality product that they're getting out of this room for probably half the price though. Maybe less. I've been to Blackbird Studio in Nashville and their Dolby Atmos room is something to see for sure.
Blackbird might be the coolest studio in the world. Especially that room with all the diffusion in it. 😌
Have you thought of just using the Smyth Research A16 for Atmos development.... it comes pre loaded with the Surrey and BBC studios but you can put any studio you want on it... it mixes Atmos with available 24 channels... speaker models also your choice... so you can have a studio that cost $1 million loaded if you want.... its an amazing product...
It may be just me, but if I'm the only one watching a movie and I'm sitting in the center, I prefer to turn the center channel off and use just the main L +R for the vocal mix (preferably still stereo). I find the phantom imaging from standard stereo much more realistic than having the vocals physically coming out of a point in the center. But for multiple viewers, a center channel is the best. Great system and thanks for the tour!
How do I get into this profession? I love sound but I don't know where to start. I don't have equipment anywhere near this but I love this stuff. Being able to immerse yourself in sound and feel like you're there is just a great feeling.
Try to find an apprenticeship. But, I believe they are extremely rare these days. Another way is to hire a professional studio for one of your projects (if you have a band or make music, you can save up and get your music mixed there, hopefully with you being there.)
I love that on all those YT content videos... when the videoproducer do it their framing is beautiful but their sound sucks. And the framing and light of those audio guys can't keep it up to the previous mentioned, but the sound is just amazing xDD
But this video is great :) not the most amazing framing, but it's pretty good I think :D
Nice
Woah those straps for the Footprints look scary as hell to put up
Wow!
Cheers
What receiver are you running and how do you connect it to the system?
What desk do you use? Trying to get a desk for say my keyboard, mouse, monitor and monitor controller that doesn't affect my acoustics like a big console desk might
Are they active speakers? How did you connected it to the receiver?
Really cool, but there needs to be different post audio for theatrical or for home audio. Most people watch a movie on a regular TV at home and I personally am sick and tired of riding the volume on my TV for everything I watch, it’s either too loud or too low. I think that if it’s for television mixers should listen to the audio coming out of a regular TV speakers after you do your fancy Atmos mix. That way you know what the true levels are. I’m always cursing the sound guy when I watch a movie
You could buy an Apple TV and enable the “reduce loud noises” setting. It reduces out the loud parts but keep the low volume up.
Or you can watch in videoplayer such as Potplayer and turn on the compressor, it will do same thing as apple "reduce loud noises"
czcams.com/video/cnX4pVrxqq0/video.html
GTFOH.. lol We all know what the true levels are since we have ............ Levels and standards. Movies are mixed for theaters or killer systems with tons of dynamic range. You're tv or receiver or set top box should have a dynamic range compressor. Use it.. Your cursing someone because it seems you don't know how to use what you got or you got gear from 1980.
@@godboy159 Exactly. And this guy is mixing sound for little movies that will never get theatrical. Not only that, they are super low budget movies that will 99.9% be watched by people on their home TV with the the built in speakers, that don't have the dynamic range. So now you're asking the viewer to conform to your crappy mix by having to do special things to their TV. I've tried this and it still doesn't work well. The guy here is mixing subtle sounds on super fancy speakers with dynamic range that will get lost on any home TV. Now maybe he is aware of this and compensating for it. He may be a great post mixer, I'm just saying that the majority of Hollywood movies' audio suck on home TV.
Awesome video ! Sad for not getting so much videos as the other "click-baity CZcamsrs" have.
i couldn't even afford the electric bill to run this, need that lottery win
Plus Izotope software 😁💪🏽
I love to watch the things I can't afford 😂
It's amazing 🤩
😂😂😂😂😂😂
On ur side !! 😖😖😖
czcams.com/video/cnX4pVrxqq0/video.html
Sad part is my set up is around $4K for sound, yet I still enjoy the headphone experience. Clarity is better. Removes a lot of the variables.
Great video. Question: what do you think about the Barefoot gear? i eval’d a couple different levels of their monitors, their MM12’s and their MasterStack units a couple years ago. At that time I found their high frequencies to be a bit shrill and unnatural and the mids not capable of a natural, open sound when presented with pristine recordings. They seemed like great modern bass-heavy, compressed dynamics music monitors, but barely above average for symphonic, powerful open vocals or complex string recordings (to name a few).
Have they advanced yet, as I have heard people speak very favorably about them?
I am a bit spoiled, as I listen to a lot of live un-amplified music, and do a lot of 2fs and beyond DSD recordings with Sanken Chromatics, Neumann M149 dual capsule tube mics and the like. A basic check I do to validate monitors is how well they fare compared to live, Ocean Way HR4S’s or even Focal 11 series that we sometimes use for ABX. The Barefoot mons fared about average then, but they had only just been released; so I am wondering if they’re worth a second look now, given all the seemingly satisfied users.
Dang, $100,000 for a sound system! That’s crazy! Would love to hear it in real life! Is the bass good in there? If not I should try the electro voice elx200 18sp.
definitely worth it

@CHARLES 13X 2 skinny stand for 1.2k lmao
I’d be curious to know what Blackbirds ATC wonderland in Studio C runs…
Can you share how to setup Logic Pro X with Dolby Atmos?
Necesito jugar Need for Speed ahí!!!
Fun fact is, that about 2 out of 5 cases editors manage to upload videos, ( music videos, tvc's, shorts, or even long movies ) in MONO onto online platforms ! As a fim composer I grab my head literally weekly, how they CANNOT hear that all sound comes from the center.....I guess it is an AVID Media composer flaw... probably all the audio files they grab , are put automatically onto a mono channel, panned center, or the stereo waves are split and panned.... whatever the reason is, it is cathastrophic trend....

And here I thought my $250 sound bar was the epitome of home theater
get 10 more soundbars and a subwoofer :D
Does Atmos mastering require the Dolby RMU? or is it just for theatrical releases?
I believe it's built in to Logic for free now. I could be wrong, but I think you only need the RMU still to author CD & BluRay masters... or something like that. Maybe there's an object limit w/ the open license Atmos plugins too..?
Canon 1DXii. music video setting, picture profile, lens, editing sequence timeline setting, editing export setting. ??????????????????
Can you make a video full guide step by step or tell us please 😢🙏

only a single 12 for substage? was expecting alot more than that to get reference levels
wow the only thing missing is some klownz doing bangers in there
imagine producing music there ;D
Why does he keep getting these voice cracks? 😂 Nice video btw
I've trained for YEARS to be able to get my voice to do that. I'm glad people are finally noticing!
hmm personally I would have designed it differently, but then he did say that his requirement is having 1 person on the sofa while another person is behind the screen, so I guess it's a very different workflow. Personally I'm just a 1 person team so that's why I design mine with just the 1 position
I love your stereo. 2 Subwoofers would take it to the next level. 👍
What’s the size of the room?
Is the TV OLED?
I swear to you, ring light is so underrated
i had my heart set on the 11.2 setup made out of genelec 8341. Now i have doubt. Is still anything wrong if I go with genelec? did you had any experiecne with 8300 series? Would love to hear your opinion since I am about to spend on speakers the money reserved for buying an electric car. Thank you!
Blackbird Studio in Nashville uses genelecs. I say those are world class speakers.
Yeah that’s a great system! I believe that’s the model that Richard Devine has. Blackbird has the ATC’s in their atmos room which is stunning. I personally like ATC and Barefoot over Genelec but everyone has different ears! So whatever makes the most sense for your ears and head. If you can get some monitors to test through Vintage King, I think that’s the best way to go
@@romerarecordspodcast Thank you for your reply! I will research BB Studio and try to reach them for some questions!
@@ThatAudioGuy Thanks for taking the time to reply! I was using genelec and yamaha (2 way monitor) since 1998 and now I want to upgrade to a (3 way monitor) permanent 11.2. set for the next few years but I keep running into advice to go for the Neumann / and other brands since are better specs for my symphonic/epic orchestra work. I am also very curious about what makes the other users to click with certain brands/sound. I saw that Vintage Kings are in the US. I am based in the Netherlands and looking online for someone that had experienced and compared 2 or several brands and can tell the difference since I am also very open to change my preference even if my ears are trained with Genelec and Yamaha but my research time is also running out :)
ATC is the way to go over Genelec and really any other brand for a 3 way monitor. The midrange dome driver opens up a world of insight into your music. It’s an ATC specific design, and not all dome midranges provide the same benefits that ATC’s do.
It’s capable of going all the way down to 380hz which makes it an amazingly capable driver, across a wide frequency band.
Their drivers also use a “super linear” design, allowing for incredibly low distortion. They really do across the entire frequency band sound much more accurate than any other brand. They are not flattering monitors though, and you will hear the issues with your mix front and center.
However ultimately, whatever your ears prefer :)
would that room make dialog in tenet more intelligible?
I would love to donate a Dolby atmo! Subs
Do you think we'll ever get to a point where movies that were originally mixed for a large commercial cinema, will be remixed for home video?
They already are, it's called LtRt mix.
