Beautiful! Just beautiful. The best thing to happen to me in the past 2 years is to have discovered Joan Chamorro and the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and the extraordinary talents within it, including those wonderful musicians who have now graduated and moved on to careers in music. Thank you all!

Élia has really developed into quite a jazzy chick. She is swinging and confidently navigating beautiful solos incorporating a little bit of Bird and some Grappelli, Nance, and lot of Bastida. I hope to hear a lot more of her in the future. The future of jazz Violin. Joe sounds awesome as always. I like the way he casually uses that third valve by itself haha! You animal!

The very talented and exceptionally gifted Elia has developed into a fine musician in spite of her young age. She is sooo mature, and it is clear to anyone that her musicianship has grown exponentially over the past few years. The violin is almost equal to a horn or wind, in that the sustain is in the hands/breath of the player as opposed to, for example, a guitar or bass. There are, technical complexities in each of the instruments, of course. But she manages to bring a wonderful tone and sound, in good taste, to everything she does. Amazing!
One of the most beautiful arrangements of Misty that I've ever heard. She plays that violin as if was an extension of her soul. I can't say enough about Joe and his horn. And of course there isn't a piano man better than what you hear. Simply the best all the way around. Mr Chamorro goes without mention.

In addition to being great music, this is a wonderfully bright, crisp recording. The violin sounds particularly strong.
Jazz is an emotional language. It touches something inside, sometimes softly and sometimes with a slap across the face. When I listen to and watch Èlia Bastida the jazz reaches deeper into my soul. I am an aficionado, a lover of her music.
Beautiful rendition of one of the prettiest ballads ever written. Thank you Erroll Garner for writing it and Joan Chamorro and musicians for keeping it alive.

I can't believe someone has that kind of a right hand as Elia Bastida does - it's simply wonderful.
I have been a professional violin player for a long time, and to me the last really interesting players were Stuff Smith and then Jean Luc Ponty. Otherwise there were some excellent classical players, but the right hand always was kinda boring when it came to express their feelings - which is in classical music not allowed, anyway.
But now this young wonder woman seems to have it all. She can play perfectly and she can really express the feelings with her bow and let the instrument sing the way it should.

But what Stuff does there is a perfect example what music on a violin can really sound like.

Hola Daniel. Pues sí, el maestro Ignasi Terraza se quedó ciego a los 9 años y curiosamente fue entonces cuando aprendió a tocar el piano. De todas formas la historia del jazz incluye muchos pianistas ciegos famosos, como Art Tatum, Ray Charles, Tete Montoliu (el mejor de siempre para muchos críticos, junto a Oscar Peterson), Ignasi Terraza o Markus Roberts, por citar solo a algunos.
