Well I never used baling wire, but I did once use a wire coat hanger and a lawnmower blade to fix the exhuast on my 1972 Mercury. Held for several weeks. I think your fix will last longer than the original did.
Thanks for posting and thumbs up!

Whatcha know, Mike! I did a similar temporary repair the other day. But I grabbed hockey tape from the office to get me home, then upgraded to an old extension cord once home. Great fix farmer Mike. 😂😂. I wonder how many people around our age didn’t fix something with wire. I have fixed many little things on my truck in my garage. U-joints, front and rear drive shafts, transmission line leak, alternator, fan blower motor and a few other little things. But my truck is an 2005, so things go wrong.
But lucky me, my son works at a ford dealer. And he has a hoist in his home garage. So lately some things get done there.

Yep, that will do her. Heck, there aren't too many vehicles that my brother owned that didn't have some form of wire holding something together. My wife and I had a 1972 Chevy Vega that the driver side door would swing open every time we made a right turn so we just tied it shut once we got settled inside the driver's seat. We couldn't afford jack squat and that was when Hamberger Helper just came out on the market and it's good that it did b/c we couldn't afford to buy jack squat. We ate a whole lot of Bagels with peanut butter on it. Our old Vega was constantly getting tied, wired, or duct taped to keep it on the road. So, good job Grampie. Hey Mike, If there is anything I do not like to do is, Exhaust, Tires, Drywall taping and Body work. I will if I have to but there are people out there that do like to so I try to support them any chance I can eh, LOL. Yer always busy old friend. Doing it right once again ! You know my love of dialectic grease. I like to add a marine, zinc bar close to these areas. With the knowledge of mixing metals that has been around for at least the last 100 years why they take a step like this intentionally is sure beyond comprehension eh. Replacing steel from aluminum is defiantly a good thing to do. A bit of rubber belting in the middle sure is a good idea as well. For a bush fix this could last quite some time, COULD, LOL. I am glad you are planning to get a proper hanger on. I hope you can find a steel replacement. If not the zinc anode will protect the anticize and dialectic. The wire will be like the rag allowing the frame and exhaust to move independently as they should. Don't get the one from Ford ! All the parts stores will have what you need. Muffler shops as well. OEM are twice what a good aftermarket piece will cost. Yer lookin good my friend. A big hello to your girl of course.

Rust never sleeps. "On a quiet night in Ford country you can hear the Chevys rusting." I am very impressed with this repair. The solid bracket bolted up and the hay wire used as a flexible hanger is just so me. That'll last a long time. LOL I wired up the muffler hanger on my Volvo last month (using wire, like you did). I carry a small toolbox in my vehicles and include a muffler hanger in it, but it didn't fit well in that certain spot under the Volvo. They are a muffler clamp attached with flex-rubber to a heavy steel strap about 6 inches long. How's she goin'? Thanks for tuning in Perter. Glad to have ya aboard!! I did use baling wire but the rubber hose is a new one on me. I would think the heat from the muffler would melt it, but maybe not. I ended up getting the proper hanger today and have it installed now. Thanks for watching and come back again!!
