Heavier things is underrated but only because he took his vocals to another level for continuum as well as his song writing to another level. E. G. Room for square has lyrics like "so the good boys and girls go to the right track... Etc etc" not really very deep. He has improved his lyrics with every album. But his guitar work is his best imho in his first 3 albums and esp heavier things has the most unique and probably his life's work in terms of guitar playing. Continuum is just a lot more melodic, but not as unique as heavier things. Heavier things is my fav album:)

I don't think many "musicians" in the pop world can do this these days. I mean John is top of the top in terms of musicianship always, so it's not surprising, but it's totally a flex.

The Heavier Things album has really made me re-evaluate John Mayer. Guy has a little bit more talent than I thought. This song's composition and execution, especially on record. Like John actually has more depth as a musician than I thought
