N.B. Lipsyncing is kind of seen as a no-no in the industry among singers. If you are a 'Singer' you better be able to sing. If you come to an Australian audience and lip sync, you are going to get raked over the coals. It's why Britney cops it each time she tours here and mimes. Australian audiences expect singers to sing and it's what we are used to. Can you imagine Tina, Kylie, Jess, Sia, Delta or Olivia all lipsyncing their tours?! LOL

Jess is in a movie called the sapphires. Amazing movie. Check out the soundtrack. Jess sings most of it. Including land of a 1000 dances, and so much more. One of my favourite soundtracks. She's amazing in the movie too.

I could listen to Jess sing the phone book, no matter what she sings she gives it 110%. And to me she is a cross between the queen of rock Tina Turner and Beyonce.

You should check out her Australia Idol audition. One of the judges that said yes to the audition was Marcia Hinds. Now Jessica is a judge on the Voice Australia. Also have a look at her film clip for Can I have a moment? The first song she sang at the Logies. She is wonderful.
Her sheer energy and passion she injects into everything she does, reminds me of Tina Turner in her prime.

I don’t think many Australian performers don’t sing live. Live TV is our bread and butter here so if you get caught lip syncing your career is pretty much toast. I remember Whitney Huston got caught out here on a tour lip syncing the majority of her show . People got up and walked out and she cancelled the rest of her tour. Admittedly the poor woman was high on drugs at the time and had no way of performing and shouldn’t have been on the stage . The moral of the story is no one wants to see lip syncing here - I can always buy your CD or download your recording these days but if you can’t perform live you may as well pack up and go home.
If you could not perform live you would not make it as the pub scene was for those that could pack the venue or you did not get a gig
The introduction was by a guy named Richard Wilkins, he is THE Entertainment guy in Australia, He interviews everyone and does all movie reviews. He also use to sing under the name “Richard Wilde” if you wanna check him out

She toured with Beyoncé as Her Opening Act, so Jess definitely learned a lot from Queen B, Like Beyoncé you’ll never see Jessica not sing Live, she’s Amazing and she so should have won her Season of Australian Idol, she’s shown them all because I haven’t heard from The Original Winner Damien Leith since, we all knew that she would get snapped up by and get a record deal anyways, it’s quite Funny that often The Artist that came Second Place often does better than the Winner, The exception being Guy Sebastian he won and is Huge now 😊✌️🇦🇺

Should check out the movies she has starred in. Someone here mentioned the saphires so I second that. Also there was Bran Nue Dae, no spelling mistakes, that is the actual title. Lot of brilliant Australian indiginous artist in that movie, also Missy Higgins is in that movie as well. I think you may have done a reaction to her. Great great music right through the whole movie.

If u look really carefully she looses her footing at the start of the second song, yet she kept on going. She was so close to landing on her face but she kept on going. Such a professional and I respect that.
The Logie Awards are aussie equivalent to the Emmys, but with a better party... many a name has been known to do the "Stride of Pride" (ain't no shame here baby) the next morning...one channel's, (usually channel 9) breakfast show will broadcast from the venue the next morning... and at least one of the hosts is guaranteed to be a little bit dusty...

The first song she sang is "Can I Get A Moment" - "Can I Get a Moment?" was written by Antonio Dixon, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Khristopher Riddick-Tynes, Carmen Reece, Leon Thomas III and Helen Jane Culver. Production of the song was helmed by Edmonds, Dixon and The Rascals.
In thr Middle of the song you can hear Babyface saying uh huh in the track. They worked together.
She was I think only 16 when she won Idol. And it took her awhile to find 'who she was' She is also a remarkable actress too.. She starred in The Sapphires (based on a true story) and a Television series 'The Secret Daughter' This performance I agree Dominic show off her amazing range and stamina. She was runner up in Idol, she didn’t win. That season was won by Damien Leith.

Jessica was in The Sapphires movie which made it into the Top 20 in the USA box office and is based on a true store of an Aussie indigenous group of family members who formed during the Vietnam War era and performed for the troops in Vietnam.
