David has said in interviews as far back as 2001 that Ann Wilson is his favorite female hard rock singer amd in his recent interviews talking about this vid he says that Ann sent out a tweet several years ago saying Disturbed inspired her. David reached out to her to thank her and they became friends. In the middle of recording the song in the studio David decided it needed a female singer as well and, according to David, Ann was the first and only option he thought of and wanted. He said he was star struck when they met her to do her part and felt like a kid on Christmas Day. Pretty cool story. I agree with David, she is the GOAT.

Thats an amazing story and an example of art recognizing art. Love it!

Dave's voice is killer good, and Ann's the freaking gold standard. Seeing her on this video is kind of like seeing an old friend you really like but haven't seen in years. As for this song, I recently went through a divorce and I'm still in the period where I notice symbolism like in this video. When the house explodes and the candle is extinguished near the end it I felt whatever it is they were trying to make us feel. Divorce is a sad, ugly, empty thing.

Ann Wilson’s voice is fire! I really enjoyed listening to this track. I don’t care this is pop rock, I like it. Dave and Ann’s voices are so clean and the interplay between them is neat. I loved the guitar too. This track has Evanescence vibes for me in both the sound and the lyrics.

I never thought of the Evanescence vibe. Very true.

This is an amazing song. Their voices are so perfect together. Hard to believe Ann is in her 70’s! Reason to Fight is another fantastic song by Disturbed (TW that it’s about addiction and depression). Another fantastic reaction ❤❤

Ann’s never stopped performing. Due to a falling out with her sister Nancy, Heart took a break for quite a few years, but Ann has been performing with her solo act The Ann Wilson of Heart Thing. I’ve seen her solo act twice in the last 6 years. I liked it better than Heart. She sang a few Heart songs but mostly covers of songs that had personal meaning to her like Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way” and of course her iconic version of “Stairway to Heaven,” which also performed when Led Zeppelin received a Kennedy Honor under Obama! You can watch it on CZcams.

I didn't know they had a falling out. Even family can't get away from the toll being an artist can take.

@@mcflyjp It had to do with a physical altercation between Ann’s husband and Nancy’s 2 sons.

Great reaction! I love this song. It reminds me of some of the great rock ballads from the 80s.

So David and Disturbed are greatness, that goes without saying. But I never realized how good the singer from Heart is until about 10 years ago. My girlfriend dragged me to a Heart show since I had dragged her to a Metallica show. I always thought Heart was ok, but I couldn't believe how good they were. First off, a good portion of their show sounded like a metal band -- they were heavy. Second, she was the best singer that I've ever heard live. I was pretty floored by both she and her band -- I knew almost every song but didn't know they were Heart songs and they were a lot louder than I would have guessed. I've been a fan ever since and was really psyched to see this collab with Dave and Disturbed.

Oh yeah man! The original female rockers. Her voice has stood the rest of time too. Black on Black one of my favorites of theirs.

@@mcflyjp Yes, that's a good one. That one surprised me the first time I heard it too. Much heavier that than a lot of their other hits around that time.
