Like they always say, an expert makes it look easy Tom. Beautiful work Tom. Thanks for sharing.
thank you bob
Tom,
Your fitment is superb & your welding of the panel is a work of art. Thanks for sharing your expertise & knowledge.
Rick
thanks for demonstrating
That's such a nice job thank you so much
Very nice bit of panel work here neat Tig welding too.👍👍👍
Wow Tom, that is high quality work. I don't think I'll ever get to that stage with my mig, but it's greT to see how it's done right. Keep em coming mate,
Thanks joe. This turned out well 😎
Thank you Tom for the education - great work!
Thank you 👍
This great work. I want to put flares on my 70 Camaro project and this makes it actually look doable and then I think of how good you are and how not good am I and I get freaked out 😂😂
😂 what’s the worse that can happen??? It’s only metal
@@Metal_shaper_tomlol😂never underestimate the ability of people to make things worse😂. Just kidding, man. I’ll definitely give it a shot. I’m
Almost done restoring my 996 and then it’s time to enjoy it and get cracking on the Camaro. I’ve been looking for an air-cooled Porsche for a bit but here in the states, even a major project is crazy money.
Excellent video thanks.
Good afternoon. That is beautiful panel fitment and welding. Thank you for sharing your expertise and talents. Really informative and educational video. Thanks and take care.
Thank you 👍 hopefully we can make many more videos like this to share with everyone 👨🏭
Great video mate
Cheers 👍 👨🏭
Definitely👍
Great vid!
Thanks 👨🏭
Stunning work
Lovely job. Can tell you’re true craftsman
Well thank you very much 😊
wow, this is a skill I want to learn you make it look so wonderful compared to everyone else id rather learn it from you!
ik other forms of welding and saw some many videos of people just using mig but the way your tig looks is so clean I need to learn this way
Great work and a pleasure to watch and great explanation of all your steps, really well done and new subscriber from me and I would say many more to come!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the kind words . I’m glad you liked it 👨🏭
Great video and thanks for sharing. Building a 911 on my channel also. Just subscribed to your channel and will be watching.
Great work...hope you can answer a few questions
You say your welding at 20 amps...what amperage was used for tack welding ..what thicknes is the sheetmetal 20 gauge?... also what type wire was used and its thickness ... what size of tungston is preferred for fussion or wire filling this kinds of panels. Very good info shared with viewers
Morning. I’m tack welding at about 24amps, the body panel is 20 gauge steel and I’m using 0.6 Mig wire and it’s a 1.6 torch set up . Hope this helps 👍
Superb work.
Thanks :)
Great video. Thanks
Thanks . I like this one too!
You're taking forever, mate 😮😊😂
Taking forever?
hi Tom just down the road from you, found Trev's channel so found you, great tips as forming a pick up cab for a 79 CJ7 making the cab like a series 2 landie , so your vid perfect for welding the curve corners, going to try and minimize the distortion so your technique great help, what was the power amps you use ? thanks again Sam
Hello Sam. I would tack on 28 and weld on 24 amps .
Superb work, Really well done. Also do you know where those rs arches came from ? Cheers
Thanks .there from a company called danks I think 🤔
If i get any 20vt coupe ill have to fit some weld arches onit be rude not to haha, but not the one im restoring now its my baby gotta keep her factory looking on the outside at least ahaha. Good work!!!
I forgot how well done this video is. Is that restricted space hammer at 12:26 one you fabricated?
It is indeed. I’ve made quite a few different hammers. I really like this video too!
Awesome work thanks for the video quick question how many amps did you use ?
Thank you, the amps were set to around 20, luckily the original wing was in good condition and to original thickness so didn't cause to much hassle.
Question about tig welding rocker panel where you cant dolly the back side... when your welding the outer skin... any tips how controll warpage ... should apply copper weld threw prime on the back side of the sheet metal as most cases your cant primer or paint your welds on the back side later in tight spaces
What was your setting on the R Tech Tom. Amazing videos as always :)
Probably around 23 amps
Great work, are you mainly fusing it and just adding filler when you need to?
Thanks
Hi Adam. Yes that’s correct if you’re gap is tight enough you can do this on lower amps meaning less distortion. Once you add wire your need slightly higher amps and this could mean more distortion and more dressing up to do on the panel . 👨🏭
Have you ever taken on making a set of fender flares for scratch? There are a few vids out there but something from your point of view would be great.
Unless you wan a bespoke set that would be the only reason I would make a set from scratch. There some good sets on the market and there pretty easy to fit
awesome explanation, but I have one question, may be more of a general concern:
what about the thickness of material at the joint...to me, seems like more of a fusion welding here, which from my experience made kind of a "valley" between the joined sections...is this considered ok? I have tried only smaller things, but at last resorted to adding too much material and grinding it of, with a bit of final planishing, just like mig welding, so not sure whats lesser evil here
Fusing the steel is my preferred way. There are no issues involved doing it this way. It joins together nicely and cleans up very easily without taking away any material. If your not that great at tig then I’d stay away from this as it will only cause you trouble.
Nice work. did you ever consider TIG welding with Silicon Bronze filler? it welds out with a lot less heat and dollies very nicely.
I wouldn’t join a panel using it personally myself. I don’t have an issue with it just personal preference. Thanks 👍
Great work as usual. But please drop the annoying music. Or keep it just for time lapse sections if you do them.
Thanks. Unfortunately when it comes to the music you can’t please everyone . I just edit in a way I like.
Why do I have the feeling that modern body shops, even the certified ones, don't even go to this professionalism and attention to detail and are closer to chop/hacks/get er' done quick shops...
What is the best wheel to strip paint and clean metal prior to welding without effecting the metal
Abracs rust removal poly disc
@@Metal_shaper_tom Yeah i been using a 80 grit rolloc 3m cubatron discs to remove paint from practice panels. but seems to leave a rough finish
