I feel like the fact that he was drinking everclear keeps getting glossed over. dude. my friend got so ill just from a SHOT of it. she didn’t feel right for days. my theory is given it was an older crowd, he probably was peer-pressured into drinking far beyond his limits which likely got him obliterated (bc its everclear!!) & no one knew what to do with him in this state, so people at the party and/or his friends panicked & tried to get him to sober up. they got him to stay there, tried to take care of him for a few days, AND made a pact to not tell anyone or send him home out of fear of looking responsible, but bc he was consuming liquor that might as well be gasoline, it dehydrated the f out of his body and he unfortunately passed away from it. that would explain why deb was acting sketchy bc she knew this happened in HER household which makes her responsible for him, or bc she was saving everyone’s ass. notice how no one from that party (except his FRIENDS) ever talked. she told his mother he ‘possibly’ was in that cot bc she had a guilty conscience. I had 3 family members murdered (2 I don’t know every detail but this one I do so I will speak on it) My cousin was brutally murdered in 2002 and honestly our whole family believe she was murdered by her boyfriend at the time and that he’s linked to numerous attempted abductions, sexual assaults, and possibly another murder that took place in that area and he’s been looked at, observed, questioned, etc. he was very abusive towards her (I won’t go into all details) and they were on and off for years. My mom will never forget my cousin saying “if anything happens to me, it’s him.” Cops completely botched her case too even though he had priors for domestic violence, my cousin had an OOP on him at one point and was in the process of pressing charges for assault (he talked her out of going through with it) he’s still walking free 19 almost 20 years later despite all of that. It’s so sad… I’ll never forgive that on the police’s part, my cousin sits in a cold case while her killer walks free and doesn’t get caught. It's always so upsetting when families like Kurt's get no justice or closure because of our broken criminal system. Every suspicious case deserves to be looked into. Hell, include suicides in that since it's been proven that those can be faked and have been. I definitely think he was killed. At the very least the coroner should have listed the death as undetermined. Like, they had no clue and just...guessed...

My father committed suicide last year, and because of the way he did it and where, his suicide was actually caught on camera and there were other civilians that witnessed it. Even though it was all on camera, I was shocked to discover that at least in my area, the police open a case for every single suicide, which includes them obtaining all of the individuals medical records, an extensive autopsy, and speaking to those close to the individual. It took several months for them to actually finally close the case, and again, that was for a very straight forward suicide. I know of so many true crime cases where a death (especially suspicious ones) is just automatically ruled a suicide, and no investigation of any kind is launched, so to actually experience the opposite from my local police department, especially for a very cut and dry suicide, was such a (welcomed) surprise. I really wish all police departments would enact that same kind of protocol. My heart breaks for all of the families of victims who get blown off by the people who are supposed to be the ones responsible for helping them and acting on their valid concerns over their missing or killed loved ones. So many unsolved cases could have been solved if police/investigators took swift action the moment someone was reported missing, regardless of whether they initially thought it was a run away or someone leaving on their own terms.

The first is Mary Boyle. She is probably the most well known & longest missing child case in Ireland. There are many theories & possible police & political cover ups in play, which I think is right down your alley. She was also from my local area, so we all want to know what happened to Mary.
The second is Jason Corbett. He was an Irishman living in the US who was murdered by his second wife & her father ( most people believe), however their convictions were overturned. A very strange case.

Sam’s story seemed sketchy. Who was he partying with all day before the actual party? He was already wasted. But he supposedly didn’t die that night. Who was he continuing to party with the next couple of days? I would think his buddy Sam. Also the only person that connected him to that party. I think Kurt was influenced by Sam and some of his older friends who went to the party. He decided to let loose and stayed at that house a few days. That Debra girl was sketchy about it probably because he was down there wasted or hung over when parents came looking but was told not to tell them. Unfortunately, at some point, something happened. Maybe he partied too hard and ODed on something else they didn’t test for. Debra’s conscience got the better of her and she made that call. But her boyfriend or Sam or someone found out and rushed to move the body. But now they’ve screwed with an investigation and everything got out of hand and no one’s willing to risk saying anything. His death may have actually been accidental to a degree, but those who contributed to it aren’t going to fess up. The homeless guy could have just made that comment unwittingly. And someone else could have just been screwing with the store owner to get a rise out of her. All involved basically immature asshats.

We have to remember in older cases like this, the drinking age in many states was 18, not 21. It didn't change until 84. So obtaining alcohol wasn't as difficult, nor were high school parties with seniors and college kids as likely to be broken up by police. Still a tragic story, and I hope the family finds closure.
