- GE 23.62'' 58dB Portable Dishwasher Review (GPT225SGLWW)
We got one because we HAAAAATE doing the dishes and it's been pretty perfect, can't complain! Hasn't had an issues, I think in this video I didn't rinse out the coffee grinds from the french press so that's why it got one some of the plates but whatever. 10/10 would buy again and again and again. Wish I bought one the day we moved in. - Věda a technologie
Wow. Great review. Number one tech reviewer in my opinion.
I’ll buy this Yuri. 😉😋
What’s the horsepower and torque? 🤨
You have to ❤ and pin this comment to make it extra legit.
Cheese Curd!
Buying a house with no dishwasher and I don't want to have to make the space in my cabinet for one. You're review has me looking at these now. Thank you. This is exactly what I want
I'm going to do the same, bought a house with a nice kitchen but no space to take out a cabinet to add a dishwasher, but I have room to move around a full size portable, and it will save gas for heating water and water and sewer bill savings as well
Exactly my house has no dishwaster installed and I hate washing dishes also hate dish racks on my counter. Definitely looking into getting this if I find one on sale
"Tamper proof by tampering with it" 🤣 great review. Just ordered ours
I've never seen a portable dishwasher before and I'd be lying if I said my mind wasn't blown.
Yes they have been around since the 80s, I have a 2000s Whirlpool portable. It’s the exact same as their built in lineup. So convenient of having the full space and power.
@@Goldenwoodz i bought a used one in 1975.👍
I would love to get one of these. I miss the dishwasher I used to have, such a life saver these things are for people like us who HATEEEEEE doing dishes
I don’t even hate it as much as I simply won’t do it. It’s like a deer stuck in headlights glaring at the dirty dishes. 😂 I paid $650 at us Home Depot.
Apartment hunting and dishwasher was a must, but very few options available, well at least at a decent rental rate. Definitely glad to see a portable dishwasher is an option.
You need to clean your removable manual filter at the bottom of the dishwasher under the lower spray arm and clean it. That’s why food bits are getting redeposited on the dishes
Awesome 😎, I didn’t know these existed. I wanted to install or I should say get one installed but that’s some unwanted demolition for now. This has given me another option. THANKS YURI 🤩
Thank you. This was super helpful. Places like lowes have zero information for the consumers, so I turn to CZcams. 10/10 review quality. You're awesome 👌 was already pretty set on blowing 700 on in now I know it'll be worth it.
❤️ thanks for the nice comment. Ya it was great
I’m glad I found ur video, ran my washer for the first time last night, now I understand the settings
I was so hoping there was a portable dishwasher. Yes and there you are showing one. I can’t believe some of the rentals with no dishwasher. Thank you for this video of yours. Thank you for explaining how easy too.
🔥🔥
Thank you so much for this video!!!!! We just had this one and we love it!🎉
I love mine,it's very quiet and it's very easy to clean the filter in the bottom.100% buy it!!!!!!
I bought a homestead with no dishwasher; it made me a hoarder house, loading the dishwasher apparently triggered my clean switch and without it I don’t/can’t clean. So my dishwasher arrives Saturday 💃🏽💪🏾❤️🔥
i love that you’re now making videos that you want to just because you can:))
Excellent review, Yuri!

I maybe able to explain! the dishwasher has a pre-wash tray and poring detergent (rather than the little packet) into it, along with the main tray can help. As the pre wash amount aids in cleaning during the hardest step.
2. The rinse aid compartment that's never used, probably should be, as it's adds chemicals to lessen waters able to cling to surfaces. In other words, less water on your dish at the end step makes drying easier.
These have been around seince forever my dad had one back int he 70's. Nice to see they still make them.
Great review. Would love to see more video on this channel.
Thanks for the review !! I will definitely be getting one
Thanks for your review and recommendation.
I just replaced a 23 year old Frigidaire portable with this model in black . It's nice to have the extra space. It's very quiet too. Hope it lasts as long as the Frigidaire.
Manufactured by Haier, I sadly doubt it will.
Finally a review on something I can afford!

Holy shit! I am a subscriber to Straight Pipes, and my husband and I are looking at moving into a new apartment and one drawback is we'd be losing our dishwasher that's in our current place. I wanted to see if portable dishwashers were worth it. FIVE SECONDS INTO THIS VIDEO -- FIVE -- I wanted to know the dishwashers HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE! *face palm* -- Thanks Yuri, you made my day.
🥰
added to wish list thanks yuri!
You cant see the User interface/timer when it's closed? That a massive design flaw.
Looks like a winner, thanks for the review
I use the pots & pans cycle every wash with Casscade, no issues! Also use Dishwasher Magic every 3 months to clean the washer!
Don’t forget to twist the manual filter out after every few washes and clean it!!
and dont forget to fill the pre wash!
I had no idea this was a thing. Nice!
Yes ! I’m getting this
Ya, washing dishes by hand is for chumps. ✊
It's so stupid you would think they would encourage it because you use a lot less water using a dishwasher than by hand I tried it I put a stopper in the sink uses nowhere near what I usually use to wash dishes by hand so I'm sold!! Hands down better for the environment!!
Mazda needs to consult me for their Gin Mai Tai because i'm feelin at one with this dishwasher right now
I have the same model and I love mine! It's so quiet. I h a t e doing dishes too.
do you still have it? how's it working now? I'm thinking of getting this because I cant stand hand washing anymore :((
I still have it and it works perfectly.
You need to load the bottom compartment better so all you dishes come out clean. I hate those packs. I always use a rinse aid and love the gel detergent. I hate these new machines!
I'm glad my landlord is around my age and chill.
He can't fix anything, so he's always asking me to do it and takes it off the rent, but I also get special treatment, like being able to get one of these dishwashers :)
My countertop one just died I've had it for years thanks for this review
Rip
I have never heard of such.....it's actually brilliant. I wonder if it would work for a converted caterers kitchen in a garage. I'll have to do some research. Anyway, nice review.
Now I not only look forward to car reviews
I love mine.....it's always packed and I mean packed. I doubt if you'll find this machine in Canada for that price. I use mine on the highest cycle every time.( with Cascade Platinum)Even my copper bottom pots sparkle!
Doug got a 2018 Kia, Yuri has a bootleg dishwasher
CZcams automotive journalism ain't all it's cracked up to be eh? 🤣
Was looking up dishwasher reviews and bam, Yuri from The StraightPipes. Insightful
I’m here to help
Not the exact model, but I love mine! I don't even bother to rinse the dishes and they come out sparkling every time. P.S. I hate washing glasses the most!
This was great. was thinking about getting it. My house is old and doesn’t come with one
Uk don’t have these but was interesting watching.
Wish uk actually had these as it’d be great for the many small kitchens that uk have.
What’s the Continental recommended tire for the 58dB?
I don’t know yet
@@YuriTereshyn Its actually the ExtremeContact Sport for fast dishwashing
Mac pro wheels would be oke you for this 😂🤛
Good thing I saw this. If it cannot get coffee grounds...not paying extra for a smaller one. Go with the ge tall tub...less money.
Just got the same model today. Wish the hose was longer, but ill just modify it
That's some old school technology. My parents used one of those in the 1970s.
Not just great car reviews! Dishwasher reviews!!!
Thanks for this review . I was at a loss moving unto a house without a dishwasher and was wondering how I would cope , before I stumbled upon your review. Is there a way not to move it around though? And are the wires long enough?
No. The hose is only 2.67 feet long.
I have this dishwasher. It currently has standing water in the bottom that won't drain. This happened before when it was under warranty a few months after I bought it. Apparently it was a quick fix. Now that the same thing has happened again I am one month past my one year warranty. I like it but it is frustrating. As another commenter mentioned, I cannot get the hose to go back in place properly either. BUT it beats hand washing for SURE!!!!
I gave mine away when I moved into my new place but ya. Beats hand washing 😍
Nice! I got a old dishwasher probably made in 1980 and it's crazy loud..lol
same. mines a hand me down old kitchenaide model from the 70s. beast build quality but the door hinge on one side finally rusted out. it still runs and cleans fine but it's sketchy and tedious trying to get the door sealed up. this GE is the one I'll likely get
Hey Yuri, I’m glad you’re making videos on this channel now. How did this risk eviction though???
You’re not allowed to have dishwashers here
@@YuriTereshyn nice, ya sneaky boi
This is so helpful!!! I am wondering if you can leave it on overnight or leave the house with it on? I am just wondering as you had to turn the tap on
Ya you can but I wouldnt
$1200 Cdn now, so you bought at the right time!
The powder in the box works just as good as those stupid pods and it a lot cheaper
Thanks for the video. Is portable dishwasher different to the standing dishwasher ? Please advsie.
I need this 😊☺️
Great video where can i purchase this one at thanks
the reason you aren't supposed to have dishwashers and washers in apt buildings not set up for them is most often because the plumbing can't handle it, and from experience with the neighbor having one it makes the cold water run hot in other units, which is totally awesome when your neighbors aren't expecting it.
❤️ but like. Hate washing dishes
@@YuriTereshyn I do as well with a bare minimum of 18 place settings a day to wash in my house most days plus any cooking pots and pans. But locally it is also grounds for eviction due to stating in most leases
Fuck em they don’t pay your rent 😂
Does this come with a drying element, or do you need to wait for a long time for dishes to dry?
I knew that voice sounded so familiar... zoom zoom 😁👍
I went to lowes looking for a countertop dishwasher and they had none in stock but they had this beast on clearance for 350$. Took it home. About to do the first wash let's see how it goes
Goodluck!
Lowes may not have an appliance on display on the floor, but they may have it online or catalog. I got a dishwasher from their catalog from the sales person.
I didnt even realize this was you until you turned the camera around. The voice was super familiar
Heh
We got this same exact dishwasher a few days ago, ran it for the first time today. When the cycle was done the reservoir for the detergent was open but the tablet hadn’t dissolved at all. Any tips on fixing that? Have you run into this issue?
It’s because you had something blocking that door from opening mid cycle. When you opened the door it was able to open freely. Make sure it’s only small forks and stuff in front of that detergent door
hey how does the silverware tray sit in yours? i just purchased the exact same dishwasher. dose it sit in there all loose , i can’t figure it out , if that makes sense?
looking up Dishwater reviews and didn't realize I was watching Yuri until I saw him on screen...was like "man, I recognize that voice from somewhere...."
I just got my GE PORTABLE dishwasher and I have a terrible time pulling the hose out and near impossible to get back in. They replaced the hose but no improvement. Is this normal? It does clean well.
What about a drying cycle? We just got one of these washers and can’t see where it is drying the dishes very well.
That's so cool. Expensive though , but when u ain't got a dishwasher it's worth it!! Lol 😂
I just ordered this thing from PC. Richard. Same color. Looking forward to having a dishwasher again. I doubt I'll get 30 years like my old Whirlpool portable. Lol
I just bought the most recent one. Find the attachment a pain to hook up to the faucet. Worried the faucet will break over time.
@@stockpilethomas7900 It should be fine. Don’t think you need to worry.
@@stockpilethomas7900I've been using a portable washing machine for a couple of years and no problems with the faucet where I hook it up.
Great review! Where did you buy it?
Home Depot maybe
You rinsed the coffee grounds off that dish and put it back in for the final scene 😂🤣. I haven’t seen one of these since our neighbors had one in the early 1970s, but it was super loud and not as good as this one. Even though you had hot water going into it, does it heat the water up even further on its own?
Ya it must. This stuff comes out steamy
Did you buy this dishwasher directly from GE because I want to buy the same one
Is it possible to have a link for the tip which is compatible with the cables of the dishwasher ?
I wonder if there is a really long hose you could buy for that..
awesome no-nonsese review
it's just a regular dishwasher with a weight in the back do it don't tip over, people give away perfectly good dishwashers when they upgrade.
I just purchased a dishwasher I’m assuming it’ll be portable or you can hook it up it’s an 18 inch… But it has all of these warnings in the manual basically telling me to get it set up by somebody professional and I contacted the company and they said the same thing and I really don’t wanna have to do that like I think that’s not very necessary but it’s constantly warning in the manual about electric shock, fire etc. etc. did you have the same thing in your manual?
Get the tap water hot first . It helps
¿does it work also with normal tempretature water? I mean does it clean as good as with hot water?
How do you deal with the fact that it does not dry dishes the way older machines did? Personally, I'm in mourning for dry dishes.
For that reason I’m returning mine after a week it’s ridiculous. Going with whirlpool.
The reason why the coffee grinds were there is because the water sits on the top rack on the turned down side of the glasses. If you would have emptied the bottom rack first they would not have been there. I have been using a portable for years so I know how it happens! I do want to ask if this machine has a drying cycle? I know you put it on the shorter cycle. Is there a drying cycle? Or is it designed to sit and dry on it's own? I am just researching for when my baby needs to be replaced. (I love mine had it for years!!! It is a much older model)
I just ordered the same machine and I hear there is no heated drying.
I have this. Not even 3 months. Have drain issues tonight. Took a quick look, nothing seems to be stuck from inside. It's under warranty, so will give service a call see if they want me to do more investigation. Been using dishwasher for 20+ years. I know how to load clean plates.
Ah bummer
Did you have to get an adapter for this dishwasher? We just bought one from GE and the power cord is only about 3 feet long and the hoses are 6 inches. We were told we had to buy additional parts to make it work.
Oh shit I heard in Canada all appliances come with proper chords but not in the states or something
This is so interesting. Since the faucet is open the entire time, is the water running for 48 minutes? I hope not as I thought dishwashing saves more water than manually washing dishes and it seems like one could wash that amount of dishes with the faucet open for about 10 mins
Naw doesn’t use water the whole time. It has a built in stop or whatever
What's the hrsprss and toque?
Enough to get dishes cleaned but not upset the neighbours
Could you extend the adapter in a way? Being able to have additional tubing with the sink adapter that can run to the dishwasher.
Maybe
Hey anyway to extend that hose?
What store did you find it at? If I can get it at $749 or whatever rather than $1000 that would be amazing
Do the downstairs neighbors hate when you roll it around?
Thanks I need it. It works for me what the difference between boost and none boost can you air dry the only is my old dishwasher had air dry which I miss that's the only complaint I have with this model still a great Machine
I'm Yuri, and I'm going for a cycle!
Hi we’re you got this and how u got discount price
Wish portable washing machines were this well designed with the faucet adapter. Too many tenants flooding apartments with the janky solutions.
I always run it and keep an eye on cause I’m paranoid
I want one but it looks like that would be pretty heavy to haul in a 2nd floor apartment through the stairs even with a dolly.
Box test!
How do you use the clean cycle?
I can't wash Tupperware because the tines are too short and they won't stay in position. I give it 3 stars.
