- Canadian Mounties made a historic ride down the Mall today as they acted as the Queen's personal bodyguard. In the run-up to the Diamond Jubilee, the Commonwealth personnel received a special invitation from Her Majesty and have been trained by the Household Cavalry. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police took part in the 11 o'clock Changing of the Queen's Life Guard ceremony with the Household Cavalry.

Canadians aren't foreign, they will forever remains our brothers and sisters
@If it ain't woke, don't fix it CANZUK is coming :)
@David Williams we know...shameful isnt it?
@David Williamskiwis and oz are part of CW brotherhood so yeah nah think again.
brothers and sisters from a other mother hehehehehe
@Adolf Hitler British law provides that Commonwealth and Irish citizens are not foreign, and can vote and stand for public office, so as far as the UK is concerned that is the beginning and the end of the matter.
They’re not foreign, they are of British blood just like us.
@@j.4354 Who by the benevolent mercy of his most Britannic Majesty said people were permitted to remain in Lower Canada after their parent nation was defeated ('cept the Acadians 'cause they said rude things about his Majesty).
Lol I'm native American and your sayin these Brits aren't foreign? Lol good one
Exactly. They are not foreigners in Britain, they are foreigners in Canada because real Canadians are the native indigenous tribes
Not all of us
@@ShadeRaven222I’m also native and I say they aren’t foreign
Foreign? She is the Queen of Canada, so her 'own' mounties cannot be foreign...
I was about to state the same thing. All member states of the Commonwealth of Nations do not consider themselves "foreign" to one another. This is why there is no Canadian Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
My family been here thousands of years and "the fat greedy grandmother is NOT MY QUEEN" respect these nuts amd stay silent
B rye Cuda Clearly haven’t been here for more than 5 years , your English is terrible. The indigenous British and her commonwealth love our Queen. For Queen And Country. You should leave the UK if that’s the case we need less of you ruining our beautiful country
@@raspytv6684 its because he speaks french in Canada, not english
@@ShadeRaven222 Except thousands of years ago there wasn't a country called Canada and you're living in the 21st century Canada when you travel abroad you use the Canadian passport and when your community takes in any welfare money or subsidies from the Canadian government that money bears the head of the Queen. You're welcome to not take any of that money if she offends you so much. And for the record your people aren't native to Canada as your ancestor have migrated from the Asia continent. If you have any spine go tell China that their country is your land.
God bless our Canadian brothers and sisters 🇬🇧🇨🇦
The Canadian mounties uniform is just amazing
They are based on Commonwealth and British Calvary uniforms. The Lord Strathconas (now a Tank Regiment) use to don a red Serge also.
RCMP aren't foreign, and I hope they never will be
Wow, okay, this is really cool and touching. The last thing I expected to find in the comments were dozens and dozens of people defending the Canadians and calling them their brothers and sisters, not foreigners. I'm American, so I'm actually a foreigner, but this warms my heart to see the bond the Commonwealth countries share.
Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Britain are like siblings. Americans are our first cousins, which makes them family too.
I would like to tell you something. In 1977, when I arrived in UK, the customs officer look at my Canadian passport and told me : Welcome Home. It is the feeling that I had when I was in UK. It is my home like Canada is my home too. We are a kind of brothers and sisters even if we live in two different countries separated by an ocean. The members of the RCMP represent well the king of special bond between Canada and UK.
If i were a Canadian i would be so very proud of the mounties, they serve their country and our Queen with honour.
Foreign? Canadians aren't foreigners: Canadians are Commonwealth; they're 'us'.
So does that mean India and Zimbabwe are part of Britain too like Canada is?
@@JustANervousWreck Yes, and no, yes they are part of our 'Commonwealth Family', but they do not have HM as Head-of-State, so they are not 'us' as such. This is from the point-of-view of a New Zealander.
@@JustANervousWreck No
@@atfjacknz Yep spot on. CANZUK countries are a pretty close-knit quad. We're not really foreign to eachother.
The Commonwealth as a whole, the bond between the Commonwealth Realms, CANZUK in particular, and our shared history are concepts that yanks will never fully understand, if at all. I simply describe it to them as being a family; indicating the "traits" of each member, if so required.
The RCMP travelelled all that way to do this for us. And yet they thank us for allowing this. No thank YOU for coming to this for us. It was our privilege to have you. Fantastic and I bet the crowds absolutely loved it. The RCMP are just as famous in their own right and everyone loves the Mounties. You guys aren't foreign, your our brothers and sister.
you made me choke on pride...as a Canadian...thank you for your statement, i have always been a loyalist, because our Queen has always showed respect to Canada.
Well Said,Cypher. The Maple Leaf Forever🏴🇨🇦🇬🇧
I have always had a great regard for the Canadians.
CANADA FOREIGN NEVER........... THEY ARE BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Oh my goodness, please get your facts straight, woman! Her Majesty is the Queen of Canada as well, therefore the RCMP are commonwealth units, not Foreign units.
This Cree man says nay. They are foreign all of them red coats and there fat greedy queen. Barrack Obama said it best. "If your not native American your from somewhere else."
@@ShadeRaven222 Native Americans migrated across the Bering straits from Asia. Just saying.... We're all Africans
I have to say the RCMP looked fantastic. Very smart and every bit the part. I bet it was a real treat for the spectators to see something different. Well done....
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Proud to be Canadian 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
England is our father... God save the Queen. I hope the Commonwealth stays united forever
Great to see the RCMP involved. Looks like they did Canada proud. Congrats.
Wonderful!
God save the Queen.
God bless the Canadian Mounties !
An exceptional honour as part of the Commonwealth family, hope they enjoyed their stay in the UK and have favourable impressions.
We had a Canadian Army Cadet unit at our camp and found them to be a great bunch and they enjoyed their trip in UK.
They are not a Foreign unit they are a Commonwealth unit you silly woman.
having a woman represent Canada through our RCMP...makes me as a man so proud to be a Canadian...god bless our Queen as well.
Canada will never be foreign. Never ever. I salute the RCMP. Well done guys.
True, an unfortunate choice of words, she should have said British rather than foreign, of which The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are not. I would have loved to have been down in London to see them do a Mount of The Guard, an honour for them, for Canada, for The Commonwealth, and for us as Brits.
Looking good there guys
The best uniform ever .best regards to our friends in canada
Canada forever subjects of Her Majesty!
Canada are one of our best and most trusted friends
@Tea N Biscuits Wow! Why so serious and aggressive?
@Tea N Biscuits weeman?
@Tea N Biscuits Hmm, I assume you're Scottish then? And actually I'm an older man, 100Kg and 192cm tall. Not weeman. More like a bigman.
Nothing more impressive than a musical ride and charge.
I’m Canadian and it was so nice to see how many British also take the same view we aren’t foreigners per say. It’s sad to see our current leaders lack of drive for CANZUK I’m glad ANZUK part is starting talks but hopefully soon we get someone in who cares. And we have a few prominent politicians in favour of CANZUK. But we can’t forget the people of PNG, Jamaica and many other nations who stand by us with our glorious queen!
A huge challenge for the Canadians to adopt new horses, riding techniques, protocol and all of the new duties and procedures for this short stint of work. Great respect to our wonderful allies!
I had the opportunity to see the RCMP performing this duty, they performed well and with style. I can't blame them for smiling either. It might have been interesting to see them performing the ceremony of the keys at the tower of London
i regard to ww2 people say it was USA and Ruskies who beat Hitler and japan...but it was Canada UK and the commonwealth that put Hitler and Japan in the position to be defeated.
Canada has always been the first to show up, on our shores for the finals...always grinning & up for adventure.
Always a lovely spectacle to see Commonwealth forces on the Mall, particularly the Canadians. Hope it continues well into the future.
what they should do next is have Canadian Grenadier Gurads there along with the British Grenadiers. Hard to tell them apart other than the rifles they carry.
We have the same uniform, grenade flash, bear skin, and regiment flag/quick march.
Back from the future C....
There used to be actually 6 Btns!! of The Canadian Guards, raised in the early 53.....Guess what? old Trudeau disbanded the the whole lot. The last Regular Btn gutted in 1970. Their Plume was white over red.
Don't get me going........ As you can imagine.....They were spectacular!
I would have loved to see them at Horse Guards...Now there are just two reserve Btns left.
The Governor General's Foot guards (former 5th Btn) at Ottawa and the Canadian Grenadier Guards,(former 6th Btn) at Montreal.
Cheers and Merry Christmas Blighty, 2019.🍻🍁
Great to see them taking the reins (pardon the pun). Our Canadian cousins as awesome as usual ❤️
The RCMP is a paramilitary force. They served in two world wars and many more armed conflicts as well being a police service across all levels of government in Canada.
Oh wow! best uniform in the world!
Well the UK is a foreing country, but her majesty surely is not a foreing Queen. We mearly guarded our queen abroad.
i really have big respect to RCMP because they have big respect to the queen and by doing this to honor the queen! i salute the RCMP! this show how great relation Canada with the queen!
Haha, I winced at the same point ...... Yes, Canada is not 'foreign' ....
While everyone is so focused on "first foreign", the comment section apparently missed the "first and only non-military unit", which is far more impressive, I think. To be called upon to guard a head of state is one of the few things that is reserved to the military in almost all countries. It's a testiment to both history and current conduct of the RCMP that a police unit gets that honor, if even for a day.
Canadians are our true brothers after all.
God save the Queen. From a Loyal Australian
Great respect for each other 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Commonwealth countries are not considered foreign countries
The Mounties have some very cool uniforms.
I think Canzuk would be good for all our country's, together we would be stronger
I absolutely loved that. Theyre not 'foreign' by the way they are the 'Royal' CMP.
She said "non-military".
The RCMP has done it before, but I assume the distinction is because Canada wasn't fully independent at that time.
That might also be the reason why the case you mention wasn't included.
In the UK we have the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It means that the Commonwealth nations aren’t considered foreigners.
The Canadians are our mates.
RCMP non-military?
they need to look up who fought for the British Empire in the Boer War. Also our unifomrs are similar to other Dragoon Reigments i.e Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadian/Armoured)
CIIR
The RCMP is sort of a odd one. It is a mix of military and police (not MP’s). Also, when the RCMP was formed, it was technically a military unit taking on a civilian policing job.
@@coledavis5212
The RCMP are a Dragoon Regt. with a Guidon with 5 Battle Honours.''North West Canada 1885'', ''South Africa 1900-1902'', ''France & Flanders 1918'',Siberia 1918-1919'' and ''Europe 1939-1945', where they were employed as Red Caps...(MP).....Just don't tell anyone.
Calvary unit. The Strathcona's used to wear a red Serge as that is traditional for British Calvary units. Why the RCMP wear it.
@@coledavis5212 they were Calvary hence the red serge.
CANADA, If England and America had a Baby and left it in the Snow! (Jon Oliver).
And raised by bears.
America or France?
Five RCMP will lead the late Queen Elizabeth's funeral procession on Monday. Quite befitting considering their longstanding ties to the Monarchy.
A great tribute.
The only thing that spoiled this clip for me was the appearance of Gordon Campbell. He was at the time Canada's High Commissioner. He was removed in disgrace. He was in my opinion sleazy before he was appointed.
The Mounties were wonderful.
And 'Edward VII, the Queen's grandfather' .... oooops, great-grandfather. But an enjoyable video. Pity about the 2 mistakes.
Remember Due North, from the 90s. You had the Mountie solving crimes with his clever wolf-dog...and their friend the scruffy American cop who was a lot less clever than the dog. The Mounties look good at Buck House.
The great British family
The UK Police could learn from this a bit of pride is not a bad thing
1:15 that bear march tho....
So 😎 cool
someone please sack the presenter.
Why may I ask
"Foreign"? Poor choice of words....could have been worse.....she could have "colonial".
Whatever words were used. We love the Canadians.
Colonial was never a dirty word during the colonial era - it never implied a lesser status. It's only post-modern 1960s revisionist academics who want to tear down the pillars of the West who managed to attach negative connotations.

May I point out that they aren’t wearing Stetsons, they’re wearing what are called campaign covers.

interesting, the Canadians drill the way I was trained. They dont cow Kick doing their footdrill.
Yep, bend the knee, drive it in.

@@pjmoseley243 Same with mine when I was JLRRA (Artillery). Our drill Sgt major was a Coldstream Guardsman. 👍
@@eddabbs8690 JL RASC here ED, so why have the guards drill fallen to such a poor standard all this cow kicking as my CSM called it?
@@pjmoseley243 good question buddy. I'm also ex Kings Troop RHA and can only speak for us, and the Horse Guards (life guards / blue and royals). We used to relieve them at horse guards for 3 weeks of the year, and can say, in their defence, that their ceremonial riding boots aren't conducive to foot drill. Our riding boots end before the knee and therefore don't interfere with the "bend the knee..." formula.
As for the rest, I cant really speak for except that the bar in all things military has been lowered. Of that there is no doubt. Good talking to you fella. Take care 😊
Foriegn? They are literally redcoats...
Canadians aren’t foreign.
Foreign Unit???? The Mounties are Canadian and not foreign

when they say Foreign, it's about the country not te history.
I love reminding Canadians that they subjects to her Majesty the Queen of Canada😂
Non military??
You have shown your true form.
It is atrocious.
Nice to see these Frenchs protecting the british queen...
Sloppy presenting. Maj is guarded by women when the King's Troop take over holiday duties in August each year. And why should she not want to be guarded by women - they sail in her ships, fly her planes and helicopters, and fight in her army, and the female medics are certainly in the front line. We may have only had the vote for 84 years but Aethelflaed was leading her army to help out her old dad Alfred 9 centuries ago. Silly presenter.

More of my tax dollars pi$$ed away and to pay them that kind of salary. You know, there are Canadians trying to make ends meet.
@@BG15138 The whole world is struggling to make ends meet because governments are all the inefficient same and therefore taxing people to death. If we live in a democracy, why not put it to a vote. Put it to a vote on-line. If I can bank on-line, I can vote on-line.
@@BG15138 For many reasons. It is a free country allowing free speech, one would think. As for the RCMP, talk about a bunch of overpaid government employees. Look at their training schedule. See what they are paid while on it. Then look at their salary after 26 weeks, then at 1, 2 and then 3 years. And why need them for someone as useless as the queen or some royal. But if you have British ties, I can understand being brain washed. Oh, by the way, the RCMP always gets their man. Look at that poor immigrant at Vancouver airport who got tasered within 20 seconds of meeting him. No talk down, no nothing. Clowns at best. They never disclosed what that lawsuit costed us. I would have fired them. They also lied during the inquiry. And one of them also killed a motorcyclist while they were driving DUI months earlier. Yeah, real winners!
Welldone Canada, really great to see you 👍👍
