  • Canadian Mounties made a historic ride down the Mall today as they acted as the Queen's personal bodyguard. In the run-up to the Diamond Jubilee, the Commonwealth personnel received a special invitation from Her Majesty and have been trained by the Household Cavalry. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police took part in the 11 o'clock Changing of the Queen's Life Guard ceremony with the Household Cavalry.

Sloppy presenting. Maj is guarded by women when the King's Troop take over holiday duties in August each year. And why should she not want to be guarded by women - they sail in her ships, fly her planes and helicopters, and fight in her army, and the female medics are certainly in the front line. We may have only had the vote for 84 years but Aethelflaed was leading her army to help out her old dad Alfred 9 centuries ago. Silly presenter.

More of my tax dollars pi$$ed away and to pay them that kind of salary. You know, there are Canadians trying to make ends meet.

@@BG15138 The whole world is struggling to make ends meet because governments are all the inefficient same and therefore taxing people to death. If we live in a democracy, why not put it to a vote. Put it to a vote on-line. If I can bank on-line, I can vote on-line.

@@BG15138 For many reasons. It is a free country allowing free speech, one would think. As for the RCMP, talk about a bunch of overpaid government employees. Look at their training schedule. See what they are paid while on it. Then look at their salary after 26 weeks, then at 1, 2 and then 3 years. And why need them for someone as useless as the queen or some royal. But if you have British ties, I can understand being brain washed. Oh, by the way, the RCMP always gets their man. Look at that poor immigrant at Vancouver airport who got tasered within 20 seconds of meeting him. No talk down, no nothing. Clowns at best. They never disclosed what that lawsuit costed us. I would have fired them. They also lied during the inquiry. And one of them also killed a motorcyclist while they were driving DUI months earlier. Yeah, real winners!
