- At the age of 68, Pat Gallant-Charette attempted a solo crossing of Cook Strait in New Zealand. After swimming for over 12 hours and a few miles from the finish line, her boat pilot stopped her swim due to adverse conditions. Her dream was to swim across Cook Strait.
