The best part of the flight was that there was a citywide scavenger hunt to find that door. Pretty much every street and park in Portland in the flight path had a few people looking. There was even a few kids and dads with metal detectors! It was great fun. It was eventually found by a high school physics teacher in his backyard.
how is it that the wildest stories always happen to the physics teachers?
Yeah, unfortunately all Boeing 737 MAX 9 got grounded because of this incident.
Edit: to all the people that say that unfortunate is the wrong word, I’m saying it because this aircraft has already been grounded before and because it’s a nice plane.

Think I heard that many boeings of the same make or in the same area were recently checked and a majority or close to a majority had missing or loose door parts, which was the cause of this incident

The people closest to the door probably panicked when it popped off lol. They probably just calmed down as soon as they realized everything would be fine.
I guarantee there was a lot of panic when the door first came off. This footage was after some time and everyone had a chance to settle.
As an Indian I am shocked and surprised to find out there is fuel shortage in India 😂.

There was a fuel shortage when truck transporters were on strike nationwide. Petrol pumps in some parts went dry for a day.
Thank God that the strike was called off next day.

When strike called off even after that, for next 2 days petrol were rationed and capped at 200 rs for 2 wheelers and 500 rs for cars per day.
That bird worked so hard to open that pack of sugar, and when they payoff was there, the hooman dumped it in his drink. That indignant squawk at that moment was everything for me.
he just wanted the paper, my old bird did that on everything, then she put it into her wings and flew off to build a nest. Then all the papers fell out during flight and she never got anywhere...

I read somewhere that the person sitting at the panel got his jacket sucked off. The seatbelt saved the persons life when the panel blew and the pressure equalized.

Bit of an update to that plane video, it wasn't a door that blew out, but instead a "Door Plug" In smaller aircraft the spot where that 'door' is, is optional so most companies (in this case Boeing) opt to just use a plug to close the gap, it's recently been found that several other planes that have these plugs have loose bolts, and that's what allowed the door plug to pop out. Luckily, the two seats that the door was at were unoccupied, it is rumored that the people that would've been sitting there missed their flight.
Boeing is under a lot of (deserved) scrutiny right now, cutting corners in the air industry costs lives. All of the 737 Max 9 (The plane in this incident) are grounded until they can be inspected.
While they have found loose bolts on other planes, they don't know yet what caused the failure. The failure mode suggests that other bolts were missing altogether.
@@HotelPapa100 I saw Blancolirio's report and there were bolts that were obviously loose, but they haven't found the other side of that fitting. They suspect those were missing completely.
You’re almost correct, all of that model plane have the option of more seats and if you have more seats then you need the door plug removed and replaced with a real door to meet the regulation of sufficient exits for the number of passengers. I think the rumour that passengers missed their flight is wrong, when they descended to 10,000 feet the passengers were removed, this is not fact, this is my opinion.
Sorry, thought I'd just jump in here. In higher density aircraft configurations of the 737-MAX9 aircraft (not necessarily smaller or larger aircraft), an additional emergency exit is required to ensure everyone can evacuate in an emergency.
In lower density configurations such as the one on the Alaskan 737-MAX9 involved in the incident, this door is not required. As such, it is made inoperative and "plugged" shut, but the door frame is not removed. Cladding on the inside of the plane is often placed over the plug door, so from the inside you may not even notice it's there.
This is what happens when your prioritize DEl instead of hiring the best qualified candidates.

One of the crazy parts about that story is that the door was found in a tree by one of the people who had known about the story but not where it occurred. He was told by a friend to check his backyard because the flight had been nearby and he actually found it
So many different stories of where the door plug was found.

What may seem like a miserable piece of tech to you is a way for someone with a disability to regain their autonomy.

Actually there was fuel shortage but only for a day in Hyderabad city but not all around India. Also I’m pretty sure it was only this guy who rode horse to deliver and even got some reward from the company as well!
There is fuel shortage everywhere because of the truck driver protest. People panic brought fuel in a large quantity and there were no truck drivers to refuel the petrol pumps.

I heard about the plane door a few days ago, I’m still in absolute shock that something like that could happen. massive props to the pilots for landing the plane safely!
I think that plane uses jet engines. They wouldn't have any need for props, massive or not.
any pilot can land a plane without a door - it would barely change any flight characteristics, if at all, except for the need to wear a mask above 3000 feet. Meh... no props given because no 'special skill' above standard pilot skills required.

I was in Sri Lanka in Oct 2023 and they had a fuel shortage then too. The lines for the petrol stations were miles long, like it was at least a 5 minute drive along the queue until we got to the petrol station. So crazy! We are very lucky to live where we are.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE FLYING, but I was stationed in Germany, so I did it a lot. The worst flight was when I was in Iraq. You have to take a Black Hawk to get to the main airport to fly back to the States for your 1 week of leave. I was shaking in my boots just knowing I was about to climb in that thing. We took off, and halfway up, the pilot had to do evasive maneuvers to dodge an rpg and the PHUKIN DOOR ON THE BLACK HAWK CAME FLYING OPEN!!!!!! Needless to say, I was a bit FREAKED OUT!!!! I made it to the airport, though, and spent my whole leave thinking about how when I flew back, I would once again be on a DAMN HELICOPTER!!!! Now that I'm out of the Army I will NEVER get on another thing that flies.

I used to be a flight attendant and one problem we had was getting people to buckle their seatbelts prior to take off and prior to landing. This will set a short-term precedent and people will follow the rules briefly and then eventually go back to their routine of not paying attention or following direction.
Were people simply oblivious? Did you ever have defiant ones? I always keep my belt loosely fastened to handle turbulence (or doors popping off).
@@mkvv5687 Some were oblivious, but many wanted to be the rebel and had the demeanor of not wanting to be told what to do. Jesse Jackson was on a flight and before take off was told politely to put his tray table up. He sat there for 1 minute with his hands on the table and ignored the FA.
He eventually gave in. Another FA said he does that all of the time and is looking to start a conflict. if belts aren't fastened and tray tables aren't up the plane can't move.

@@miriam796 It sounds like the sea lion was at their cookout. That's puts both the cookout folks and the sea lion in danger, especially when there's food and fire involved. Them pushing the sea lion in a chair to the shore wouldn't do any harm compared to if they'd shoved it straight into the water.

So from working at a pizza parlor, I can tell you that the pizza you get in the store can be different from the pizza you get on delivery for the reason that the store pizza doesn't have to fit in a box. Since they measure the dough out the night before and proof it in the walk-in, the dough ball is the same size for every pizza of the same size. So the store pie will generally be thinner than the one you get in a box. In general, I prefer the thinner crust store pie. So that video actually made perfect sense to me, and I wouldn't have any problem if that was done to my order.
It might also be a way of fitting a 16" pie in a 14" box. Either way, it's better than having super-thick dough.

@@Lonewolf- buddy it was a publicity stunt by the guy. The truckers protest did not last long enough for this to happen all around India, the wording used by the narrator here indicates that this was happening all over india and that is not the case.
