Barry Sanders to me is the best running back ever to play. He chose to leave football at the top of his game because he didn't care about setting the NFL record for most yards that Emmitt smith ended up getting. Barry already had the most yards per carry despite playing on arguably the worst team and the worst managed team in football, behind the worst offensive line in football. Everybody knew where the ball was going, and yet they couldn't stop him.

Human evolution takes place over hundreds of years. Guys are not “better now”, the equipment and coaching/training has evolved and that makes the players “better”. If you took guys from 20-30 years ago and gave them access to the same equipment and training there wouldn’t be much difference in performance. One thing I would add tho is players from the past played hard with a lot of passion for the love of the game. Contracts were a fraction of what they are now. Todays guys don’t play all out, they’re afraid of getting hurt and loosing their contracts, and they’re not afraid to loose games by sitting out “resting”. If guys would play with today’s technology and the pasts passion then we would have some good games to watch.

Lol, there will never be any RB better than 20. You have no idea what we were treated to every week back then. We got to watch Walter, Emmit, Thurman, Marshall Faulk, Marcus, ED, Bo, and Barry. Every week for over a decade, son. Barry was on a completely different level from everyone.
The closest you can get to Barry right now is probably Tyreek Hill. But Reek doesn't have Barry's vision or his burst. No one does. Or ever will.
