The most dangerous thing about these dogs (and similar breeds) is that their puppies look like the cutest little plush toys. Unfortunately these cute plushies grow into huge bears.
Also mom really won't like you. We have one in our neighbourhood and she would "attack" all male dogs whenever my puppy was around. Very very protective.
@@user-zc6ug3qh3z what I meant by that was more along the lines of people being stupid. Getting the cute puppy. Then not training them properly because they aren't the easiest to train. Never doing any research into the temperament and purpose of the dog. And then ending up with a giant uncontrollable dog that has strong guardian instincts. Goes for other breeds too (pitties, hunting dogs etc). Now, dont get me wrong. They are amazing and wonderful dogs. But they can be extremely dangerous. And unfortunately many people don't think and just go with cute and adorable
@@mitchellread7692 that is part of the problem I meant. People get them because they are adorable little teddy bears as puppies. But then they grow into giant bears that can be dangerous if not trained properly. The bite force becomes an issue then because the dog can't always be controlled
i can attest to this- my grandma got one as a house dog from ab 6 months of age. took him less than 2 months to maul my husky over a bone, plus he humped the shit out of her male rott-lab all the time which she hated lol. took him to the humane society after he started getting aggressive. i hope he found a big farm to run around on, these dogs are bred to guard and be outside.
My girl is an Anatolian Shepard, and she is like no other dog I've ever had before! She was an owner surrender, and I've had to work hard to get her anxiety under control. She is fascinating, and incredibly intelligent! She's my love!
I had an Anatolian Shepard/Boxer-sharpei mix named Murphy. To be fair, I was TOLD the father was Anatolian, but I never got dna checked. Murphy was about 85 lbs, short red brown coat with a white chest. He had a shepard face, not the stumpy boxer face. Had the body of a boxer, but super bulky. Now the best part...Murphy was incredibly squishy. He had the skin of a char-pei, but not the wrinkles. Its like his skin was made out of elastic. Aaaaand he was an absolute goofball dog. Not a mean thing about him. Luckily, he had the temperament of the boxer part of him. I miss that pooch. There will never be another dog like him.
The elastic skin could be from the anatolian. They have relatively loose skin (especially around the neck) which is useful when a predator tries to hold on to them
omg I just met my first Anatolian Shepherd a couple weeks ago! Hadn't ever heard of them before. Torq was the cuddliest boy I've sat so far. He's 11 and has arthritis but was just so big and loving. I hope I get to sit him again he was so sweet. UPDATE: I get to sit Torq again!! I can't wait to give that giant head some good scritches ☺
That's a great mix. Our giant Bear is a Great Pyrenees. Hes only right over 1 year but already over 125 pounds. He will probably end up 140 to 150 pounds I'm guessing. He's already big enough though. Super strong
Mine has the sturdiest and most reliable temperament that I have ever observed in a dog. The most gentle and patient with small children and young livestock. Very interested in causing problems with stranger though.
I have a female runt Anatolian we struggle to keep her up to 80 pounds. She looks more like a grey hound in body. she is also timid, so not all Anatolians match the breed standard.
They were apparently different breeds then officially made one breed at some point. My Anatolian does not have Kangal features of weight and a block head. She has a bit longer hair, but just as protective as her ancestors.
I have one, but it's a long hair.. It's long and tall, but has a lighter and more lithe body type. I'm convinced the American breeds are different from the Turkish Kangal.
My dog Dingo R.I.P he was half husky and annotolli, he he had baby blue eyes was gentle with women and children and made beautiful women fall in love with him😅 he was accustomed to being called beautiful by them and everybody, he had the best of both breeds! He wasn't as big as a full breed anatolli but he did take up space! One girl told me that it looked like I was walking a tiger from affar😮😅 he was pretty tough and agile, but I tell you I was at time jealous of his looks, IV seen him basically making out with two gorgeous foreign women in bikinis😂 I do wanted to switch bodies with him at the time😅😂 he was so awesomeness I miss him always 😢❤
I have a 1 yr old anatolian & have had him since he was 2 months....trust me when I say they are STUBBORN 😂 you can train them all you want but they'll only take in what they want to! Very independent strong dogs tho,I love mine ❤
Dna test showed the dogs have roots that go all the way as far as Mongolia, this matches perfectly with the gradual migration of nomadic turks migrating from the east(mongolian gokturks) into turkey during the 11th century. The book of job sets place in or near Turkey during the 4th-7th century. Too old to be these dogs. Try another breed. Try the Akbash which is an even older turkish dog breed with roots in northern Africa/the fertile cresent. Or the Karadeniz shepherd or the Karaman shepherd that have possible greek origin from when anatolia was home of the greeks before the seljuk turks took over.
Kangal is the best (If you can find the real one) also Turks brought them with Central Asia centuries ago and evolved it so they are not from local Anatolia...

its also that their bite force is 3 times that of a german shepherd

I have 2 of them. Great dogs
I was ten years old and slept every night in my bed with a 170 lb Anatolian. Kindest dog I’ve ever met.
A bit of context, the land that turkey is now is called Anatolia

This is my dog! His name is Teddy and he is very loving and social 😅
Do the Keeshond ❤
My Anatolion Shepard is a great Guardian for me and my Scottish Highland Beef cattle. He's on duty night and day.
I have a female runt Anatolian we struggle to keep her up to 80 pounds. She looks more like a grey hound in body. she is also timid, so not all Anatolians match the breed standard.
Hello, the stone image you showed is related to Iran and the Iranian dog
It’s kind of hard for me to tell the difference between the Anatolian Shepard and the Kangal. They look very similar
They were apparently different breeds then officially made one breed at some point. My Anatolian does not have Kangal features of weight and a block head. She has a bit longer hair, but just as protective as her ancestors.
Anatolian Shepard is just mix of big Turkish dog breeds. Kangal ist just one of them,.
I have one, but it's a long hair.. It's long and tall, but has a lighter and more lithe body type. I'm convinced the American breeds are different from the Turkish Kangal.
My little Anatolian name is nuckles his such a baby
The “Hi I’m gonna ruin your life” text hit hard 😂😂😢

Proceeds to show dogs that are mixes at best lol
Turks brouhgt their dogs with them from Central Asia. Turkish dog breeds are mosly related to Alabai.
These are all Kangals. In the US you guys call them Anatolian Sheppards. Plese look it up.
The dog on the couch is not Anatolian Shepherd it's a freaking Afghan Hound or a borzoi😂
😂

We have akbaş breeds which are local to Anatolia.
