- The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Miami Heat in the Play In Tournament to advance to the NBA Playoffs to take on the New York Knicks who grabbed the two seed in the East on the last day of the NBA season. It's a series with star power between Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Jalen Brunson, great role players like OG Anunoby, Donte Divincnezo, Kelly Oubre, and more. Both teams have dealt with a ton of injuries but are (relatively) healthy coming into this series. Most importantly though, with the winner facing a beat up Milwaukee Bucks team or the Indiana Pacers in the second round and the Boston Celtics on the other side of the bracket, this is a golden opportunity for one of these teams to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in a long time. Ofc they can’t. But what’s different about this year is I’m embiid or maxey is slacking, we got guys, like batum, who can step up. It could be Kelly oubre, buddy hield, cam Payne being a spark, Kyle Lowry playmaking, and ofc batum. This is the most well rounded team the sixers have had in the embiid era. Knicks going to be tough tho 100%

I haven’t seen the video, but the media have made the Knicks look to be some bum team… they’re top 10 on offence and defence. Only Boston and Denver have that too. They have a genuine superstar in jalen Brunson. Philly should be grateful to take this game to 6

🤣🤣 even the many stat narritive is misleading. They are top 5 points allowed #1 in Def/off rebounding and #2 in blocks that actually make them #1 over all. With a top 5.mvp canidate only 2nd in scoring to luka since January. The #2 rebounding gaurd in the league ( most stats don't have heart. When he's had like 640) 😂 #2 in devincinzo only 2nd behind curry in 3s. A top 5 defensive big man 2 of the top ten big men in blocks. And 5 guys shooting 39% from deep or better😂😂.. they are not good they are really good. Yes it says 50 wins. But without injuries this could easily have been a 58 to 62 win team. The league will learn 😂😂
As a sixers fan I am actually quite nervous. Knicks play a very good tough defense and if they keep it consistent, Embiid and Maxey are in for a really difficult series...
Only big plus is that we finally have a good coach who can cook up different plays, so hopefully Nurse's coaching could help out.
Our best case scenario is to win game 1 and that way we shake up the entire series 👌

This will hopefully (if there’s no injury or none of the teams play bad) be a really good series. Knicks play really well and so do the sixers. Not sure who’s going to win this one to be honest. Guess we’ll have to see how the first game plays out tomorrow

I pick the Knicks in 5 or 6. They will struggle offensively because they don't have a reliable option outside Brunson, but their defense and depth will be too much for the Sixers. Embiid stepped up towards the end of the Heat game, but he still struggled overall; the Knicks will be jist as tough, if not, tougher on him. Besides his usual playoff decline and questionable health, he and Maxey will both have to be great in order for the Sixers to have a chance. Speaking of Maxey, how will he fare in his first playoff setting as the second option? Nick Nurse will do his best to put them in the right positions (something the Sixers didn't have before from their coaching), but if they still struggle, they don't have another reliable option as of right now. Maybe Oubre will step up or Tobias Harris will finally start playing like he's worth a damn, but the jury's still out. Melton and Convington have both been ruled out, so there goes two more possibly useful bodies. Overall, the Knicks are basically a (slightly) upgraded version of the Heat, and the Sixers barely survived the actual Heat. For that reason, Knicks will win the series.

Embiid playing hurt is easily going against his toughest matchup in the current East. Hartenstein, and OG matched up well against All NBA bigs like him and Giannis all year. Knicks in 4
It's not really an upset. The 76ers aren't a true 7th seed. If embiid played a majority of the season the 6ers would presumably be a top 4 seed at minimum with a solid chance at being a 2 seed. If and its a big if embiid is healthy which he hasn't shown the ability this seaspn or in past postseasons most people would prolly assume the 6ers to win. Especially against a Knicks squad missing their own 2nd best player

It wouldn’t be an upset… they have a 3 game difference despite Embiid missing half the season. Knicks winning would be a bigger surprise to me.
If joel was totally healthy, then sure. And if the knicks had OG the whole time, then sure.
In reality, embiid is coming off of an injury, and OG has been out but is back. The knicks were dominant with brunson OG and randle, and even though randle is out they are still extremely strong defensively. It will definitely isn’t guarenteed for the sixers, like you’re making it out to be.

This is also maxeys first time being the second option in the playoffs full time and hes probably going to be guarded by og so hes going to struggle a bit. I don’t trust anyone else on the sixers and who on the sixers is going to guard brunson?

That is the usual problem with Embiid come postseason time: how will his physical health hold up? That is part of why he and his team usually underperforms.

I don't see this going to the Knicks. Even with Joel not 100% the combination between him and Maxey is something the Knicks do not have. Joel is going to get around 30ppg and Maxey can easily get 20. Outside of Brunson the Knicks don't have a lethal threat offensively just a few mid guys. On top of that Nick Nurse is a far better coach than Thibodeau. Sixers will win in 6.
