Do you think sneaker mystery boxes are a scam?
No, but they can be.
People who make mystery boxes with no surprises and just basic throwaway items, OR no actual “big win” prize and making every box equal with value, OR going by their stores value on the shoe instead of market price-is a scam.

Joe saying "We're Back" was the perfect crescendo. You all found your flow early and kept things moving at an impressive pace. The convo kept me engaged more than the sneakers. From Welty's hip-hop fits to Joe keeping that same energy and sharing it with us through the Jordans story. He really geeked out back then over sneakers and has been making it happen ever since, consistently leveling up. One day they'll say 'Legend has it' before saying your name. Consistent charisma front runner is Dunne, keep making that magic

Mystery boxes are the biggest scam without them actually being a scam. Every person knows what they’re signing up for when they wanna throw their money away but still got something to complain about when they break even or lose money. There’s no difference between it and gambling. If your living paycheck to paycheck you should avoid mystery boxes. Period.
Yep, and paying crazy prices at these resell shops isn’t much better but people do it
Yeah worst part is when it’s young kids. You wouldn’t let a 10 year old gamble but this is technically “okay” to these dudes
If you're living paycheck to paycheck you shouldn't be buying sneakers
There is a point where a box 📦 has to be a 300 per pair or less to at minimum get your money back
@@maricuchisdelafuente No it doesn't have to break even, its basic economics. If there are prizes above the $300 entry that you can win (eg Travis Scotts worth $1500) then there needs to be prizes under the $300 for the seller just to break even. If every prize was $300 or higher, the seller would literally lose money on every contest. It would make no sense from their standpoint to even host one. People participating simply need to know the risks they're voluntarily signing up for.

Mystery boxes are about the thrill more than an investment. If you purchased a mystery box from your fav artist or designer than it would turn out better than purchasing from randos
They’re talking about mystery boxes from sneaker retailers and resellers. Mystery boxes in general can be great but sneaker mystery boxes are terrible.
I feel like ppl spend 300 and think they gone get a shoe they can double up on the resell market if you spend 300 and get 3 shoes retail at 100 to 120 you broke even

Usually a mystery box was paying let’s say 1k and getting 1.1-1.2k in sneakers back. You always got at least the value back. This other dude just created basically a slot machine for sneakers.

the rule is simple, a huge wants didnt comes cheap
what do u expect from $300 to get a 6-700 worth shoes?
better save your money for another $300 and actually get the shoes that u want
u have to accept hype and hi resell price plays important part of this culture and bussiness, nike need to create hype to keep people buying, by releasing a limited collab shoes people need to be super lucky or pay high resell price to get it otherwise go with differen GR colorway and thats the purpose so people buy the GR as alternative to those hype impossible unreachable collab release and im totally fine with it because i didnt live those hyped live but i still need the hype to keep me interested with this culture and its history

I probably wouldn't be trusted with $50 at that age let alone $300. Even if I had that my parents wouldn't let me spend it on a box.
Maybe if he had $50, $100, $200 boxes that might be better, but they are still a risk although I can't see a way of him saying "you can't enter because you're too young." The only ones that ever win big are the CZcamsrs who get them to drive business.
Love the JJJJounds but quality is not worth resale. You're basically paying for the unique color.
