Mashallah, I've been trained in Islamic studies, and I have listened to 100's of lectures on the Quran, but this is by far the best lecture on the topic I've heard in all my years. Hamduallah for your work brother!

Wow! This is a mind-blowing lecture so interesting! My mind and heart had a thorough workout ... SubhanAllah. I'd to listen to it again so I can get a better understanding of how Allah SWT communicates to us through the miracles of the Quran..looking at different modes of communication. I'd dearly love to learn the Quranic Arabic ...It must be as sweet and wonderful as the honey that I harvested from the Ligurian Bees ... SubhanAllah.
JazakAllahu Khairan Kathira Ustadh Nouman ... You are a star when you look so young! ... Alhamdulillah

I would like to add only one little point to the argument here...
The LINGUISTIC MIRACLE of the Quran is exceptional, no doubt and still requires a lot of exploration, yet it is very very confined to the People who speaks or know the Language (Arabic) It was to "convince" them that the Speech is Divine and it doesn't have any human intervention. Since Allah does NOT demand from people of the world to learn the Language, "at first" and then try to understand the Message...then it is obvious that the Real Miracle is still "the Message" that can make them humble and obedient to One God and can be delivered into the languages people understand already...and this is what has been happening since the time of the Prophet (S) and will be happening till the Qayamat.
Knowing the Arabic Language is an "asset" but not an "Ultimate" requirement to "Accept" the Message", in my opinion.

Terrific lecture historically with a captivating narrative of stories and recounting of events. But its also frustrating. So prior to the Quran the miricales where for the eyes which without question if one where to witness, such as a medically declared dead/a corpse comes back to life or the parting of the Red sea on command eliviates any doubt then and there. In the other instance of the quran, the power of its words was understood by the people of the time on a level equivalent to that of a miricale due to nothing being lost in translation and of course the fact that the messenger was there in the flesh to answer qns if not through words through his actions/presence. Furthermore the issues which constantly nag at the intellect and immediately offend and in more than often lead to defensive attitudes and responses even though are genuine qns asked with the upmost respect and with the intention of eliviating personal doubts to be able to fully appreciate the prophets example where a non issue as the prophet was accessible to all and could put any falsehoods to rest. Issues with slavery, the qn of relations before marriage being a sin but engaging in relations with slaves without their consent and void of marriage be ok, or the age at which it was acceptable for a female to be wed and all it applies. I am sure there is a way to convey the truth of these difficult to accept notions whether it is by discrediting them or properly translating what is written in the books of history if in Arabic etc. It's just close to impossible to ask these qns as the response is usually in the form of anger or dismisiveness which does nothing to strengthen ones Iman.
So ppl like myself and more worrisome for the generation of Muslims to come we are left with no miricales of the eyes, an impossibility of truly connecting with the miricale of the Quran due to the obvious language barriers unless of course you have the capability to fully study and understand the depth of the Arabic language that was used 1400 years ago and the unwillingness for those who are meant to be a source of knowledge such as teachers in a Islamic school or the local shekh or even visiting scholars giving lectures etc addressing concerns or genuine questions without making U feel like you are a non believer for simply asking them. What is exactly left for us? All that has been conveyed which does nothing to help one understand or navigate his journey through these qns is that; "don't worry you get more good deeds than the sahaba for your faith because you struggle to understand the Quran but still believe and you don't have access to the prophet but still love and follow his example. I understand that this is a mercy from Allah but it does not give you the confidence needed or the information needed to have the type of Iman that many of young Muslims seek and wish they had

Forget the bit about the codes in my latest post, I figured out what you are talking about. Of course they were in religions previous, starting with the first human, Adam. As time passed, people of different cultures started to twist the true religion and add polytheism and all that. That's the Islamic version, but I doubt you'll take that as fact.

  • @Skouse
    @Skouse Před 11 lety +1

They oppress them not because of the religion but because of their culture. Anyone can distort anything good to become bad.

A book that says do not fornicate, do not murder, do not backbite etc. sounds more like a book of guidance rather than a book of stories and history. I even addressed a possible question with a Qur'an verse in my previous post. The Qur'an was spread by speech and memorized, but that's amazing in it's own right because the Prophet Muhammad couldn't go back on what he said. Some bits of the Qur'an was written down in his lifetime on bits of bones, leaves etc. YOU should learn Islamic history.

What codes? I didn't mention mention any codes? Uthman Ibn Affan (ra) destroyed other books of Qur'an because people were adding different accents etc. to them. Uthman preserved the Qur'an that was narrated to him by the Prophet Muhammad (saw). The contents of the Qur'an are split between Makkan and Madinan surahs. Ones that were revealed in Makkah and the others in Madinah. Your claim that he didn't know any of the contents is invalid because we have the time they were recorded.

It is clear and concise but people distort it according because of their imperfection. You should know the condition of human because you are human as well. You have imperfections and so do those people who are oppressing you with Islam. I'm honestly sorry that you have to feel this way. There are actually varying opinions on music and dance in Islam. Where I am from, music and dance is not banned by the way. And religious people do listen to music.

  • @Skouse

By the way, the quran is involved in a very strict culture of memorization. The physical book is an attempt to preserve its pristine state. But regardless, there are a great amount of people who learn from teachers that can be linked to the prophet that have perfectly memorized the whole book. If you don't want to believe, that is your own problem. But don't be so low as to not get your facts right.

Qur'an is a book of guidance, not a book of stories. You may say "then why tell the stories of the prophets?". Allah says He narrates these stories to us so that we may reflect upon them. Just because the Qur'an doesn't mention dinosaurs it doesn't mean they didn't exist. There's a thing called reading and using your brain before you comment.

So much for the quran being clear with so many interpretations of it and people killing each other over it. The clear but not clear quran of fairy stories and repeated bible stories. The flat earth and orbiting sun book with talking ants and it's hatred of women.

I have been quoting the fairy story, you just will not accept that it is flawed. You are not allowed to do that. Still looking for those dinosaurs. The source of the quran is now being exposed, you will just not allow this, the errors are like canyons now.

To simplify things is often the best thing to do when someone doesnt understand the reality. I`m so sure that you didnt even bother to listen to the full lecture and that you surely have no clue about islam. You should distinguish between the religion itself and the people practicing it, who very often arent driven by religion but by politics. repeated bible stories? The Quran rejects so many stories of the bible and corrects them. and read some science and learn that ants do in fact communicate

Allah is not a moon god. The pagan Arabs were aware of Allah from the time of Ishmail (as) who was the father of the arabs. However, as time went on they attributed sons and daughters to Allah. They worshipped three primary pagan gods rather than Allah, whom they considered the king, but only worshipped Him directly during times of need. When the elephant army, surah al-fil, was going to destroy makkah, they prayed to Allah directly and He answered. Your claim is invalid.

Mithras Revisited, you are clearly uninformed of valid and accurate facts from reliable and authentic sources. And if you do get your information from reliable and authentic sources, you are interpreting them without taking into account the opinions of knowledgeable scholars and experts of islamic jurisprudence. Never put uninformed opinions forward as facts.
