Yeah agree. Switching English lyrics to Te Reo (or any other language) often doesn't work because it alters the cadence and structure of the original song in ways you can't forsee. But in this case the verse in Maori elevates the song. This was powerful. ❤

Agree 100%. It's very rare to find a male vocalist of this quality in mainstream music today, I do however like Guy Sebastian for his tone, vocal agility and smooth easy listening vibe. I'm glad they're both from down under and that Stan is one of ours, we couldn't be prouder !!! 😊

New Zealand is extremely proud of this talented young man. He has also battled cancer and there is a documentary here on CZcams I think which explains this. Other videos you might be interested in are his original Australian Idol audition from when he was 18 and his cover of Ultralight Beam. It's incredible. His voice is like silk and when he sings in te reo Maori, it just brings tears to my eyes and makes me incredibly proud to be from Aotearoa New Zealand. This beautiful song was originally a Crowded House song, a Kiwi group.
