I got two adult parakeets from a local breeder, I already knew that it would be a lot harder to diet change, and tame them because they were caged the entire time they were there. Iâve had them for a year now and weâve made MAJOR improvements! Theyâve allowed me to be able to pet them, they love perching on my hand, and one of them loves being outside of the cage (the other one is still working on it), theyâve fully diet changed from an all seed diet to the healthiest of pellets, fruits, and veggies, they also now live in a super clean cage (and in the biggest cage I was able to afford). Iâm super proud of them â€â€
Don't touch your bird against their feathers, but only in the same direction their feathers grow. They love to be touched under the chin. Don't touch their back or wings. It's very uncomfortable for them and scary. If you hold their feet to keep them from flying away, be very careful not to press too hard. You can break their bones. A shivering and shaking bird is very terrified. Be very gentle. the lightest touch to us is very heavy to them, and their tiny bones are easily broken. Always move slowly, gently, and surely. Keep the air very clean and pure. Birds can die from air polluted by chemicals from your carpet, etc. Keep their cages very clean. Bird mites are the cause of itching and lost feathers and are highly contagious from one bird to another. . Clean your bird's cage every day and be sure to rinse it well. If the perches get dirty, replace them. Keep all their toys very clean every day too, especially food and water containers. Try to use metal and not plastic. Keep your bird away from drafts. And don't keep them close to the floor, but higher up than cold floor air. This is especially important in winter, or if you lose power. The same goes for overheating. Birds are very sensitive and can die from an open window draft in winter. Be sure to always wash your hands before you touch your bird and keep your nails clean. Birds can pick up colds from us. Don't use any harsh or gritty chemicals like Comet or Mr. Clean. Just use gentle dish soap to clean their things and rinse thoroughly. Birds are very sensitive to chemicals. Avoid keeping their cages in hot sun. Letting them be beside a window is nice, but within view of or near feeders for outside birds is just psychologically cruel to them. Never punish your bird, simply gently move it away or place it in its cage. Like cats and dogs, they have memory only for minute to minute and don't understand good and bad. Moving suddenly towards them, like lurching, or suddenly looming over them is very frightening to them. Birds are triggered by movement above because that is where birds of prey come from to pounce on them. So always keep your hands in their direct view and never come down on them from above. Try to think like your bird, from your bird's point of view. When your bird is out of its cage, don't leave the fridge door open, or the freezer door open. Bad things can happen. Never have a fan with unprotected blades around your bird. Make sure you don't forget your bird is out of its cage when you open or close your outside doors. When you close inside doors, and your bird is out, be sure to check the top of the door before you close it and check the room too. Don't want to lock the little guy up away from food and water! . If your bird is out, always leave the cage door open for access to food and water on demand. Love your birdie and it will love you too.

This is all great advice. Wish more ppl who decide to bring birds home understood many of your suggestions that you shared, as sadly -many do not. Thank you

My bird hates me, but it loves me at the same time. I donât know why, but it eats in front of me preens and play with toys
Same, my bird always eats in front of me, play with his toys and sometimes he sings but the always tremble when he's on my finger. Thats weird
I guess all birds are different. I have two males and they have extremely different personalities; one loves to be around me and the other doesnât, but both love sitting with me. Weird.
same w8th my cockatiel
My two budgies are hand trained and they come to us, but be aware that this is on their terms, not ours. Also I've found they are more likely to be around us in the evenings rather than the daytime.
My experience with budgies has taught me that just because a bird doesn't want to interact or be touched, it does not mean they do not like you. I have owned budgies for many years now, though it is difficult to recall the exact number as it has been such a long time. I originally purchased two budgie chicks from the local pet store. These budgies ended up breeding within my apartment each year, providing me with new batches of baby budgies to care for. In addition to their offspring, the descendants of those original budgies have continued breeding as well.
Over the years living with these budgies, I have observed that most do not enjoy being touched or handled. Some individuals are more tolerant than others, but in general my flock of budgies prefers to not have hands grasping or petting them. This is simply their natural behavior and temperament, not a reflection of how they feel about me as their caretaker. Occasionally one will allow me to briefly hold them on my shoulder, but such interactions are rare. More often if I try to pick them up, they will quickly fly away or even nip at my fingers with their beaks.
When a budgie nips or pecks in response to being held, it is usually a signal that they do not like the way they are being restrained. Budgies are small birds with fragile bones, and they do not feel secure when wrapped tightly in a hand. They prefer to perch on a finger where they have freedom of movement. Their bites are a method of communication to request a style of handling that makes them feel safer and less confined. It is an instinctual reaction, not a sign that the bird is truly aggressive or dislikes their owner as a person.
At other times, a budgie may squawk or scream loudly, which some people interpret as a sign of anger or distress. In my experience, vocalizations are often just the budgies conversing with one another in their flock. Loud squawks could indicate a budgie is playing, exploring, or trying to get the attention of its cagemates. Rather than reflecting negative emotions, the noises are a normal part of how budgies socially interact.
In conclusion, while not all budgies enjoy physical contact, this does not mean they do not feel affection or attachment to their caregiver. Their natural behaviors should not be misunderstood as signs of dislike. With patience and by respecting their small stature and preferences, owners can build trust with their budgies over time.
Whyâd you let the two birds keep breeding?
My birds walk back and forth in front of the door as if to say âlet me out let me out let me outâ itâs pretty funny coz they know if Iâm home they get to be out

I love bird đïž
I got 2 parakeets from a pet store, and was able to get them to eat from my hands under 24 hours (we got them at night so we just made sure they had enough food and water and didn't bother them until the next day). I was also able to get them to come onto my hand within 48 hours. Though getting them to eat vegetables took around 4-5 days (we left only fruits and veggies for about 2 hours with some seeds sprinkled on top to get them interested, and then if they didn't eat any we would replace it with fruit pellets. This channel (Bird nuggets) and 1 other channel (ElleAndTheBirds) were the reason I was able to get them to adapt to their new home so fast. I am forever grateful and thank you for reading
my bird loves me most of the time and hates me sometimesđ
Thanks for all the tips
I'm getting mixed signals from this channel...
My bird loves me, doesn't like me, but cares about me.
1 year with my budgie loving her huge multi branch perch. Never ever caged again. She can fly anywhere in the home. Cover up spots that could be unsafe, like a kitchen sink drain hole. Next to being free outside, she has the second best life
My bird never leaves me alone. Lol. He loves me

That blue bird looks like my budgie that died........he was the best and i just woke up to it đą
He's so cute
My bird always come to greet me when I walk past the cage, and she often fly towards me and land on my shoulder or head. She even seek me out when I sit on the toilet, but she really hate my hand (she will however step up, but not when she's inside her cage). My nose is allowed to pet her though đ
My budgies and my common both love me I give them treats for birds and play with them and feed them I love my birdsâ€â€â€so much
Try putting a phone with rollercoaster POVs on outside their cage. It wont frusterate them like other birds can, simulates flight and has pleasent sounds and music to listen to.
This got our budgie to adore me over his actual owner.
If this isn't in your liked videos playlist, you're missing out.
Do you recommend bird harnesses? Bc I wanna get one for my lil guy but Iâm not sure
My bird paces back and forth on her stick every time I donât answer her 10 billion chirps. So itâs not always a bad thing.

( I would appreciate if u read this comment) So I have a budgie called Rosie that me and my sister share now because my budgie died last year in August because she was sick. None of the doctors close to us treated budgies and we were having a heat wave so we couldnât take her far away because it was way to warm. Her name was Sunny and she used to always hop into my hand always telling Rosie like itâs okay they are friendly and all. But she passed away and now Rosie wants absolutely nothing to do with us. I am convinced that Rosie thought I hurt Sunny. I cried for weeks after she passed away. We think she is lonely but she was always the type of bird that would pick at other birds and things. So we didnât get her a friend cause my mom was scared that Rosie would hurt the other bird. Now I am trying to spend more time with her and make her like me but she is always avoiding me and whenever I need to get something from one side of the cage she waddles to the other. And a few day ago she started shaking her head around and seeds were flying out of her beak. I told my mom and she tried to have a look at her but she kept waddling away. I would love some advice to help me for her to actually come near me. (Sorry for my bad grammar if there is something spelt wrong hope u get it and can figure out what I am saying)
my 2 birds have a cage a small one to take to where were going but we dont bring them sometime bc it got hurt once because once my family grabbed the bird and we got a parrot yesterday now we hsve 3
OK so weâre trying to get my birds used to being outside so they donât fly all around the place
But how long will it take for them to get inside a birdhouse they bought
While my conure loves me, I still like to make sure I'm doing everything right
I wonder, though
Does all of this apply to conures? I know alot of it does, but I wanna know out of reassurance sake
I love my birds but they hate me đą

My husband raised Budgies when he was a teenager and he claimed some of the birds wanted to 'mount' his hands, and always got confused why. it was because he was rubbing their backs... he probably had no clue
I rescued a bird like 2 days ago it only just hatched and it was already thrown off the tree, it was very weak and needed help, so I adopted it
hey bird nugget. Ive got a cockatiel and i had him for 1 year . He lets me scratch his head but bites me if i do something wrong. Can you help?
i came to yt just to type "how to find if your bird i annoyed by you" but looks like it read my mind instead
I don't know I got like 3 or 4 of the first things and something too in the other words, it's like 50 50. It's like one word says your bird is feeling safe and the other word is saying your bird isn't feeling safe
I don't think, that my budgies hate me, but they weren't big fans of the medical treatment, they had to get for the last 7 days. I hate medical treatment, because they won't take medicine on their own most of the time and if I have to catch and give them meds, they are always sceptical of my presence days later. And they like to spit/sneeze meds into my face đ
My vet told me to use a small, soft, thin cloth to catch them, so I still feel the bird in my hand but they don't see the hand (because it is "disguised") and they can't bite me as bad as they used to. It did in fact work. They are still cautious when I'm close to their cage, but they don't freak out anymore when I give them food or a water change.
Yay my bird is nice to me
Bird nuggets i need help. My bird is okay with getting on my finger inside the cage but when its outside it's cage he keeps running away from me. Can you make a video on why this is happening? And what to do to make them not run away?
Help i give my bird millet i play whit it but it still is scared of me i even put a little pool thing for them but she is still scared (she has a friend)

My bird had a another bird friend living with him in his cage (we bought them that way) they loved me and would perch on my hand often, I would hand feed them, and constantly pet them but the first bird came sick, and a few weeks later it died, itâs dead body was in the cage so I took it out, ever since then my bird has been biting me whenever I try to change its food and water, and whenever I get my hand inside his cage. I have a few predictions why this might happen, but Iâm not sure, can anyone help please?

Hi i have a question for y'all.. I'm a budgie owner i have budgies as pets since 3 years and now i have 2 budgies.. few days ago my tamed budgie accidentally flew away i can't stop thinking about him btw now I'm thinking to buy another bird but not a budgie this time.. i want to buy a bird and tame it so should i get a indian young ringneck or a young cockateil? Which one will be easier to tame? And btw I've never had these birds i only had budgies but ik alot about cockateils and ringnecks since i did my research.
Well, they are both easy to tame, they are very social if raised from a chick. I would advise you to spin a wheel on google, because their both quite tame!
What can I do when my bird fly away and hes sitting on the top of tree? Like.. how can I get him down and somehow grab him and také him home? It was accident that little guy fly away.
my bird sadly comes from a previous owner who mistreated him, he has pure panic of hands or even fingers and often panics even at night so I have to turn on the light that he clams down. I don't know if he would ever be tamed or even stops panicking everytime I come too near. I don't know what i should do anymore..
My two budgies love to be with me. In my shoulder or even in my hand.
But my two cockatiels, even if they love singing with me or playing or eating from my hand in the cage, when i take them out of the cage, they are a little scared and they put in the highest place of my living room. Is ok, i dont bother them while they are there, but they never come to me. They only are in that place for a while and then came back to the cage, its been 2 yearsđ.
Iâll admit it Iâm a bad owner I mean I have two birds and their happy but they are like terrified of me Iâve had them for a while and they never really left their cage and I wanna ask if you make a video please of how I could regain their trust
i wanted to ask if anyone can give advice i am thinking of getting a budgie
First of I know they dont like getting hold but I need to do it to give him medicine.Second of what can I do that they like me again ? Pls I need help

Bird nuggets, l bought a 5 months male budgie a week ago, and today I tried to feed him Millet spray, but he doesn't want it and he's too scared to eat seeds from me, what should I do?
Itâs normal for a bird to not eat millet immediately since it doesnât know what itâs is you just have to offer it until it eats. But before you do that you have to get your bird to get used to you

#5 no my bird and me dance pacing back and forth
My bird donât do any of this. They do stuff on demand they do not hide. Theyâre always fluffy, but they do pluck their feathers. They donât look bald But theyâre always fluffy when they I thought you were just preening theyâre probably means standing on the stick. Oh well.âșïžâșïž
Pacing back and forth is my bird's way of letting me know he wants out of his cage to fly around and cause a little trouble. It's not a sign that he doesn't like us. He also does this if we get his big bro that he's obsessed with out of the cage and not him. It's funny. He has to be wherever his bro is.
Pacing back and forth is actually something that comes from a frustration.. my birds never pace and just wait for me to come and open the cage
I feel like if their cage is a fun place to be they will not pace back and forth
But if they can't wait to get out so much that they pace until you open its not something good
