    learned something new! I have been spraying my half coat at half trigger , normal distance/speed. 2nd coat full trigger and speed will depend on what my brain feels like doing, wether it be close and fast, or normal speed/distance. I adjust accordingly to what I see with my eyes. Spies is a very forgiving paint system I would say.

      @@Spieshecker is that how the clear is applied in this video? The first coat with a half trigger? I Struggle with coat and a half as I tend to either end up with a finish that wants to run or is a little too dry

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před rokem

      Hi, when applying the first coat you should use a full trigger but with a closer distance to the object and close the film using a thin closed coat. After that and without flash increase your distance to normal and apply a full finish coat.

    I use spies hecker 8007. If i spray it in a 1+half coat the second full coat tend to copy the first half coat leaving with the bad finish of the first one.
    Also, i notice that if i wait 0 to 2 minutes (as per TDS with the 1 and half process) i get solvent pop and so, i have to wait of a minimum of 10-12 minutes between coats to get a beautiful finish.
    Is this normal with this clear?

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před 2 lety

      Hi and thanks for the question. 8007 is designed to be used in 1.5 coats and should be applied in a thin but closed coat followed immediately by a full finish coat. Having any open/partially closed areas with the first coat can lead to difficulties in achieving a good flow with the final coat. Applying as recommended in combination with the correct hardener and gun set up should produce a good, from the gun finish. Using too fast a hardener for larger jobs or in the wrong conditions could be the cause of the solvent popping you mention.

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před 3 lety

      Providing you choose the correct gun set up and use the correct inlet pressure it is possible to apply our HS clears in 1.5 coats where recommended. Remember though, don't spray the first coat too heavy, thin and closed is the target followed by a full normal coat.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. Maybe the camera does not quite show the subtle differences in the application procedure but the application should be a thin closed coat followed by a full coat at a slightly increased distance to the substrate to produce the finish you are looking for.

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před rokem

      Permasolid HS Clear Coat 8330 is a product developed for use on commercial vehiles. You do not mention which hardener you are using but given you specify a 3:1 mix ratio I assume it wiould be VHS hardener? This being so you need to add 10 - 15% of a recommendee reducer to achieve the correct ready for use viscosity. Using the clear without thinner means a far too high RFU viscosity leading to the problem (and others) that you describe. Please refer to the TDS for this clear coat for further information sdstds.shcolor.info/Doc/TDS/EN/EN%208330N.pdf

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před rokem

      Hi thanks again for your question. Commercial vehicles are Trucks, Busses, Trailers, etc. So 8330 is actual developed for larger surfaces, meeting the needs and demands of bodyshops repairing commercial vehicles (CV).

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před 3 lety

      Prior to the clearcoat application try the fan on a piece of masking paper to get the optimal fan-shape. Indeed, sometimes, but no always, the side-pressure on Iwata supernova have to be reduced a little bit to avoid squeezed center area.

      @@Spieshecker what is the difference between VHS hardner and a Hs hardner for Clear coat

    • @Spieshecker
      @Spieshecker  Před 3 lety +1

      VHS Hardener have a higher solid and reactive ingredient content than HS hardeners which is why there are differnces in mixing ratios where both can be used with the same base product i.e. 8035 is mixed 2:1 with HS but 3:1 with VHS (plus reducer in the case of VHS to achieve the correct RFU viscosity)
