Yo I got hella chills when Kratos talked about Deimos and Calliope because it’s like that was the first time in years he’s talked about either.
And Freya realizing the truth about Kratos, she herself had to have taken pity on him because Kratos has already lost too much as it is. And like I can assume she took this as a lesson that even after experiencing so much loss, you too can have another chance to start again, just like Kratos with Atreus.
And even culminates with Freya facing Gná, the living personification of what she used to be: Gná is a woman who blames others for the destruction of Asgard and resents her former friend for taking that away from her. As a result, she lashed out against those who got close to her. Gná is also a Valkyrie Queen.

If you have a brother you’ll understand how deep this line is. God of War Ragnarök has proven to be the best game I’ve played this year. I wasn’t even seconds in and I started crying, now I’m hours in and I’m in awe. Santa Monica has proven they are once again one of the best gaming developers out there because they care about the fans and development of their characters while making a beautiful looking game and a masterpiece of a story.
Easily a 10/10
P.S I’m so happy the devs mentioned Deimos
at this point I wish Deimos or orkos were alive. it would be cool to see familiar friendly faces in newer games.
Hey, Kratos didn't kill all of the greek god(esses). and such. I'm sure they are kicking someone out there.
It's honestly possible since he tore those afterlife's apart imagine a GOW title where we play as Deimos escaping the underworld in greece now in ruins and along the way he finds calliope lost and alone and he adopts her becoming a duo
I predict there's gonna be deimos side game, about him escaping the underworld since nobody is there to protect it, and the main goal is to track down your brother and along the way finding out what happened to Greece, my idea is that my antagonists are gonna be artemis and apollo, artemis, bloodlusted for revenge is tracking down kratos, and apollo is the new ruler of greece, maybe artemis will try to get answers out of deimos, i think the end game boss is gonna be artemis, late game i think apollo will die and artemis will sense it and try to find deimos, i think deimos now has found a way to get to the norse pantheon and as soon as he is about to head off he gets ambushed by artemis and then the fight takes place on the shores of greece after the fight since artemis is the last remaining full god i think she causes a massive explosion, declaring the end of the Greek gods, which blasts deimos all the way to Midgard and when deimos wakes up, he lands on the peak of the mountain, he takes a look at the broken jotunheim realm gateway then he looks down to the icy, cold frozen lake, then he sees tyrs temple then he hears the horn that declares ragnarok....

I know that it isn't right to compare losses, but Freya losing Baldur just isn't anywhere close to the suffering Kratos went.
He only talks because he knows from experience, Freya realizes herself and all she can do is pity him.
What Kratos had to go through was absolutely horrible, and to top all that off, he slaughtered the entire greek pantheon thinking that it would make him feel better. But instead he's only left with unending guilt that nobody can comprehend.
Couldn't help but get pissed at Freya, but a mother losing her only son..
The anger blinding her is understandable.
She just needs to realize that killing Kratos won't make her better, but it'll only leave a young boy without a family.
Basically kickstarting the cycle kratos wants to end family killing family gods killing gods and dooming those who were only caught In the crossfire in a way kratos just doesn't want to see another god or even another person with power be like him who was blinded by rage and the desire of revenge since he knows all to well that once it is done there's nothing left no joy no satisfaction only guilt and more resentment
There's no way for her to know just how deep into a whole and killing and despair Kratos had to survive through. It's not something he likes to talk about for good reason.
Yeah but kratos doesn't want it to be a cockfighting contest for suffering like tlou2 he's telling her to get her trust and to try and make her understand her own pain
I love how the introduction of Kratos' brother turned GoW into a classic Greek tragedy.
the whole greek mythology is a tragedy
The OG game was pretty much a Modernization of the average Greek Tragedy tbf

@Morec0 The OG God of War's plot has Greek tragedies all over it. Kratos served the gods for 10 years so they would rid him of his memories. This ultimately turned out to be a trick, as though the gods forgave him, they refused to purge his memory if his deeds, and then they refuse to let him kill himself and die in peace, making him a god instead, setting the stage for their downfall.
Then, there's the case of everything Zeus does to secure the reign of Olympus being the very thing that causes Kratos to turn on the gods and kill them.
There's more, such as the Oracle Kratos mentions in game, but I don't want to write a whole essay on my phone lol

I can't believe it. Deimos really being quoted? Ghost of Sparta is my favourite non numbeberd God of War game. I was affraid that Santa Monica would simply forget him, but thankfully it didn't happen.

Deimos didnt even get to be with for a long time, he literally died right in front of him, I wish he was alive, he watched Atreus die as well, that Spartan was insane, but also cool for some reason
i like how in these games kratos talks quite a bit about his greek family. deimos and calliope, and lysandra in valhalla.
I love how when Freyr steps up to Mimir, Kratos is ready to defend him like "You act nicely to my brother or its me you're gonna deal with."
He also had another brother, Hercules

Interestingly enough in GOW3, which takes place some time after GOW Ghost Of Sparta, while Kratos was in the underworld He finds a letter written by a "tormented soul" which is implied to be Deimos, commenting on Kratos becoming a God while He is left to rot and suffer and begging Hades to release Him so that He can have His revenge, which seems to indicate that Deimos once again harbors hatred towards Kratos after being killed by Thanatos
Deimos should have made a come back and helped Kratos
It would be difficult of account he's dead. But perhaps given what happened to Greece his spirit is somewhere.
the big thru line Kratos is the importance of family to him. yes he's goten betther howver everything he does is for his family. both blood and found.
Oh how I wish Deimos and Brok lived, and the Real Tyr was rescued for Ragnarok.
