- The anatomy of the liver is the most tricky one to master when we are students as well as for surgeons while operating or radiologists while reviewing the scans. The basics of liver anatomy are therefore discussed in 5 parts in this series.
This trick of understanding the liver anatomy in your hand will help you remember as well as understand the 3-dimensional aspects of liver anatomy.
I am not sure if you have been taught liver anatomy using your hand as a 3D model but, I found this trick very interesting and hence, sharing it with all of you.
The only point to HIGHLIGHT Is that in the actual liver anatomy, gall bladder does not continue with Thumb as in this technique, but, we have only 5 fingers so this the easiest it can get. But, do keep this in mind.
In this small talk series, we are going to give you some key topics in a very easy to understand manner and in a short and sweet package.
Liver anatomy will be discussed in 5 parts. The first part deals with the COUINAUD CLASSIFICATION understanding and its hand model to remember it easily. There is also a line diagram representation of the liver anatomy to easily understand and reproduce in exam.
Follow this liver anatomy small talk series and STAY TUNED for this interesting series.

wait... did he just say two lobes? doesnt the liver have right left quadrate and caudate lobe?
Caudate and quadrate are ideally segments 1 and 4 respectively.
@@edusurgclinics yes but if you think about it for example the quadrate is on the right but functionally its like the ledt and for caudate its different okay thats what my college professor says
