I think it's the culture. I used to work for a company where you don't need MC if you need sick leave for just 1 day. They also told us that if it's abused, they will withdraw the benefit. I was there 3 years. Nobody abused it.

The way I see it, it's OCBC HR and finance own fault for not enforcing their claim rules strictly.

Companies keep their rules loose sometimes cause they trust their employees that they won't abuse the system.
But due to the nature of us humans being self center, greedy creature, more and more " good " companies starting to loose those trust. And they have no choice but to put up strict rules that goes against the popular vote.
That's like a rapist blaming rape victim for dressing sexily.
Well, if they approve the first and second time, then of course employees assume that it is allowed by the rules. It's like you get a credit card that is stated in their T&C to give rebates for groceries, and specifically states that they enforce this rule by checking if you are buying from a supermarket. Then you buy oven and tap from Fairprice, the bank accept this and rebate you, then you of course assume that the bank is enforcing their rebate criteria practically rebating all purchases from listed supermarkets, because the bank does not have the time to scrutinize every item in your receipt, or program some AI that can do so without provoking public outrage for infringement of privacy

This was an informative and well investigated journalistic piece; but can the people at Goody Feed explain why they insist on dumbing it down with the nonsense mumbling of certain words?
Should be close the loopholes and move on. Why blame the employees unless you are looking for ways to cut staff without going into big sums of retrenchment benefits...

Actually, such a big organization should have a employee handbook, listing what can be claim and cant. The employees are taking advantage only and hoping the system wont find out. Sacking is already light, the Company can hand them to cops. If management misappropriate company asset, can he be let go if he just returned the stolen asset?

I work for a bank cant name it but they use some resort not like this to ask you to leave. So far, the foreigner manager had failed because im still having some of the knowledge of their very important systems.
