    Some years, there are so many excellent performances that you just have to consider how relevant it is to be recognized and nominated. It's difficult to award just one of these performances, but the correct choice was made. For those of you who haven't seen "Escape at Dannemora," I highly recommend it.
    Having said that, I'll never understand the comments leveled at Patricia Arquette's speeches; I have a lot of respect for her in that she utilizes these rare opportunities to direct attention towards specific issues. It isn't some attempt to grandstand. And it would be a mistake to classify her statement(s) as politically motivated or a byproduct of identity politics. Perspective and awareness are usually the first casualties in such a polarizing environment -- regardless of beliefs, those are universal concepts we all should have the ability to appreciate.

      well said. Celebrated actors have a platform and using it like that gives voice to a lot of people who can't stand up.

A celeb can take their platform, just for a moment, and do better than years of inaction and stagnation. Worth it and I don't mind. Don't think so. Patricia was outstanding in the show. I just think Amy has bad luck. Everytime she gives an amazing performance, there is someone else that gave a better one. Except 2017 that she didn't even was nominated for arrival (that was unfair).

    I am down to practically no one I want to watch in a movie or on TV. Can't these spoiled, overrated actors just act? If you want to make a difference in this country when it comes to policy change, than go to Washington and stop acting.

    • @KindCountsDeb3773
      @KindCountsDeb3773 Před 2 lety

      They are citizens and do a lot of good works for the country. Patricia has always done charities, and given to people in need. How are they spoiled? They earned the money. Regular citizens can speak out, go on a march, hold signs, vote, so it's not wrong for actors to speak on something that might need immediate action. 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 They can reach so many people and they use that platform to HELP. What are you doing ? I bet you'd be fine with this type of mention IF it were a subject you agreed on or a political view you had. Quit being petty and angry about something that is not life shattering.
