Quite possibly one of the cruelest realizations of my life lol. I hit the yellow footprints on 18 April 88. Our receiving DIs picked us up and we spent about a week with them before this day happened. I was already patting myself on the back after a week with receiving DIs, thinking shit I got this. Then one day they marched us to a different squad bay where our real DIs picked us up and our senior gave this speech. I had no idea that we hadn’t even started yet and shit was about to get a lot worse lol.
I still watch this before I go workout. It motivates the fuck out of me. It reminds me of my SDI Ssgt Battiest when he gave us the black friday speech. So motivating... Semper Fi
The example of true greatness. The USMC DI is the example of what they want from the recruits. US MARINE, and the opportunity to EARN IT!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
holy shit! they were the drill instructors of my company when i went through boot in late 04. DI Sgt Martinez was a SSgt when i went through but he was my SDI.
SSgt Nichols is Good to Go. Ive never met him but I've been a Social Network Friend of his since Ears, Open, Eyeballs Click. He was a Serious Intense Green Belt but 99% of the Time All SDI were Serious Good to Go Green Belts who had Motivation!
TheWingsnotarms they kinda had to..... Otherwise they'd scare the crap out of a bunch of people..... I think once senior headed into the duty hut, we knew it was about to get real though
Chills run down my spine!!!... I once was stood in your boots! ZERO!!!! Pave way towards your life. If you gain nothing from this then it was all in vain!!!!
I don't know about the dd214 stating the exact reasons. I served as an 0121 (admin POG) in Quantico from 1998-2002 and all I did was discharges and retirements. The only thing we put on the dd214 was a code (i.e. "MBK1") depending on the type of discharge (honorable, medical, bad conduct) but at least during my time, they never stated the exact reason for discharge.
"at no time will you run on my ladder well, or my squad bay"! I challenge every recruit to walk in the squadbay see what happens, your ass will be on the quarterdeck !
August 10, 2021. Preparing me myself and I for this long journey. Shipment Sep 27, I still need to work harder on my running. Im a bigger guy, used to do weights, never good at cardio. My cruches are solid, and pullups need some work. Good luck to all.
Tun Tavern, November 10, 1775. The first man signs his paperwork to enlist in the Continental Marines and steps outside. The second man follows suit. The first walks over to the second, puts his arm around the second's shoulders and says, "So, let me tell you about the old Corps." Yep, those Marines who just died in Afghanistan were all softer than you because they didn't get physically abused in boot camp.
While I was in RSP, I met guys who were getting discharged for telling their DI's to "Fuck off.", guys who couldn't qualify with their M16 and guys who simply couldn't pass physical. Before the war they didn't care about dedication, decency or honor. I never quit the Marines, they quit on me. Then after 9/11 I tried to re enlist but they mysteriously changed their story. After saying it wasn't blisters and I quit I stood up and left in anger.
US Army Basic Training 1981. Insulting or disobeying a DS meant 45 days confinement doing sh*t details THEN the discharge. We had a two tour Vietnam vet as a DS former 82nd Airborne who said that if any of us "knuckleheads" wanted to take a swing at him to give it our best shot. We all knew it wouldn't be a fair fight.
Now I'm done, I did my part. I served my country, I'm finished. If we have another war, I'm sitting out. All that patriotism and dedication I had, it's gone now. My mindset was "Dying for your country is the greatest honor." Fuck that shit now.
The reason for my discharge said "Benefit of the goverment." Plus this was before the war started so the Marines didn't care about decency, dedication or honor.
Good luck man! I know I was a Soldier and not a Marine but I knew some ex-Marines that went into the Army and they would agree that this same advice that was given to me before boot camp will apply to yours. "Don't EVER give up NO MATTER WHAT!"
Why you just whispering to them, Nichols? Can someone whos been in recently tell me, have they changed this part of the SDI speech or was this just a personal choice?
I tried joining the regular Army, they said no. I tried the Navy, they said no. After seeing Nick Berg getting decapitated, I was so pissed and anxious to fight the Al Qaeda, I tried joining the Canadian army, they said " No can do, eh." I finally tried the Nat'l guard and got in. They even gave me arch supports for my feet so I was able to complete boot camp and go to Iraq. 72nd MP Co. Bucca Iraq. Now I'm done serving. I did my part.
trying to find my fellow recruits and d.i.'s from bootcamp here but i have no f.b. or anything other than y.t., can anyone help me ?, 2032 gulf company april 93' grad here , thanks > tom !
Hey cap'n hands, I'm a disabled vet - USMC Desert Storm you are treading on some thin ice with your harsh words against my corps, I suggest you keep your trap shut or a lot of marines viewing your post will find you and shut it for you

S.T.E.A.L. = Secretly Transporting Equipment to Alternate Location.
Idk what you’re talking about I just tactically acquired it
My black Friday was Christmas Eve. I happened to be on fire watch at midnight when the year changed over. I had my own quiet celebration.
I still watch this before I go workout. It motivates the fuck out of me. It reminds me of my SDI Ssgt Battiest when he gave us the black friday speech. So motivating... Semper Fi
Yes. I've talked to SSG Mike Nichols through E-mail. He seems like a really good guy. Answered all my questions I had.
may i get his email please , to see if he can help me track down my former d.i.'s , no f.b. here , trying to find recruits too , thanks > tom !

It never fails. He tells them a marine never steals but everytime someone goes to bootcamp i guarantee they know someone who has something stolen.

You cut off the best part... the screaming and chaos that follows as soon as all the nice speeches are done!
I've chatted with SSGT Nichols on facebook. Real nice guy!
Yes he is. I have him as a friend on Facebook. 6 years ago my wife died and he sent me his condolences and prayers. I thought that was very classy.
A Marine never lies, cheats or steals? Bullshit, I've seen em do all three, lol.
how does that old quote go? "you can trust a marine with your life, but not with your beer or your wife"
@@bigbosshoss2901 nah thats army, well besides the beer part
Do they not allow weapons in the head since Full Metal Jacket?
lol
They didn’t even allow them in there back then too which is why the Gunny was heated

There is always one gay guy who showers with you in bootcamp.
My recruit division in the navy were straight up singing ram ranch in the head.😂
A marine never steals! lol
He's right, there's only been one thief in the Marine Corps, everyone else is just trying to get their stuff back
LegendStatus Yea Marines don't steal, They Tactically Acquire something from another Marine
You can trust a marine with your wallet and your life but not with your wife!
Unless you’re inside of the signs home you know
We don't...we tactfully acquire items. Gear adrift is a gift.
We don't steal, we tactically acquire.
"at no time will you run on my ladder well, or my squad bay"! I challenge every recruit to walk in the squadbay see what happens, your ass will be on the quarterdeck !
SSgt Nichols is an outstanding Drill Instructor
There's a DI Sergeant Martinez in almost every other platoon.
February 25, 2013. Training for 300 on my PFT. All I need to improve on is running, everything else is good to go :]

Compassion? No physical abuse? Ok this makes me laugh -things have changed from 1987.

When I was a recruit I got called a rock. I thought that meant I was hard. It meant I was stupid.
MEPS on Thursday, can't wait to receive my date.
how did it go
Damn 9 years ago…
I remember tactically acquiring pb from the chow hall and flushing em down the head
We had a guy who stole some and got caught and was told to scream shame as he walked to the trash can to throw it out 💀
Most of us have done this … all of us have seen the consequences when someone got caught, happens every cycle

You only like dramatic police liberal videos. You weak thing. Think about what you just said.
Where were you and what month did you graduate?
4:04 let black friday begin
Is he a SSG as he said he was or a Gunnery Sergeant? It appears that he is wearing those of a Senior NCO, Gunnery SGT
At no time will you run in my deck or laddrwell WTF has happened to my Corps
241 days until I'm sitting in there!
I have 26 days. And if you think I'm a little nervous or scared, then you are absolutely 110% right.
296 days 😊
+Jonathan Richwine I guess you made it! How was it?
+nope the way my buddy described it towards the end was "it's the best experience of your life that you never want to go through again."
+Jonathan Richwine we'll you did it

Fuck I miss the Corps.....
Omg I can't fucking wait till boot camp I'm going in 2 weeks I'm excited
These DI's should be DI's for Airmen
There not smart enough to train airman
Maybe 5 of them in that platoon might still be in the Marines

Not sure of first name, but I believe last name: Maranan. If that helps.

@Alex Stark you are if you go there. But with the level of disrespect you have I doubt you'll make it past the recruiting office.
